Quote from TFalke55 :NASCAR's Montreal race is also on the Qingdao weekend. It would be a WOW! If that is the Plan B, but I doubt it.

I'd have to call that unlikely. If that is Plan B then I would have expected Plan A to be pretty impressive

Road America would have been a cool race for IndyCars if it wouldn't have been rejected
Quote from TFalke55 :Anyone has an idea what the "Plan B" could be RB talks about, should Qingdao fall through? Elkhart Lake (ALMS on the same weekend) was denied, so was Indy Road Course. Since Fontana is not gueranteed the season finale that plan b can happen after it though.

NASCAR's Montreal race is also on the Qingdao weekend. It would be a WOW! If that is the Plan B, but I doubt it.

Two words: Surfer's Paradise.
Aaaaaand the team owners have put off alternative aero kits for another year.
Quote from Yuri Laszlo :Two words: Surfer's Paradise.

Well it Would make Sense since V8 Supercars searched for a Co-headliner during the Off Season. Moreover it Would be the Last ever Chance to Hold a Single Seater Race there. With the New Tram line Being Build in Gold Coast, it won't be homologated for monoposti from next Year on.
Quote from DeadWolfBones :Aaaaaand the team owners have put off alternative aero kits for another year.

Well, maybe RB can contract the interested suppliers to a maximum price. Otherwise we Keep the spec-series Look for One more Season.

Part of iconic was that dallara Would have to give Out their Data they collected troughout the Season to the Other suppliers.
Bring 'em to adelaide!

It won't happen though since it is a street circuit and is only built for once a year for 4 days. And that is the V8 weekend. And that is the first race of the season...

Teams definitly have given some options for Texas. I'm certainly going to be watching this weekend (however on DVR )

I'm disappointed that ABC didn't decide to carry the race this weekend, but with it being a Saturday night I guess that they didn't want to take a ratings risk (which sadly IndyCar is )
Quote from Cornys :

I'm not cause ABC do a shit job
Quote from JackDaMaster :I'm not cause ABC do a shit job

I'm looking at if from the perspective that more people will watch it if it is on ABC. NBC Sports Network does do a better job of the broadcast though
More people would look at the channel on ABC maybe, but more people would end up watching it on NBC, as they would turn it off ABC after 10 minutes of trying to figure out what the **** is going on.

This coming from a ESPN fan boy that would like to put NBC at the bottom of his toilet as he drops a log or two into it. NBC is just taking IndyCar/motorsport more seriously currently while ABC/ESPN is lacking and leaning more toward NASCAR. Oh well.
Here in Australia the first race will be starting around 10:30 AM on sunday (live) so I will definitely be watching. Pretty much all of the nascar/indycar races are in the early monday morning (if it is a sunday race.)

10 Sprint Cup races, an exclusive Nationwide Series contract... Disney is really positioning its channels towards NASCAR currently. Even their oversea channel "ESPN America" is showing a big portion of NASCAR in NASCAR Now.

Honestly, I don't like ESPN/ABC's coverage of NASCAR either..

Mostly I just hate Marty Reid (as I stated earlier in the thread refering to the Indy 500's broadcast)
can't wait for Texas, i want to see how the new car handles a oval that is known for pack racing in the past.
Quote from Mustafur :can't wait for Texas, i want to see how the new car handles a oval that is known for pack racing in the past.

Shouldn't have to worry about pack racing too much. As long as it's quicker to run a low angle wing with this new car they should be okay, but if for some reason they need the extra downforce then they might be in trouble. I woudln't expect that though
Anglo-Saxons moaning about ABC *sigh*

You guys are very lucky to not really know what a genuinely bad sport coverage is

I'd still take Scott Goodyear and Marty Reid over 85+% of the commentators we have here in France. Not that I rate Scott or Marty so highly BTW.

__

(OFF TOPIC) In case you are wondering, here's what a bad French racing coverage looks like:

a) Actual coverage starting several seconds before the lights go out, or AFTER the lights go out.

b) Commentator not focussing on the action when the lights go out, or even worse, finishing the broadcast INTRODUCTION(!) when the lights go out.

c) The broadcast has only 1 commentator(OK, can be understandable if the channel is small).

d) Half of the commetaries consist of over-the-top drivel about one/several driver(OK, Americans have Danica, but it's not even half of the madness we have to face. And at least female drivers are/used to be a novelty, while male French racing drivers are NOT a novelty, at least not for the last 100 years or so.

e) Includes stupid and random bad-mouthing, or even insults from one of the commentators, toward one driver in particular, for no proper reason(includes: Luis Razia has nothing to do in GP2[while he's a series race winner], Adrian Sutil is an moron, beca ... not give way to red cars[well, why should he, when he's in the same lap], Katherine Legge and Simona de Silvestro are only there because of their gender, while Ana Beatriz is the real deal[yea, obviously driving an AA/Chevy instead of a Slotus helps...]).

e2) Commentator withdraws the insult in question, when he realises that the driver he just insulted is French(= Jacques Laffite on Charles Pic, at the latest Spanish GP:doh

f) Commentators have no clue on basic rules of the series they comment on, like points systems.

g) Commentators can't identify one car/bike by the number or the livery.

h) (Indy 500 one) Coverage misses half of the pre-race ceremonies, because the highlights of a 10 GT3s race in Navarra are so much more important than the Indy 500.

i) I guess I could go on, can't recall of more at the moment.

/rant
Tagliani and Franchitti on the front row for Texas. Cars look pretty lively in practice. Looks like we probably won't have old school pack racing.
shhhh we don't wanna know xD Qualifying is now aired on NBC Sports Network
And we're racing!

any picks?
Really hard to tell given how crazy the cars seem to be behaving. These guys have been spoiled by insane downforce levels for a loooong time. Who knows who's actually got the skillz to hang on?

RHR, Dixon, and Power all look pretty good initially.
Hotel wifi too crap and cant watch.... Mehhhhh atleast stanley cup is on
dixon crashed...

wow, possibly the strongest car in the race just crashed...

I think either briscoe or power will win.
Shit luck for Dixon, there.
...but hey, chunky blonde chick shaking her big ol' titties at the camera.
