I'm sure you had the best intentions faster111.However, if you want to avoid further public ridicule in the future, you *really* should make a habit of checking the other forum threads before you post something like this - specifically ones created by the devs
Nooooooooo. Then nobody would know what the next patch will include and everybody will complain about the lack of progress updates again because they can't find all the other threads about the progress update that have better fitting titles and are always on top of the forum!
i don't i just have a favourites link directly to the forum, but theres more news on here than on the website, one reason why i dont visit it too often
edit: either that or the news on the main page is on the forum within seconds of it going on there!
The 1st post doesn't sink the forum any lower. It's the 100 replies that do, unfortunatelly. A guy got excited when he saw the news (a bit late), without looking for other threads, he posted this. Big deal. Instead of simply telling that it's a repost, and pointing to the thread this is discussed in (which someone did actually later on) people keep jumping up and down on a post, that's nothing new anyway.
What are the threads with most discussion?
1, When there's a repost
2, When there's a cracker
Simply lock these threads, and don't deal with them. What good does it bring for 150people to shout in repost, repost, repost.
To be honest, I don't follow all the sections in the LFS forum, mainly the media/screenshots/renders section, add ons, layouts, and that's about it. In most of these sections, people that actually post something creative and useful, don't get any reply whatsoever. Threads with x hundred views, and noone says anything. The only time there is some activity in those threads is when some cracker posts something, and then 200 poeople jump in throwing around hot air.
Get a sense of humour, mate. If it amuses everyone (and the person posting the thread should smack himself on the forhead and laugh along) its all good. As for the crackers, there's 10 replies about that before it gets locked/deleted. For the layouts forum, it is probably not as heavily moderated and because layouts are only available with a license its pretty obvious when a cracker posts. If you haven't noticed there's a 3 man dev team and people take this sort of thing more seriously on the LFS forums because of respect for the developers. I'm not saying they're right to post 100 times on it, I'm just saying it's understandable.
The problem is, the guy himself who posted this thread will not think it's funny.
Yes it is funny, I also had a big smile on my face, but you sometimes need to hide those smiles
*oops*
but surely things like this show that its a good community, able to have a good laugh... ive played ALOT of online games, and no community comes close to being as friendly as the LFS one, yes they take the p*ss a bit, but they all mean good!!* (hope that made sense!) *apart from when people with an unlicenced "h*ck*d" (dont say that word!) copy of LFS come on the forums asking for help.... because its just not right!!
I believe noone likes crackers here, all the people who bought LFS respect the developers and their work. And everyone knows this. Posting 100times "go away cracker" doesn't make the situation any better, and won't get rid of crackers.
But anyway, my post wasn't directed at cracker issues specifically, it was more like an example.
And I do have a sense of humor, but when 100people post the same "go way noob" or whatever "funny" picture 100times, and reply the same thing 100times, in 100different repost threards, it's not funny anymore.
[quote=faster111]On the simulation side, things have been coming along well. Eric has recently worked some more on the Aston track, including graphical improvements, texture changes and a new configuration (or two). Scawen has worked on some aerodynamic improvements, most notably, the drag and downforce from wings work correctly depending on their real angle of motion, not just the user setting. A recent push on tyre physics has resulted in much better tyres which have improved the car handling and driving experience a lot. We have also been experimenting with another interesting feature as well...
if your a demo racer and u have not got a s2 license why are u looking so forward to the update. it look's like u have used a cracker so why do u want the update so badly (correct me if i am wrong)
