It would be good if we had a global contoller setup and the ability to create car specific ones that when present would over-ride the global setup.

In single seat cars I like to use flappy padal gear change but in all other cars h-pattern. So my global setup would be for h pattern and then a custom for the single seat with tweaks for those cars.

It should be possible to copy and remove custom setups from cars so that you create a single seat setup then copy to the other single seaters.
I'll be receiving my ACT H-shifter within a day or two, so I'm really up for this idea

same for the camera angles, have a set per car, not global.

use the "custom view" for that- it works per car. Works well actually.
i have before and it applied it to all cars, has anything changed? gonna give it a try again
As far as I'm aware it isn't exclusive to each car, but each car type...

If you change the "free" camera on FZ50, it will also change on the FZ50 GTR....
I have only adjusted it so far in the XRR and the FZR.. the settings stuck for those cars separately. I can now see the gear indicator a lot better.

Unfortunately you still cannot set the steering wheel on/off per car like we really need- especially since you cannot see any gauges without the wheel in the new F1 car. Looks like it is more back and forth in the options screens every time you change car types.. Oh joy.
I'm using ACT-Labs Shifter and BF1 is thought to be used with sequential shifting, so I have to switch between sequential and shifter in the options menu several times while playing. Could be nice to have independent shift controller per car.

Tis my problem as well. I'd rather see an option to put the gauges on the dash or the steering wheel rather than being forced to see steering wheel to see the gauges.

Switching between gear shifter and paddles are fun as well, especially since my paddles are my look left/right. So, IF I drive the BF1/F08 (I probably won't much), then watch out because I can no longer see left and right. That would be too much changing around in options for how little I drive those cars.

I'd actually still probably use the gear shifter for F08, it's not that bad. But trying to take your hands off the wheel in the BF1 to shift is almost like a death sentence.
It would also be nice to configure all these hard coded controls on the keyboard.. Why do I have to memorize all the Ctrl+n etc etc etc - F1 to F9 - etc etc..

Why can't we set these controls- especially the pit functions- especially the tire wear and temp- especially the really important things to the wheel buttons? I remember them talking about that years ago.. We still need to reach over to the keyboard for many things we should be able to assign to the controller buttons-- or our own choice of keyboard buttons at least..

Is there any reason why after 3 years I still cannot assign F9 to F12 to a steering wheel button within the game? Or maybe even toggle back and forth through them and use the hat switch to change the values of the pit instructions, etc.. I lose more time and crash more form reaching over to the keyboard and hunting for key combos and buttons than anything else.

I better stop thinking about all this stuff, it starts getting under my skin every time I stat thinking about all the years that have gone by and these simple things have not changed.. Ergonomics of LFS controls..
try using a macro for one button of your wheel. Assign a cycle with this keys:

F9-F10-F11-F12-F12

You will do cycles and the last F12 is to close the F12 menu and be ready to cycle again from F9
yup, i suggested this a WHILE back ago, and then someone else did. Shame it hasnt been put in the game yet =/
