Problem with TrackIR4Pro [SOLVED]
I posted the following in the 'Technical Assistance' forum, but received no reply.

Hi Folks,
my Trackir4 was working well with LFS,but lately the cockpit view has become very jumpy. LFS works fine without TrackIR and every other program I use the TrackIR with is working fine with it. I have removed and reinstalled the TrackIR software and reset all graphic settings to lower levels but nothing changed.
I suspect there is some problem within my LFS program. Some file corrupted or some such thing. The only thing I can think of to do next is to remove and reinstall LFS.
Does anyone have any clues or suggestions before I try that?
Thanks and Cheers;
Steve.

I went to uninstall, download and reinstall LFS, but it does not appear under control panel/uninstall programs, or Start/all programs (WindowsXP) ???

I am wondering if the problems I am having are a result of a change in the program after the release of TrackIR5.

I tried downloading and installing LFS in the hope that it would overwrite the existing installation but it would not accept my password.

I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thankyou
Steve.

I don't have any advice for your specific problem but LFS does not need to be installed (all you do is unzip an archive, effectively), so it cannot be uninstalled from your system (all you do is delete the LFS folder if you want). Try specifying a different folder when you unzip LFS so you can get a fresh version and see if the problem persists. You shouldn't need to unlock LFS to test if there's a problem with TrackIR unless it's specific to a particular S1/S2 car.
try to drag those sliders in the veiw and turn off the move veiw with animation
't's all good now.
Thanks for your help guys. I installed Version5-Beta04 and it seams to have solved all my problems. I hadn't realised I could use it with IR4.
I don't really understand the instalation process, but hey if it works.....
Thanks for the tips on the sliders too.
Cheers Steve.

Most Windows software has to be installed using an installer application. The installer does things like ask you where you want to install the program, whether you want to run the program once it's installed, whether you want to register it online etc. What the installer actually does behind the scenes is to copy files to wherever you want to install the program, write keys to the registry (if required) and create Windows services (if required) amongst other things. It may also create an uninstaller application which will contain a record of what the installer has actually done (i.e. what files it copies, any keys or services it created etc).

However, LFS doesn't come with an installer. When you run LFS after downloading it from the website it will ask you where you want to extract LFS to but that's all that happens. The files in the archive you downloaded are extracted somewhere on your system. There are no registry keys created, no services etc. That means that there's no uninstaller, because to get LFS off your system all you need to do is delete the folder you extracted.
