How do. Just looking through the site, and was wondering, if dates ( day specific ) was mentioned, without me trawling through 11 pages. On the site, it just says Month, but no date or day. Also, can you enter at any time, can you miss races ( if you don't favour the combo, i.e. rallyx )

Thanks Guys, and Girls

1. Dates are usually around a weekend mid-month. The actual day is announced around one month prior to the race.
2. No, "I won't participate because I just don't feel like it" isn't really appreciated. It would just sound odd in the coverage and the driver's championship would suffer a lot. But of course we aren't professionals. So if you miss a race because of personal restrictions that isn't a problem. I myself had to miss round 2 because I'm currently not at home where my steering wheel is.

The drivers in this league are genuinely determined to turn up and race whenever possible. 6 FXO drivers and 3 XRT drivers turned up for what was guaranteed to be a really hard drive for them, against the RB4.

In fact, I must take my hats off to those guys because despite the odds, they were genuinely competitive and fought really hard and well. They proved that driver ability really can offset the deficiencies in the cars.

The amount of effort that Becky, Tristan, Mike and others put in to the post-race stewarding and video production would be totally betrayed by any drivers in the league who were half-hearted about participating in the EASIEST and most FUN part of it all - the racing itself.
Sorry I typed that in wrong. Its not a case of "I don't want to " its a case of I am more dangerous on the Rallyx that i am off it

I appreciate the work that goes into League like this ( Me running ESL and OLFSL league some time ago ) really know how much effort, hard work and determination goes to make these leagues successfull.

Thanks

You may join at any time, but there is a waiting list. Currently a proposal to extend the number of driver slots is being considered and seems to be a popular decision so that is likely to be implemented in the next week, if it goes ahead only 1 driver will be left on the waiting list and i'm sure he'll move into the series proper very soon as there was a small driver turnover after round 1.

When it comes to attendance you'd be kicking yourself in the teeth for not attending, the points system doesnt make allowances for non-attendance and the bonus points system ensures there's plenty of points up for grabs even if you are in an XRT on RallyX. As far as regulations on attendance are concerned there is nothing formal, but regular non-attendance will be reviewed (especially when the waiting list is long...).

The race dates I am currently moving toward the start of the month in order to give us a long Christmas break (because it feels like I am permanently working on STCC + LFSC atm), I do my best to avoid clashes with other series and use the Clanshells calendar (as its the most comprehensive I have found) to avoid clashes. BTW: Thanks for the reminder I need to post the date after this post . Up to round 5 is booked at Clanshells.
Thanks for that Becky. I will double check with the Lady Boss

Reminder to everybody. When you get married, check the small print :ices_rofl

You won´t believe it but at the end it was quite fun riding the XRT. Exhausting for sure but fun (and I´m no drifter and Rally or Rallycross are not my favourites for sure)
I know, before the event I gave the XRT's a spin, I was like 2 seconds off pace, then totally noobed myself into the wall. I have mad respect for those XRT drivers now.
I watched the commentary video at YouTube today, and it was great. Aside from the racing, the commentary itself was interesting enough to keep me watching for the full 37 minutes. I really liked the RL-style it was made in.

Nasty mistake by [MG] Green on the final corner though - that would've had me swearing something crazy

Nice work all, I'm looking forward to watching the next round!
Funny you should mention that, you may have more in common with Jak Green than you realised
One thing I'd like in the future, would be a system to allow the commentator to talk to the drivers (with their consent) during the race, so that we can ask them how things are going etc. It would also have the advantage that we can record their voices during crashes for use in an outtakes episode.

However, we can't do that for as long as commentary is recorded after the race (i.e. not live), and this can't be done until LFS has a few more systems in place, so that a 'director' can watch multiple streams and select them in real time, apply overlays of information that are updated in real time, allow a commentary team to watch the race and see the same images as each other without taking up spaces on a server.... and a whole lot more stuff.

Maybe for S3?
If I could set up camera points that continually stream their output to a central application that let me select which camera, and had the ability to call up a real time replay - which really needs a second person and a networked application - and we had the facility for the entire team to communicate (ie: mic on/off) and and and...

I think you may have to settle for pre-race interviews if I can find some drivers who have both the willing and the technology...
For the pre Race Interviews, maybe we could use the recording feature in teamspeak, have the commentator and the driver discussing/getting ready, then the commentator will go "Ok, we're gonna start recording in 5, 4, 3, 2,1," then do it that way?
Teamspeak has a bit of a delay to it, but it might feasibly work for pit radio communications. For interviews with drivers, probably Skype would work better. There's quite a bit you can do after the fact with voice "sweetening", to reduce the "telephone" effect. I'll shop around for a high codec audio tunnelling program and see if there's anything worth considering.

My dear chap, our friend here is asking the correct procedure for entering a series like the STCC, and how the details of the events are communicated to the entrants.

\adjusts monacle.
hehe!

Okay, serious face on for a serious point...

SuLLy, it's actually very important that you type in full, and as near as possible correct English on this forum. The MAIN reason for this is that it is an ENGLISH written forum, with international membership. Many visitors have some difficulty (but they try their best) writing and reading GOOD English, without people being lazy and writing very POOR English.

The sentences I've noticed you post today are JUST readable by me, as a native English speaker, and it's simply not fair to expect non-native English speakers to try to decipher that stuff. Please make an effort

The official Bean0fish translation...

How do you(u) enter the(da) races like these(dese) and(nd) when(wen) do you(u) know(no) when(wen) they're(der) on thanks(thnks).

I understood the message Sully. Regrettably the STCC has made a very conscious effort to distance itself from internet culture and present a professional image, none-the-less, if you can fill out the entry form correctly you are welcome to join.

Races are on Sundays and are held at a rate of 1 a month.

To join goto the STCC website and download the entry pack.
dissapointed
I watched the round 1 broadcast & have to say that its lacking a bit. Beckys dubbed voice sounds like some transexual & the way that you have spliced bits into tristans boring commentary just makes a mockery of all the effort you have put in so far.

why is your voice dubbed?

tristan needs some happy pills b4 comentating (although it is hard to enthusiastic for such a long time) Its hardly BTCC exitement is it?
That has to be the most mean and mealy-mouthed post I've seen since joining the LFS community. Wow.
I couldn't disagree more anttt69. You're just complaining for the sake of feeling better, aren't you?

Don't moan about someones voice - you're born with it, and you can't change it. Becky's voice is fine. And yes, her bits were spliced in because Mike, our regular second commentator, couldn't make it in time. Since then we have appointed LawVS as our reserve commentator.

As for the commentary being boring, you are of course entitled to your opinion. BTCC has very poor commentary, and driving standards that make STCC look like syncronised pirouettes, so hardly a good comparison.

And our voices aren't dubbed. Dubbed implies using someone elses voice over an actors mouth movements. The only way we could get a voice over is to record it and merge the audio and video. So it HAS to be like that (not dubbed). As for me needing happy pills I think you'll find you don't know me. If my voice doesn't transfer excitment to you then thats your loss - I personally enjoying watching the race whilst commentating, and I hoped that came across in the recording. But I've never done anything like this before, so it's a steep learning curve.

I work on the principal that ANYTHING posted on the internet is open for critisism (which is why I make a point of critising something when someone asks for only 'good' critisism), and therefore your views WILL be taken on board. But people I know and respect (and people I don't know but respect) have given some very nice feedback (not all of it good). You might want to go the 'Constructive Critisism School for Idiots' before commenting on our work.

Thanks. As Sam says I think you're just being mean for the sake of being mean or different.
