The online racing simulator
Has anyone been to a F1 Grand Prix this year yet? I know there's not been many GPs this year. But I was wondering if BMW Sauber had an Exibit Stand? I'm thinking along the lines of the Toyota stand with their simulators.

Hmmmm, a real F1 car with LFS attached!!!!

Oh dear I appear to have messed myself.

Roll on June!

People often forget, how insane these F1 cars really are. They are truly amazing driving machines and I am thrilled to have one in LFS.
If F1 races on TV are a bit dull, I'd say that's because the cars often compete in different classes. They rarely are on exactly the same level where "combat" driving skill becomes important. Someone usually just leads the race from some point on (often from the start) and won't be cought ever again simply because his car is the fastest.
In LFS everyone's car will have the same specs, to me the most important ingredient for exciting races!

So, that's my first post on this board for some months. Gotta admit, the patch has gotten me all excited about LFS again Though, the new tyre physics are the most important feature in my eyes

cheers!
But what if that will be a Grand Prix bike?

It has been suggested that BMW/Sauber's Pitlane Park is why LFS has an F1 car. To quote from the website again:
" Inside are a selection of cars, some race-ready, others stripped down into individual parts. Here, the fans can compare the weight of a Formula One part with its series production equivalent, or slip into some race overalls and have photos taken in the cockpit. An interactive quiz both tests and improves the visitors’ Formula One knowledge, while the Pit Stop Challenge is all about showing off your practical skills. In the driving simulator, meanwhile, it’s you against the clock."

It makes a lot of sense to me. The Pit Lane Park get a first rate sim as an attraction, and we get an F1 car (and hopefully some technical input from BMW/Sauber). It's all rosy as far as I'm, concerned.

To all the detractors, yes I agree that the inital online races with F1 cars will be terrible. I probably won't race one online for some time after the patch is released. I still can't wait to drive the thing offline though. And the idea of Grand Prix length races makes me salivate.

Everyone seems to have forgotten too, that the F1 car is only one part of the patch. There is a lot of content applicable to the other cars. I'm just as much looking forward to driving the existing cars on the new physics and aero model and racing the tin tops online. At the moment there are a lot of crap servers full of crap F08 drivers. I avoid them now as I will avoid the same servers using the F01.

It kind of annoys me how some people see extra content as doom and gloom. It's quite the opposite IMHO.
IMO it shouldn't be under or overrated.. We'll see it this month! It could be great news for the devs as these things might make the sim sell a lot more. However they might not have had any data from the team so the whole car could be a 'very general rough idea F1' as far as physics go. I bet Michelin (edit: or is it Bridgestone this year..) didn't provide any details and surely detailed suspension info etc won't be available..

One thing is for sure, they HAD to improve tyre physics to make this drivable

Or they've put added traction control gadgetry, as in real life

Nahhhh

Assuming it is a fully licenced car, it would probably be "SAU" or "SA1"

The new layouts look stunning although that hairpin is going to be terrifying, looks like its sharp enough to drop the speeds below the downforce "zone", could make for some very interesting formula and GT races.

anything under 100kph is pretty much out of the downforce "zone"

fluid (air) resistance is proportional to the square of speed. that's why downforce becomes so dominant above 200 kph.

100kph..... trail brake, corner.....80kph... fallen off the track on exit.... too much throttle, food mixer impression.

Impressive stuff, does anyone have the equations lfs uses for calculating fluo/aerodynamics? I'd be interested to see how it's represented in game, especially with the wind speed of the track....
Guys, just have a look at some driving in f1 that we've had... races particularly at Malaysia (Webber/Fisichella/Ralf battle in 05), San Marino (Schuey/Alonso battle in 05), and many of the races in '03 (maybe Hockenheim)... these show that when cars are evenly matched, some great dices can be had! These arent GP's where it's just exciting to watch all the cars crash (Spa 98/Melbourne 06/Brazil 03), these races have had some real close exciting battles!

and if ya want to compare cars with the same spec and with some decent downforce... just look at A1 GP.

It can be had and the newly updates physics will help us have that!

I honestly cant wait!
I wondered... with all this BMW thingie...
..why the pic's of the new Aston config. didnt have logos on the tyrebridge...

*cough cough* michelin *cough cough*

Mmmmm, I can't really read Michelin on those F1 tyres, maybe someone can.

Anyway... please, release the patch soon, my DFP will arrive tomorrow or so, and as soon as the patch is released I'll buy the game, so if you want another liscensed driver (I've had enough demo races) release the damn patch!!!
I can't wait for the patch, LFS : F1 run by SimFIA is gonna rock!

Go buy it now, it takes couple of days before you can actually activate LFS after you've bought the license.

Colud explain the new tyre wall graphics feature.

If you use a credit card it just takes minutes to get the license and activate the game.

QFT
shhhhhhhhhhh

wonder how long it will take to make a lap around the oval with this baby...
Quote from SatCP :If you use a credit card it just takes minutes to get the license and activate the game.

Hmm, then I might remember wrong. Well anyway no point to delay buying the license, it's not going to be cheaper after the patch.
Ok ok... DAMN IT... I'm starting to buy it now, in a couple of minutes I should be appearing as S1... ejem, 2 liscensed, and then I have to go to the uni and I won't be able to play until 22h or 23h ggggg.
:jawdrop: long uni day then

btw with the license business, it is all very quick. With s1 i was able to unlock minutes after and with s2...also took few mins. Didnt help tho by accident purchasing a voucher rather then actually buying the license lol so then i just used my own voucher code which wasnt a problem .... but doh!!!
Honestly, you'll get into one of the 'proper' cars, and just be like,

OMGWTFBBQPRWNS it's teh FAST!

I'd say jump in an LX6 maybe first, or just be crazy and hop in the F08 right off. good luck with that!
There's NO WAY ON EARTH that my F1 car is going anywhere near an oval. I'm planning on going somewhere where talent is required and people that can drive are likely to be.
That's it... now I have to go and program a shitty java game. Omg...

I'll be back for luch. Bye.

Release the patch NOW.
