Having looked at a few threads about this in other forums, I've compiled a list of suggested names. Some fun, some serious.

What would you name the new FOTA breakaway series (if it materialises)?

I'm thinking FGP, Prix 1 (P1), Formula Uno (FU!! ) or Pinnacle.

PS: I mixed up Formula Un and Formula Uno. Formula Un was the Ricky Bobby reference (when the French guy can't pronounce "one").

World GP Championship? I think you can count that out. Even if F1 fails, FIA is just not going to suddenly evaporate, and if FOTA would screw International Sporting Code (forbirds use of "World" word without FIA's authorisation) I assume that would not make things easier with track licensing etc.

They Forbid the use of the word "World"? That's just silly.

I voted for WGPC. Sounds the best of of em.

Actually it's not silly unless you want situation like in pro boxing, where all four major associations declare their own world champions.

International Sporting Code, page 5:

d) Other Cups, Trophies, Challenges or Series may not include
in their title the word “World” (which, in this section should be read

If the series is organized according to ISC. For example ACO affiliated series are even though FIA has no other direct control on them. A1GP too (and it's "World Cup of Motorsport"). Nascar series and some other US only series excluded, any major or in this comparable international series not under ISC?

Got my vote.. just saying IMRC sounds cool!

I think most people switch from 4 to 2 wheels when they're about 5 years old.

International Grand Prix Championship would suit it too if they can't use "World"

But is "international" a word with a similar meaning to "world"? One could argue that it is.

Frankly, the regulation about "world" is rubbish. Although the FIA may act vindictively and prevent FOTA from setting up a series using that word, it won't be enforceable if the FIA were to take legal measures against it in court. You can't copyright or trademark a common word.

Formula Phoenix? Rising from the smouldering ashes of what used to be F1 (sort of). Although, I'm still optimistic we won't really see the breakaway series...well, it's either optimism or delirium.

Didn't Bernie recently fail to acquire exclusive rights to the term "F1"?
