Loving your avatar steve ... keep it up (pun intended )
Can you zoom it in a little?
Quote from steve :OMG an update with texture sidewalls!!!!! OMG    i dont know what to do with myself..

I know what I'd like to do with that girl on your avatar steve..

eh back to topic: exciting
Is it just my imagination or are we getting quite good brake caliper models in the patch?
Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Since the "low speed grip" bug is allegedly fixed, perhaps in theory that should have an impact on people using locked diffs, since the inside wheel should be less inclinded to slip, thus the difficulties of locked diffs should reveal themselves... Just a thought.

there is no problem with locked diff (as crap as it should be), the problem is with the clutch pack
Kid - I don't know what you're getting at. Yes I admit that due to all the articles, comments and dev blogs about nKP over the last ~ year, I thought that nKP was going to be better than LFS on release. I got the impression it had been tested to death, and that it was a slick-running, uber sim. However, I always felt that whilst it might be better than LFS on release, I knew that LFS would catch up again. Then nK would do something good and overtake, only for LFS to respond. Not in an open competition type way, but to further both sims.

However, having playing nK I can see that this hype was completely misplaced. I don't think nK is anywhere near as bad as you make out - I can feel the differences over Namie easily. But as the same guy made both it's likely that a similar feel would exist in both Namie and nKP. Just like you wouldn't expect LFS to transform in feel over night if new tyre data was used (like now). The basic feel will remain the same.

As for quoting my posts from B-Side, I don't get what you're trying to do. I asked a question about skin templates and server availability, and I expressed my interest about wheel tethers (which turned out to be pants)... dragging me into this 'hate nK' mindset you have won't endear many people to the cause of LFS, and neither will posting the 'how to get all the cars' cheat everywhere you can. Yes, it's a BIG bug, but a respected LFSer posting it and rediculing nKP in public isn't very mature, and neither is it good PR. I'm surprised Scawen or Victor hasn't told you to drop it yet...

It seems to me that everyone has, at some point, a problem with understanding you Kid. I know I did, and it wasn't all that long ago when we had a bit of a heated discussion about something. But after that I felt I understood you, and your preference/belief in LFS a bit more. Tonight you have blown that opinion (not that it counts for much I know).

I'm more than happy to continue to get along with almost everyone, and be the butt of many people's jokes. But I'd like to understand where you're coming from a bit better, and why you drag my name into this? Am I not allowed to 'fall' for the hype of netKar, admit to falling for it, and post my opinion of several aspects of the game? Do I have to be 100% LFS, with ne'er a word of another sim mentioned?
Whatever Kid. Just keep taking the medicine dude.

My comment was simply that ride height affecting undertray downforce is a feature which has been in some sims since good old Geoff Crammonds GP2 (probably just a look up table back then), and it would be an important feature for aero cars because in reality it forces important setup decisions.

Scawen is obviously aware of it and wants to do the job properly when he gets time, and thats fine with me. Quite where you get the idea that you need to go off on another one about NetKar I have no idea.

Anyway, I dont want to get into an argument with you, I value my sanity
No-one can ever truly understand The Kid, tristan. And you were a fool for ever believing you did

Anyway, smile, this is the update thread remember, no bickering folks.
Same time here tommorow then?

Thank god, an aero physics update

The tyre sidewalls thing for me was... well, "whatever".

This, however, makes a big for me
Previous update was at 21:40... this one is at 16:00. Approximately 5hr40min behind schdule. So that means 18hr20min between updates. Next one at 10:20?... just a though.
Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo : Interesting that you even have such a capability....

Well, why not? People animals also... I mean you don't eat the whole cow but cut it up first and then ea... OK, enough with that train of thought...
@Scawen; seeing that S2 is mainly going to be about physics updates (compared to the few updates that made up S1 for other fixes) with all this new coding on how everything works in the real world, do you believe that setting WR's is really necesary? (in a short period of time; maybe after alot of the physics are fixed i see it more reasonable)

this question is actually kinda open to everyone; but.. if S2 is going to mainly be about real physics.. do you think its going to be very important to have the fastest time until everything is 'fixed'?
Quote from PLAYLIFE :I mean you don't eat the whole cow but cut it up first and then ea... OK, enough with that train of thought...

Actually that was also my thought, but well, thinking about it hurts...

@WR resets:
I think there was enough time for "YAY! I'm teh 0wn4g3!1 Jo00oo suXx0rz 1'm 1337!11" to enjoy having a WR. So I don't see anything wrong with resetting the WRs for new physics.

Vain
It's really funny to see all the other guys around me refreshing this thread to see some new posts by the devs revealing some more information. :wtf2:

Do you all have nothing better to do like me?

Ok, forget it - let's go on posting crap and spam ....
I don't think you need to BE fitting into an nKP vs LFS ratio. Most people will own one or the other, and some will own both.

Buying a racing sim is less like buying a router, or a PC. Sims don't really fall into the "one or the other" scenario like most comodities. Unless you're absolutely strapped for cash (there are going to be some who are forced in this respect), there's no REAL need to see the two as competing.

Horses for courses. nKP doesn't appear to cater for the particular aspects of motor racing that I find myself most interested in, so here you find a 100% LFS fan. But that doesn't translate to 0% nKP. It's a different thing altogether.

I AM undeniably enthusiastic about LFS. I like the sim. I like the 3-stage development concept. I like the fact that the devs' love of the sim is apparent in every aspect and element of the sim. I like the fact that they are not nameless and faceless.. that they have at least one foot in our world, and we have at least a toe-hold in theirs. If we need them, they're right there. That really blows me away, tbh. I feel like I'm a part of the great big thing that is LFS. Right in there. Wow!

nKP isn't something I've invested in yet. I don't know if I ever will. I knew it was coming, but being the tight-fisted Yorkshireman I am, I didn't buy it before I saw it or heard what others said about it AFTER trying it. What I've heard so far tells me that, for now at least, I can keep earning interest on my nKP licence while it sits in the bank. But I'm not ANTI-nKP. I hope it succeeds, just like LFS is doing.

Most of us are 100% loyal LFSers. We CAN be 100% loyal nKPers too. My mum told me, when my kid sister turned up, she didn't split her love between us. The love doubled.

[EDIT] This post was after reading Tristan's... just for anyone trying to keep up with context Good post, Tristan.

Exactly what I think. LFS has certain 'love' in it at every time I start it up and go for a drive. Something that I can never feel from a game made by a big company just to make big bucks. No matter are you new or a veteran LFS player, you just keep coming back to it, and it always feels as good as ever.
Maybe it's just me but the new suspension bars appear to be too thin...
Quote from csimpok :Maybe it's just me but the new suspension bars appear to be too thin...

Maybe it means they will break/bend sooner? I'd say that would be a pretty good thing, since at the moment some people just drive straight over the chicane-cut-bumps, whithout any damage.
..lol.. model size has nothing to do with that
no idea why they are thinner, they should be flatter and quite long; they arent round like that anymore

Yeah, high-curb-chicane-cutting-without-damage is high on my list of annoyances also.

Doesn't keep me from participating while it's possible though... FE Club/Gold T2 chicane anyone? illepall

i get that feeling and it scares the sh** outta me to know i'm so hyped up to race.

I'm really interested in what DEV's think when they read such a post. Are they proud and get a big smile on their face? Scawen, Victor or maybe ERIC - tell us!
