The online racing simulator
Quote from Leifde :When joining an online game I just get a black screen. I can click buttons and hear cars but I just can't see anything

Is this the same thing thisnameistaken reported? Going to a window and back to full screen causing a strange video bug?

If so then I guess you can solve it by turning off "Window while connecting".

I have no idea how changing to window and back could cause a problem. I don't remember changing anything in that part of the program, though I will keep investigating.

EDIT : OK - I've reproduced that bug here. I'll fix it tonight or tomorrow. As thisnameistaken said - it's only a problem if you start LFS in full screen, then switch to window and back to full screen.
I love the ultra fast startup

I think I had one "black screen of death" when returning from a stopped host check (windowed) to the LFS multiplayer screen (full screen) but I can't reproduce it now. Maybe it already tried to change screenmode but got stuck in "closing X connects..." mode and I was just too fast in closing LFS manually.

Changing from windowed to full screen seems to take longer and is a bit more flickery, too. I dunno, maybe I just didn't notice it before.
I'm also getting black screen just like thisnameistaken described. Happens only if LFS is started in fullscreen.

I got R9000 with Catalyst 5.2.
My problem has nothing to do with it being windowed. It just goes black once i connect to the server. I am running a Nvidia Geforce fx5200 driver version i cant get right now, i got to install my stuff so i can race in 5 mins
Quote from NotAnIllusion :File associations work, but unlocking on Win XP Pro x64 does not. I was greeted with an "Unknown command" message, every time I tried unlocking.

Sorry, I just forgot to update the master server. The unlocking should work now.

I've reproduced it by doing the following:
Start up LFS U7 in the über quick mode, select multiplayer, and join. Then Shift+F4 in to window mode and Shift+F4 into full screen mode. This is when it gets stuck in a black windowed screen, where I can still operate the wnd, just can't see it.

*ah dang, too late
Thanks Scawen!!!
No problems so far...
Thanks for the update! nice to be able to open hotlap spr's directly from lfs-world!

although I had these black screen moments too...
never had a black screen moment here, however there is the issue of incompatibility with anything other than U or T5

Phew. Always nice to find out it's not just your box that's being crap.
U8
OK. Here's a U8 update.

Please could anyone who got the black screens, try this and see if it fixes the problem. Something I tried has been restored to the way it was before, so it should now work fine.

EDIT : U8 download removed - please use improved version U9 (link in first post of thread)
wow, 2 patches in 2 hours and 48 minutes!

Fixes it for me. Nice one.

Quote from Spudster :wow, 2 patches in 2 hours and 48 minutes!

I don't think my computer could even compile two patches in under three hours
Btw, my weird flickering went away when I changed the desktop resolution to that used in LFS (stupid me)

OK, I've added U8 to the compatibility list for S and T now.

I've made a note about LFS not coming to the foreground when you click on a new replay, and that maybe it should back out automatically from the select replay screen. I say maybe, because it won't be easy to code for all the situations where LFS could automatically get itself back to the entry screen before running the replay. That's why I took the simple option of telling the user that LFS must be waiting in the entry screen. Not sure what to do about that yet.

Thannks for the patches!

One small suggestion - with .set files, why don't you make them use Windows Associations too, moving them to the settings folder when double-clicked? And something that has been bugging me since the last patches - when in a custom view, the on-wheel settings for the single seaters don't work. I like to use a slightly higher position for the BF1 so I can see the road better and they don't work then.

The black screen bug no longer appears for me in U8. Also, unlocking now worked on XP x64. Thank you!
Works great here. The startup is fantastic, and being able to open replays externally is great. Thanks!
Wow, that new speedy startup is amazing Very impressed
Nice updates.

Thanks!

love the start up speed now Sca, from 10 seconds there abouts to 2 seconds.. mucho love there
LfS is absolutly the fastest loading game ever now... nice touch of the file associations, any chance it can be a button to let it do (like Winamp or Mediaplayer Classic)
BTW, Scawen, can u pls add more value for option Mirror offset lateral?

A .set file can also be a type of compressed file, which is one reason why some people have so many problems with downloading set's from the web.

Damn windows and its lack of content degotiation / mime, and its dependance on extensions!

Btw, nice quick start feature Scawen
Woah, I think we have the fastest starting software now, loving that speedy startup
