I'm at a loss, Need some help
Sorry to create another lag thread but i'm completely out of ideas.

Before I was able to run LFS comfortably (50-60 FPS) on max settings.
A week ago it dropped down to below 20 fps and wont go any higher.

I'm running a quad core AMD ( at 3 ghz) with 8 gigs of ram and a integrated Nvidia 9100 GPU (256 MB)

After the problem started I did a clean install of LFS in case it was some bad textures or something of that sort...But the problem still exists.

Attached are some of my LFS settings
and a screen shot of my CPU usage during running lfs.

hopefully someone will be able to help me out.

thanks alot.

P.S ...would it have anything to do with running two screens?? LFS on one and the other one blank (but still on)

Turn limit frame rate off for starters. That probably isn't the issue, but its pretty unnecessary

Now LFS isn't multithread optimized, but why is it leaning so heavily on one core...mine is only dual core, but it seems to use both about the same. Is LFS set to use all cores, and not just one?

Did you install any software around the time the slowdown was first noticed?

How many controllers do you have plugged in? (not usually an issue with LFS, but some console ports i've noticed freak out with certain controllers)

Tried using alternate shadow generation?

Updated your video + soundcard drivers?
not sure ....how would i go about checking that?

thanks for the quick reply

but it ran fin before and i dont recall changing any settings.

I recall installing a game around the time it happened but i have since removed it completely

and just one controller :wingman cordless gamepad the same one i have been using on lfs since 2006

What operating system are you using? usually in windows,
Make sure LFS is running (doesn't matter if its menu/race etc)
CTRL+ALT+DEL, click Task Manager, go to processes tab, find LFS.exe, RIGHT click, should bring up a menu
Select Set Affinity, and make sure it has all the cpu boxes selected. It should unless someone else has been playing.

Also update your gfx card drivers.

Is your computer a Laptop?
I already have the latest drivers for my card and LFS is indeed running on all four cores. and also it's a PC (HP)

Re install your gfx drivers anyway, incase they have become corrupted.

Is the fan on the GFX card still working? If the card gets too hot, performance will diminish.
Is it possible that you've enabled Full-scene AA by accident? I think that such low-end graphics card as GF 9100 cannot handle any AA or AF. I bet that disabling AA and AF will get you significant FPS increase.

I've tried that also but there is no change in FPS at all.
I found the problem i checked the tempurature of my GPU and it was at 121* celcius (240* farenheit)

but nothing is clogged with dust so i will invest in a couple of fans.
