I think it would be a good idea, but the tracks should be singleplayer and lan ONLY!
It should be available for a technology license fee. So only the serious apply.
I voted for yes - cause the In-Game-track-Editor has not enough objects and the area on AU1 is not large enough. I miss objekts like PIT-places(!!!), Green areas, kerbs, bridges....

Once, I had to organize an MRT-Cup with 6 tracks, shouldn´t be longer than 1 min to drive. One Race goes over 1 hour.
But that´s a Problem in LFS - SoUnoff1+2 are good tracks, but without PIT.
FE-Club and Aston-Cadet was my selection and for the rest I created some funny AU1-Layout, but without Pit also

I think some good tracks will be created if a REAL Trackeditor for LFS would be published.
tbh I think to many people confuse this "editor" thing.

You'll not get a puzzle style editor to make your tracks but most likely a plugin or some tool to convert your 3D models into LFS format. You'll still need to be able to 3D model. The in-game editor is very good in my opinion for those who can't 3D model. I personally can only model more complex stuff in Z modeler which is no cope for a big object like a track and I struggle to use programs like 3DS Max which are just over my head at times

UT2004 comes with a level editor, and it's pretty comprehensive. It's still extraordinarily difficult to produce anything worth playing, but I have to say that the ECE Bonuspacks are absolutely brilliant. As far as I'm concerned, they're seamless with the original content. I believe they're put together by the UT2004 community.

While you can download hundreds of levels for UT, varying from excellent thru downright unplayable, if you download a community bonuspack you're guaranteed some really really GOOD, bug-free content.

Perhaps in the post-S3 era of LFS, the community itself will in some way self-regulate like the UT2004 community has done, and add some really excellent content to LFS, and keep it alive for years and years to come. Something tells me Eric has some big plans for the future cars and tracks in LFS.

UT2004 is completely different. Different players don't perform differently, so if someone has a player model you dont have, they appear as Jacob (default model I guess you call him). In LFS, all of the cars are different. In that case, there would be mismatch hell like in rF, and all ISI games.

Also, NR2003 is different - for the most part, the physics were not editable. Some people had cracked them, but after F1RST got the rights, they put a stop to that. Also, it used a series based thing, and only the GOOD series were used by people because, well, they were good. There were no crappy single cars that someone made and tried to run with a real series because the game didn't work that way.

That's why modding works in UT, NR2003 and similar games. LFS is different, it's more like rF in the way things are grouped, and we all know whats happened to rF.

I vote NO on the tools. It's hard enough as it is to find a pickup race with a combo I want to drive and enough people to make it fun. As soon as we get mods, it becomes 100 times more difficult.

I think our comunity is taffer than the rF. I think Car-Moddeling shouldn´t be able, but a real Track-Editor will give us a better LFS.

For Example: I have to pic 6 Tracks for our Team-MRT-Cup - Lengh over 1 hour. I want to choise short tracks - cause we are not much but diffrent fast drivers. SoUnoff1+2 have no pit (shit). Aston Cadet and FeClub are the only one i decited to take. Can U tell me which one else is good for us?

If there would be a better Track-Editor (bigger AU, more Objects like PITS, kerbs, Crosslightnigs, Bridges, Greenareas as a Trackborder...or Objekts to import) my vote would be no - maybe, but at this time, my vote was

YES

I think a monthly Trackbuild-Contest for add as an Official-Addon would guaranty a bugfree and manageable feature
