im actually surprised this has never come up, but our pit times for the race cars are just.... WAY to long, plus, when doing pitstops, the fuel is being pumped in.. while the other pit crew members replace the tires (thus.. obviously saving alot of time)

and i seriously think that this needs to be fixed!
You say do all options at the same time?
Per example: change tyres, pump the fuel in, repair the car... at same time.
No the progress the game do now: first: repair the car, next, change tyres, finally, pump the fuel in.

You say that? If is that, i think ok!

Are you taking the piss?

When did you last see a 3 second pit stop on TV? LFS is way too fast atm.
never have seen a 3 second stop unless its just gas... if thats what you mean, our stops... arent that fast
im just saying... it should be refueling while the tires are being changed... not last l ike it is

The pitstops as they are now, are almost like real ALMS (GT racing in general?) pitstops, but reverse. They Fuel the car first, and while they do that, no one else can touch the car. Once they are done refueling, they start changing tires, doing repairs and such.

In for example DTM and F1 they do the whole thing as fast as possible, and in DTM they are down to 5 - 7 seconds for a pitstop, changing 4 tires and pumping in 24 (about) liters of fuel. Doing no repairs unless they absolutely have to.
which also needs to be fixed, because you can have like 30 second pit stops.. when you dont even need one, by the time the tires are done, the car can already be refilled, and also.. if you dont have much damage.. you dont have to wait another 10 seconds for it to somehow be repaired.. that fast.. but still, that should be an option (once again)
The time wich is wasted in repairs is kind of punishment you crashing. If the damage model would have been better you couldnt make it to the pits to repair, so its all right to take some time to fix your suspension and adjust your campers like they were. Damage model just needs some fixing, at the moment you can have something like -45 degree ange in rear wheels of the formulas after crashing and they are still making their job perfectly.
I may be mistaken, but I'm sure I recall Scawen once saying that having to have your damage fixed when you pit is deliberate, and intended as punishment/deterrent from crashing until the damage model produces more sophisticated and accurate car damage.
ai pit
why dont the ai pit?
Because they haven't been finished - it's an ONLINE racing sim, so the focus isn't on AI (yet).

i agree with anything you said in this thread, at least for formula cars, tire changing and refuelling must be at same time.
with bf1 the time lost for such unrealistic pit times, is way too much
I like it how it is to be honest, especially the crash damage repairs. If you smash your car up on track by hitting other cars etc you pay the penalty in the pits, good idea IMO.

The BF1 pitstop times seem about right to me, but some of the cars could do with a little improveent (FXR etc)
to an extent i see the punishment... but when its just a small little damage that has very little effects... i dont see what we should have to deal with it..

and that takes a major part, especially when you just need to run in and get some gas for a last lap or something
If you want faster pitstops, you might as well give us bloody hyperspace tunnels so we can just drive through without stopping and be repaired, refueled, and have a new set of tires all in a matter of nanoseconds!!!!

Here is a prototype:

Think about it XCNuse, your dream come true!!!

Seriously... if anything, some pitstops are way faster than in reallife, some are just as slow. Any usual reallife pitstops are around 7-10 secs long (F1, DTM, etc). Yes, all the tires are done one by one, damage and fuel done one at a time... that could be improved.
nice picture tweak

um, this doesnt have to do with the amount of time, but i still dont get it.. WHY DO I SLIDE INTO PITS! i STILL even with this patch, try to stop like F1 cars do, and i just slide.. everywhere
The problem I have with fixing the damage in the pits is the very minor stuff. You get tapped in the rear in T1, small damage to the back. No big deal, not you're fault either. Later you clip a tire at the apex, again small damage to the front this time. Again, no big deal. You didn't crash and shouldn't recieve any penalty for it. Now you're coming to the last lap in 1st place. 2nd is a good bit behind. You realize you have 2.0% fuel left and running 3.5% per lap. Hit F12, setup for a 5% refuel and jump over into the pits for a splash. WTF!!! It's fixing damage!!! 5 seconds on the front, then 5 seconds on the back and there goes 2nd and 3rd place cars on by!!!

I can see using the "fixing damage" in the pits as a penalty when you crash. But even if you have minor damage not from crashing, but from close racing, getting tapped by someone else, or just clipping a tire barrier somewhere, it shouldn't ruin your finish because of the "penalty".
