I have a G25 and I used a Logitech Extreme 3D pro as my handbrake.

The axis all clearly show up and seem to function in the options menu. I try to assign my desired axis to the handbrake function, but it doesn't work at all for some reason.

You need to assign it to a button - it should work :3

Handbrake on axis works too. (for ex. using a joystick)
You probally must set the range of the axis, the controlls menu was changed.

I tried to set the axis range from -1000 to 996 (I made a custom axis using dxtweak and the movement looks fine in the bars on the right side of the options menu) it still doesn't work at all.

What car are you trying it in? Handbrake was disabled in all single seaters in a recent patch.
