What i actually want is a cleaner Desktop...
All i want to see of my Folders is the Letters, but not the Folder itself.
I tried using "blank" icons available in the selection, but they give me a black Background.

Tried myself to do it in Gimp, but failed...i just dont know how to do it
Any help would be appreciated

Done this by accident before....

Right click desktop icon
Properties
Customize tab
Change Icon button
Scroll along till you see a blank space between icons (about 13 columns)
click on blank space between visible icons (there are about 4 spaces)
click ok
click Apply
click ok
If icon doesn't disappear, then refresh screen

And to make it truly invisible (no name, just empty space) then right click the blank icon, "Change name", erase the name and press alt+0160

Thats what i already tried...gives me a black background.
Every single of them.

Hmm...shows up as black also...im confused.
Tried also both Win classic, and Win 7 aero, just to see if it makes any difference...but it doesnt.

I'm using Win7 Pro 64bit and works for me.
You could also try Desktop Icon Toy that lets you make icons and/or text invisible, along with making shapes on your desktop.
If you do try that program, the layout settings are accessed using right click via the icon in the windows notification tray/area.
Using this will do all your desktop icons at once, rather than having to do them one at a time.

Well then id need to know what the heck im doing wrong
Also tried that Tool you suggested, but that blanks out the entire desktop, instead of just the Icons...and it made my Explorer crash twice

That is just how windows displays the preview of the .ico file itself. Assign the icon to a file/link and it should show correctly.

Try the ones from the attached file.



Note for Victor: you should really allow .7z extension for attachments

well i did and it didnt make a difference...

also just tried yours Lotesdelere, didnt work as well...i can only guess that my pc is somewhat fked up.

Check if you are using 16bit or 32bit colours in Windows

No its not a Shortcut.
Just an ordinary Folder directly on the Desktop.

See attached for what happens when I use the tool (just to prove it works on my pc).

Also, try the smaller invisible icon attached (you'll need to rename from a .txt file to .ico).
