I liked Matt Leblanc, 'cause he had always been a likable guy.
Chris Evans......... just no!
The new Top Gear track... for God's sake, if it was good for 22 series it sure would be good for another 22. Rallying for guests? Mhmm... maybe for top 10 of the old time board, but what about Kristin Scott Thomas? Would you like to see her, for example, on that track? Bad idea, I hate it! What about the next F1 guest? On this track?

Also, I've been on the internet and I found this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpM76_D5fc0
Quote from Intrepid :Chris Harris is the best presenter they have by a milllleeee so give him a break.

I haven't seen the spin-off bit yet, so no judgement on that Smile

Quote from k_badam :Chris was demonstrating the track not going for a decent time....

Ahhh, that makes more sense than his not burning that take and trying again Wink
S23E02 Reviews; "Tonight ….I get even more shouty!" Evans deadpanned in his introductory voice-over.

But that was the only reference to the near-universal thumbs down given to last week's opening episode of the series, widely derided as a smoke-belching pile-up made worse by Evan’s hyperactivity (ratings were equally disastrous, the lowest for a Top Gear debut in over a decade).

Evans, to his credit, had dialed the bombast back and seemed vaguely conscious of the need to replace smarm with charm.

Granted, the one-liners still arrived on a stretcher and co-host Matt LeBlanc once more resembled a robot escaped from a Friends theme-park: when he laughed the eyes remained tiny and dark.......

And the public says.....

Last week some one said most only watched out of curiosity; I know I did and as my curiosity was satisfied, I did not even bother this week end of.

Replace Evans with Seasick Steve.
(Actually, given his love of cars, not a bad idea !)

Replace Top Gear with the Walking Dead. Far more entertaining..

Get rid of the ginger chimp and you might have a show.

Shouty MacShouty is such a bore and poor old Mat Blanc churning boring old jokes. Shame as Mat appears to be a nice guy and Evans ................

I forgot it was on.

I actually found this episode better than the first which was rather poor. The main problem is the continuation of the old and very tired format which is the biggest anchor around its neck.

I like Chris Evans and I like his courage to take on something as toxic as the Top Gear job and have a go, even though it would never work. I hope he doesn't take the show's failure personally. I didn't watch it this time - I saw it last week. It's a very tired format now and even the last series of the Clarkson era was illustrating that the party was over. The BBC were wrong to revive it. The canned laughter has been there since the beginning. Just watch any previous shows on YouTube and watch the audience. Jenson Button? Might as well get William Wollard back to show us around the engine bay of an Austin Allegro again (one foot on the bumper).

I actually thought this one was better and you're right it is the format that is over done. The last couple of series with Clarkson and co wasn't great as it was getting long in the tooth and they where running out of ideas.

I think over time they may well adapt the show as they judge the public's opinion and whether you like or hate Evans he can certainly take on a challenge, Taking over the Radio 2 breakfast show everyone thought he would fail after following in Wogans shoes, a tough gig for anyone. But he's still there and making that work, so hopefully he has the same success with Top Gear, as said I just think it's going to take time to adapt into the "new" top gear.

This is what I thought after the fracas! Clarkson and Co. were getting bit bored of either the BBC or the ageing format so Jeremy decided to quit in his traditional controversial manner.

I don't really mind the new Top Gear, at some points it is quite funny (those bits tend to be when Evans is off the screen) and the way i see it is that we now have two car shows (we already had 2 but one of them was quite low on budget) to watch. I also think it would be a good strategy for the BBC to get rid of crappier Chris and put the better one on the main show!
I agree badam, the new TopGear isn't bad at all. I really like the change in the track as well, adds another dimension.

Give them a bit more time to get that chemistry locked in. However, I Still kinda wished Sabine was a main presenter along with Evans and Tribbiani Tongue

PS. Still can't wait for The Grand Tour...
Quote :This Sunday’s all-new Top Gear TV is a knockout show. Quite literally. We’ve got the heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony Joshua, as one of the stars in our rallycross Mini, alongside American comedian Kevin Hart.

But there’s more. Much, much more. Chris Harris takes on the might of Ferrari’s 770bhp F12tdf – after being introduced to its 250 GT ‘TdF’ predecessor. Cue much sideways.

Elsewhere, Harris’s Extra Gear co-host Rory Reid takes on 2016’s ultimate hot hatch battle, as he pits the stonking new 345bhp Ford Focus RS against the Mercedes-AMG A45 and Honda Civic Type R.

To cap it all off, Sabine Schmitz drives Audi’s brand new R8 V10 at the lightly terrifying Laguna Seca circuit… with Chris Evans on board for a spirited hot lap. You know what happens next. Strawberries.

Oh, and Matt LeBlanc takes a tour of London… in a modified Ford Mustang nicknamed ‘Hoonicorn’ and a certain Mr Ken Block as his guide.

Tune in Sunday, 8pm, BBC Two and BBC Two HD. And don’t forget to switch straight over to Extra Gear on BBC3 and BBC iPlayer at 9pm

So sounds like a great show without Evans at the forefront... and rather symbolically they include him puking up.

If it is similiar to the /DRIVE video with the F40 vs F50 then this might be good. Although with 250GT vs that 'modern thing' there is not much too compare except, "lol it is totally different"?

Chris Evans has quit top gear after ratings plummet....thank god he's gone.

Mark Linsey, director of BBC Studios, says Evans believes that the remaining producing and presenting team will be able to "take the show forward and make it the hit we want it to be."
Praise the Lord!
My favorite there is Matt, he can still improve in this presenter role.
However... I think Clarkson, Hammond and May will eat them for breakfast once their show starts.
It is the Sun...
yeah the sun used to have good page 3's. used to..
Quote from e2mustang :yeah the sun used to have good page 3's. used to..

Like Top Gear really.... Top Gear was rebranded as Clarkson, Hammond and May for many years now.
Every knockoff, USA, Aust, etc failed completely by trying to follow the same format, which could never work.

So, what does the BBC do ?, repeats every mistake made on every other knockoff..... Well done Team BBC.

(Oh, and (yet again) hire someone now alleged with sex abuse, well, it is the BBC)
"SPECIALIST sex crimes cops last night took over the probe into claims Chris Evans repeatedly grabbed a colleague’s breasts.
Television and radio presenter Evans, 50, will be formally questioned under caution shortly by detectives from the Metropolitan Police SCO17 Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse command."

Let's see if they have the brains to recreate the program without reusing scripts and actually create a new show..... (NO)

Anyway, The Grand Tour, VERY un-PC, 250 tickets in the tent, open for everyone, unless you drive a peugeot, or are a moron....

(Sleezy Chris Evans photo's and story, like Page 3.........)
"Earlier, in his teens, Evans earned pocket money by draping his puny, white torso in a leopard-skin and staging a Tarzan strip-o-gram act. Such behaviour convinced one friend that Evans was 'absolutely fascinated with nakedness — his own and other peoples', male or female'.
It was a view shared by production staff on TV programmes such as The Big Breakfast and TFI Friday, where Evans attained stardom as a brilliant, idiosyncratic presenter. They grew accustomed to the sight of his gingery nether regions.
Some were deeply offended, others laughed it off as part of his zany personality. But so far as we know, no one ever complained.
However, that was 25 years ago, when a culture of 'laddishness' and anything-goes lewdness prevailed in showbiz circles. At the time, Chris Evans personified this — wandering around the studios in an orange-and-blue striped bathrobe which was undone, like a debauched Roman emperor, and even parading his naked body on screen."

Wait, we're three seasons in and noone discussed this?

Have watched the first two, and I do like it a lot, getting rid of Chris Evans was the right move.

I especially like that there are very genuine moments in it, and the scripts, at least until now, focus more on the challanges and cars and less on the highjinks of the presenters. Which, btw, have some chemistry between them.

IMHO better than The GRand Tour, at least for now.
Well, when TVNZ bother to buy this in 4 years time I'll have some way of seeing it. Till then, the only way would be to pirate it which is illegal so I guess I'll just wait.......

Maybe the BBC could look at some way of legally streaming it worldwide.......
Like, oh, I don't know, maybe like 'The Grand Tour' does.

The BBC does actually understand about the Internet, they just don't let anyone actually see their products on it.
A+ for marketing and sales there.

Still, any program without Shouty McShoutface MUST be better than anything with him in it.

How's the new 'Great British Bakeoff' going, we haven't brought that yet either. Big grin
I do believe that's another program to suffer from the rule, 'Make sure you aquire the talent before you buy the naming rights.'

The previous series of 'Top Gear' bombed so badly that TV here has no interest in paying money for the latest disaster. Maybe the current series is great, shame that it needs to prove its greatness all over again.

I'm certainly looking forward to eventually seeing the new Top Gear if it is actually that good. Shame the BBC are no longer in the position to sell it to a viewing audience.
