Round 5

Sunday,12th July
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET* / 20:30 EET*

* Summer time

Left turns are dominant for the second round in row,but this track features a right turn and it's a tricky one - the narrow chicane is famous for troubling even the most experienced drivers. This is deffinitelly the most familiar track on the league schedule this year - the very classic urban configuration with appropriate name,featuring just 6 turns,each of them offers a different challenge. 74 laps are required to complete the nominal distance of 150 kilometers.

With 2 rounds left the situation in league table has cleared up slightly,but there is a huge potential of things to change as 4 drivers are still within the round points maximum of 17,one of them - the defending series champion and also round winner. Drivers outside the 17 points mark still are in the hunt for the title,but their chances are rather slim - they need an outstanding performance in both remaining rounds and trouble for their rivals. This is the last round where new entries will be accepted as in final round only drivers received at least one point in standings will be allowed to participate.

This round was named after the sponsors of RTFR events and it gathered a total of 11 drivers,from which one failed to qualify for the race,ironically it was one of the sponsors' team. The race was held in a very familiar configuration named Classic,which partially was quite easy,but included a gamebreaker section,which took care of few position changes. One of those was for lead - when polesitter made a mistake in the narrow chicane,Upsas took over the lead and kept it for remaining 62 laps to make his first STARL finish a racewin. Falcon set the fastest lap in qualifying for the 2nd round in row,but also this time was not able to convert it into racewin - 2nd position again. Unite was the 3rd driver in 3 car group in the race lead,but no changes in positions were made,as the battle happened remotely,where drivers were just increasing/decreasing gaps.

Before the final round a total of 5 drivers are eligible for drivers champion title,however 2 of them (Trespasser and J.A.Katila) are 16 points behind lead and require a win with top2 drivers failing to score a point. So realistically only top3 drivers are candidates for the title - Rony currently leads T.Soini by a single point with defending series champion Unite in 3rd 9 points apart from lead. Despite Trespasser not finishing this race,he's still ahead in Rookie of the Year standings by 13 points over G.Peet.

If the gap between leaders in drivers championship is just 1 point,in teams championship situation is even more exiting - defending champions Race Green Autosports has now taken over the lead in table,but just on tiebreaker as the points count is tied with World Class Lions. RGA might have a slight advantage in final round as they have 3 eligible drivers against WCL's 2. Theoretically also the 3rd position TRR is eligible for teams title,but they have to delete a 25 points deficite with 30 points available.

After 5 rounds of 6,Finland has already secured the 2nd STARL Nations Cup title in row,but the race for 2nd position is still open - Lithuania leads Latvia by a single point,but Latvia has a disadvantage here by having just 1 eligible driver for final round against Lithuania's 2.

Due the forced schedule change final round is 4 weeks apart (in 9th august),so there is plenty of time to prepare for season finale at the Rockingham's custom track East Handling Sprint,where a 100 lap race awaits. The track features oval's turns 2 and 3,where after the latter a sharp hairpin follows - the course uses the closest roads to oval's section to return back on oval. This 1.48km configuration has already been tested in RTFR race and fits perfectly as part of Short Track Auto Racing League.
