Quote from tristancliffe :They've said the first race or two is a test, but they haven't explicitly stated they aren't attending any of the preseason tests, have they? (not where I've read it). The first season will be testing for them to be honest...

Well it will be because they are a new team, of course the first season is just to get their bearings, but to openly admit that (to me) seems to be the first thing you DON'T say if you are trying to attract investors.
New Ferrari launched earlier today...

But it might be the thing to say if you want to get investors to join and stay for a second or third year!
Comparison to last year:

Quite some changes, but overall it looks pretty much the same.
Wheelbase longer
Red Bull style nose cross section
Much more intricate front wing
White bits actually suit it (though I just about prefer the red front wing of 09)
F1Today.nl should be F1Yesterday.nl on the top pic
Shame about the awful barge board mirrors
No wheel covers!!!
Neater integration of exhaust exits
You can quite clearly see the effects of the bigger fuel tank too.
Well, it's ****ing ugly. The cars do reflect the mess the whole sport is in regulation wise.
Nicer looking than the 07/08 cars to be fair, other than the front wing width.
I liked all the winglets and bumps on the pre 09 cars personally. The best looking ones came in 2004 though.

The only part of the new cars that are improved imo are the bodies in my opinion. They look nice and smooth and slick. The rest though is 'design by committee' (The OWG to be precise). The fact the new wings actually have no benefits just makes it even worse. The old cars just suffered from torrid acne. All they needed was some treatment looks wise.

Racing is the most important part but F1 needs some self-respect. These cars are just laughable. The cars in 'lower' series look mmuucchh better.
Modern F1 cars are all out of proportion, for their width, they have an incredibly long wheelbase.
Apparently Williams are shaking down their new FW32 challenger for promotion porpuses today at Silverstone. If anyone living not too far would like to leg it and take some photos, that would be nice.
Can't tell much from lining up the rear axle line. Much better to line up the cockpit (which hasn't changed in the regulations), and see how they've played with the wheelbase and packaging around that:

Oh Christ.....

What on earth is up with that thing?!
Looks pretty damn good with the current regs, I like it! Much better than last years renault that's for sure.
Beautiful? What are people on?

Shakira is beautiful, the Scottish Highlands are beautiful, a Ford GT40 is beautiful.... modern F1 is certainly NOT beautiful! lol seriously people I wanna know what you guys are taking!
Ferrari is good looking. No doubt about that.

The Williams tho is terrible... The nose is just killing....
Shakira isn't that beautiful really! But I'll give you the other two

I think it is quite pretty. Okay, so it's not exactly a Lotus 72, a McLaren MP4/5 or a Jordan J191, but the general proportions are nice (front wing apart), it's sleek (rather than a box of messy, useless bits a la 2007/8), and it looks like it's going fast even when it isn't (a good trait - Concordes, Spitfires, Miuras etc all shared the same thing).

Edit: I can't see much of the Williams nose to comment. No worse than the Platypus Red Bull nose, surely?
I take it you didn't see the she wolf video
Yes, I did. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no. And she's very pretty. But she isn't 'beautiful'.
Ferrari's car looks like last years Red Bull which also looked crap, there are some spy shots of Williams new car on Autosport and thats got the same completely straight nose, looks absolutely rubbish. Lets hope Mclarens car which is being launched tomorrow at 12pm will look a lot better.

I still think the 2008 F1 cars look the best, better proportions and much better looking.
