I need some help with Microsoft Access for my revision for my GCSE exams.

What I am wondering is, what is the format of searching a Access database.

I have forgotten the format to search them.

This is a mock exam I did about 18months ago.

Q. Jenny Jones wants a list of members who are over 40 on 01/01/2008 for a veteran's competition. Write does the field and criteria that would find only these records.

My answer: DOB=<40, 01/01/2008

What would be the basic search format for anything in an Access database, I have searched for the answer on Google, but no results lol.

Also, whilst I have this thread, I might as well ask whats the forms of validation and how to carry out the validation on a Access database.

Maybe something like below. Not sure of the exact syntax though. [table1] might be optional provided you're putting this in the DOB field of the query expression that you're comparing.

I don't want it like that lol. I will have to answer a question in a GCSE exam. Basically is the search something like FieldName=Record or something like that?

The field is DOB, the search 'criteria' (if you look in ms access' query builder, the criteria is where the search terms go) is the coded part.

One way or another, In order to find out all those who are over 40 on 01/01, you have to compare the DOB to that date for each record.
