I was trying to get a huge variety of things, not necessarily my absolute favorites. Trying to show that there was a huge variety in the genre. It makes sense that people may only like 1 or 2 songs on that list.
Personally, I listen to stuff like you posted when I'm doing homework or just chilling, and the more heavy/upbeat/poppy stuff when I'm in the mood to rage. But I still can't stand the stuff that is just high pitched screechy noises.
and Eskmo - Cloudlight is one of my favorites... some other good songs you have there.
I like how most people mistake Skrillex as dubstep... Sure he does have a few songs that fall under the dubstep category, as 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites', but most of the stuff is a lot faster and it's not really dubstep, but more like Electro House or something... I could go on about that but since this is a Skrillex thread, I am going to go really offtopic and post some dubstep.

A classic dubstep song, no wobble at all, which is awesome. Sadly nowadays people think wobble is everything you need for a dubstep song, hence why people think all of Skrillex's stuff is dubstep. Which is sad
all aforementioned are just subgenres of EDM (electronic dance music, not the most apt description for most of the styles these days anymore but whatever)
and electronica is even broader and more random of a term
Electro (or electro house) for skrillex sounds just about right.
I think that maybe something to do with you being in the US, with the trend of things at the time I don't think 9PM Till I come was as popular over there as say over here in the UK...same with tracks like Darude - Sandstorm, but listening to trance anthems like that and listening to Dubstep now there is a massive difference in the music genre to the point I wouldn't even put them in the same category.
If you're looking for some good melodic dubstep that has the nice intro without the white noise and 'dirtier than' comment drops, just stay well clear of popular Dubstep channels like UKF. Try Blackmill and Phaeleh, you can find them.
I won't go as far as saying I like Dubstep though, it's a genre and you'll find crap and pure gold in any alike.
lol been listening to electronic music all my life too.
First song/video I really liked was Freestyler and when I was about 10 I discovered techno and trance. Then moved to Dnb and have been listening to it since I was 12
Yeah I never got into DnB. I was more into just plain electronic (trance) at the time with lyrics. Even today I'd say the same, there are better songs now though without lyrics than there used to be for sure.
Practically every modern style of music 'plagued' the music scene. I can't think of a style that hasn't, at some point, been commercially successful on some level.
I think it's a good thing that we get new and varying styles hitting the scene, otherwise it's just the same old gash being regurgitated. Not that dubstep is entirely fresh, but it is something a bit different.
The beginning.. I feel, and I like the way it goes, I wish it kept at that direction.
Then dubstep happened.. and what was a very good song.. was ruined within 1 minute's time.
like wtf?! It's just retarded reverb noise and .. junk.
Some people say Dubstep - you either love it or hate it. The main reason why I enjoy it, is because it's different compared to the songs I usually listen to, which are starting to turn for the worst ('top' 40)
I'm not saying I hate dubstep, as some of it is quite good.. but songs like that?
It's obnoxious sounding.. like constant nagging by pad drums and synths.
