Round 1

Sunday,17th May
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET* / 20:30 EET*

* Summer time

This is where STARL started one year ago - at the dusty short oval layed out in infield of Westhill,allthought back then not being a champioship round. This year the Dusty 300 is a part of way to champion's title,and it will be the longest round of the schedule both in race distance (180km) and timed length (just under 2 hours). Question is - can you make it without pitstop? Last year showed it's possible,but a possible win was lost for one of the drivers when he run out of fuel with less than a half lap to go.

As usually in oval events,RGE will use hotlap qualifying,where drivers will be alone on track and will have just 2 timed hotlaps to set their best time for qualifying results. Qualifying order will be 2019 series standings in reversed order,where drivers not in standings will follow in signups order. Minimum qualifying session length is 20 minutes and race start will be approx. 10 minutes after qualifying. Tyre warming will not be allowed as it is very time consuming here,that means after being called out,drivers must join the session and drive towards the track as fast as possible.

For the 2nd time drivers were facing the RGE's challenge of 300 circles around the small loop of Dirt oval,10 drivers were ready to face the challenge,but 3 of them quit before completing 1/10 of the distance. Remaining 7 fought through the pain and scored a finish (on of them just by completing the required 2/3 of distance before retiring) - on of them completed all 300 laps without pitting. But it wasn't the winner of the race - the winner pitted twice before taking the chequered flag. G.Peet was the fastest on track,used most resources on the way and also set the fastest lap of the race on his way to race win,starting from pole position he lead all 300 laps. Defending series champion Unite set a weak laptime in qualifying,but used his experience from last year and rallied through the field to finish 2nd just 6 seconds behind winner without pitting for fuel - proof once again that different strategies can work here. Best of the rest was Snoopy,who finished 6 laps behind winner in 3rd place,while the only actual on track fight lasted for almost whole race was for 4th position - it was won on better fuel calculation by Rony,who finished 4th,J.A.Katila crossed the finish line 5th with only fumes in his engine.

Win,pole position and fastest lap of the race means 4 points advantage over closest rival - that's the race winner's G.Peet's gap over defending champion Unite after 1st round,Snoopy is another 2 points behind. Same situation is in Oval Trophy table with only 1 round left for this small award - round 4 will decide the STARL's best oval racer. The fight for Rookie of the year award is between G.Peet and Snoopy,with Jam in 3rd.

Teams Championship currently has a points tie for lead - TRR leads WCL on tiebreaker,NRG is 3rd with defending champions RGA in 4th.

Nations table is led by defending champions Finland,which has 5 points lead over Estonia,another nordic nation Sweden is currently 3rd.

In 2 weeks after round 1 comes the 2nd round at Aston - it will feature the configuration named South,which consists from 2 different tightening 180° left turns and a chicane with downhill braking zone. The race there will feature 80 laps around this 1.89km course and probably a plenty of run-offs in turns due misjudging the position in those tricky tightening turns.
