You know the "Home" page in LFSW that nobody looks at? How about putting the "best racer info" on the forum as well? If it becomes more obvious maybe people will go out and race more to try to get their name to appear here on the forum where everybody will see it, rather than on LFSW where nobody sees it.
The "best racer at the moment" is, I'm sorry to say, a crock of shit. It's just whatever new guy has managed to win his first 4 races before diving into the sea of mediocracy that any new person eventually settles into.
LFSW is good enough on it's own to warrent a visit to it fairly often, especially if you're in leagues or have more than a handful of people on your buddy list there so you can quickly tell where your friends are racing.
I'm sure Vic can find a place for it, I mean we even have info on lfs.net where it shows "number of racers online", right? I'd put it in the empty space between the LFS Forum logo and the advertisement at the top, though that's probably not the best place.
I think it is relevant info, who wouldn't want to be the best racer at a particular point in time? That's why I think it should be put here, instead of being hidden away on LFSW. And every time I visit LFSW the home page never pops up (and I like it that way so I don't have to close it every time) because it keeps me logged in permanently.
That amount of space depends heavenly on the resolution you use. I don't think i will have much place when i check the boards on my 9" netbook.
It's not a bad idea, but i dont know what it means to be the best racer of LFSW. If it's true that it is the racer who has driven the most races and not lost one it's worthless. Then it will be indeed only racers who have just joined.
I visit LFSW fairly often and I think the most races/miles I've ever seen are 12 races and 150 miles driven. The current "best racer" has driven 3 miles and hasn't finished a single race.
I am going to have to eat my words on this subject. Today on LFSW I saw someone I know as the "Best racer of the moment:". It was a bit confusing because I knew they had done more than 76km or whatever it said, so I checked their profile. The best racer of the moment actually takes data from the "Today's stats" column, so it really is the person (out of anyone) who has done the best today.
