Round 2

Sunday,31st May
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET* / 20:30 EET*

* Summer time

It's quite a transition from 4-turn dirt oval to 5 turn road course - but this is the character of STARL! The Aston South features 2 different tightening 180° left turns,a chicane and a kink just before the start finish line - both tightening turns are the ones which will decide the pace,as driver needs to find the best line through and also best braking point - you'll go flat out the early part of turn one before searching the right place to lift and apply brakes. Do it wrong and you'll either run out wide or lose a lot of speed.

Current standings after 1 round of 6 does not mean much - they still have an effect and drivers on top of standings have an advantage,but everything can still change,as a dominant newcomer would just need to win remaining 5 rounds without need to calculate points for claiming the series champion title.

IMPORTANT! Due very specific pitlane entry,using left turn light or emergency lights are mandatory when entering pitlane - at latest lights must be turned on right after exiting last 180° turn!

After the mentally difficult 300 laps at the short oval,round 2 seemed like a walk in a park with plenty of grip and relatively simple track,but the attendance proved other way round - only 5 drivers arrived and were ready to face this round,which caused the clause of race distance reduction to kick in - Aston 150 practically turned into Aston 75. T.Soini was the fastest in qualifying and used the inside front row start to pull away from the rest - behind him it turned into a 3-way battle for 2nd place (one of the drivers telepitted for some changes and failed to return to grid before green lights),where all 3 were searching for the best line through the tricky turn one. After leading 25 of 40 laps,T.Soini made a mistake and lost his lead to Rony,who kept it until the checkered flag to take his 1st STARL racewin,the polesitter and fastest lap owner finished 2nd with Snoopy clinching the remaining podium finish.

With winner of 1st round not attending and 2nd place owner failing to finish the race,the drivers championship table has been mixed up and we have 5 points gap between 1st and 6th. Rony leads the table by 1 point over G.Peet,T.Soini and Snoopy are 2 points back,where the finn is ahead on tiebreaker. In Rookie of the Year standings G.Peet keeps the lead,but now is ahead by just 1 point over Snoopy.

WCL picked up most points in 2nd round by having 2 drivers in 5 driver field and took the lead in Teams championship table - they now have 10 points lead over both RGA and TRR,where the earlier is ahead on tiebreaker of having 2nd best finishing position.

Nations cup table is the only chart which kept the same leader - Finland increased it's gap to 15 points and leads by Latvia and Estonia,which has the same tiebreaker situation as in teams table with RGA and TRR.

2 weeks after round 2 will be the toughest track of this year's schedule - it's the paved version of Fern Bay Rallycross Long custom configuration. Lap lenght is just over 2 kilometers and features twice as many turns as the average of all other tracks,which makes this circuit the slowest road course of the series.
