VERL 2020 - Round 3
V8 Racing League 2020
Round 3

Sunday,11th October
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

Aston probably is one of the most known environments of LFS S2 content as it features configurations apropriate for all cars, while the VERL car Formula V8 feels right in all of them. So does the 2nd shortest configuration codenamed "Club" - a circuit just over 3 kilometers in lenght, featuring long front stretch,a hairpin, followed by tricky S-turn,while circuit's final section has a difficult curved braking zone for final turn, where the inner front tyre will lose the perfect round chape very quickly if driver is not careful enough - finishing 65 laps on same set of tyres might be a tricky task.

After 2 rounds the first ever VERL champion leads the table by a healthy margin and a win also in 3rd round might make him almost unreachable in standings, while a mishap or two would open up the race for title - the middle round of the 5 round season will decide how many and who are still eligible for all the titles.

Round info:
Track: Aston Club (AS2)
Laps: 65
Previous winners: Dzban (2019), v\A.Wiśniewski (2018; 2016), [SR] S.Litmanen (2015)

Each round of this year's VERL series had some different traits - first one was decently attended but had high atrition rate. Second was lower attended and still had high atrition rate. This one had best attendance so far,but a total of 4 qualified drivers did not take their place on grid and just 3 retired during race, while two championship leading drivers did not attend. This low attendance leaves plenty of championship points free - a driver just completing required 2/3 of all 3 races so far would have scored 15 points and together with attendance bonus points it would put him in 12th place in standings.

But again there was a finnish flag above the top step of the podium (actually above all 3 podium steps this time) - Maunokasa took over the leader's honor and led every single lap of the race, but his win was everything else than dominating. 2nd place finisher Fatass crossed the finish line less than 4 seconds behind winner, while Gemini's gap to winner was just over 5 seconds and he even set the fastest lap of the race - this trio had an ever growing gap to followers in the race while trying to chase the driver ahead or pull away from driver behind.

The middle round of the schedule mixed up the standings table quite drastically, only leader kept his position, but S.Litmanen's lead has been cut down to 8 points now - Ayoub Maroc gained a position and is now 2nd in table,Fatass is 3rd,another 6 points behind. The latter also leads Rookie of the Year standings,he's currently 9 points ahead of winner of this round Maunokasa.

Team S1DUS scored a round number of 0 points in this round and sees their lead cut to just 4 points - RGA gained 15 points during this round. 3rd is team named "a",15 points off table lead. Different situation is in Nations Cup table - Finland scored all possible 39 points and is now massive 72 points ahead of both Hungary and Marocco. Finland can practically secure the 5th title by scoring just 6 points during next 2 rounds.

The 4th round will decide what will be still open for grabs in season finale - after usual 2 weeks break the VERL racers will meet in South City, where the well known Chicane Course configuration in reversed direction will wait for it's challengers. The race will be 69 laps long, which means 69 passes through the unforgiving narrow chicane, while drivers still can get caught out in few other sections if not being careful enough.
