For the first time since Open Endurance Cup Three, the duo of K.Takahashi (FasTLT) and R.Takahashi (Excellent15) are not on the top spot of the podium, as Cruise God's Infern0 (tr0l) wins using a different strategy with the minimum pit stop times. Meanwhile in the LRF class, LFS.HU repeated their victory in a class with more competitors putting Lacko86 and his team into third position overall respectively.
For the #75 UFR the event started perfect as it was put it into pole position with a 2:02.52 around the 5.8 km long Westhill International circuit. But Infern0 (tr0l) lost a couple of positions at the start, exiting Turn 2 in second position. It him took four laps to recover into the runner-up position, over 7 seconds behind R.Takahashi (Excellent15) took an early lead for the #01, seemingly on the way to their 6th Open Endurance Cup victory in a row.
The top three positions seemed to be set in stone from that point on as the third position of the best XFR Free Candy Racing's was never under thread by the cars behind, although Gugelhupf Racing Team closed the gap towards the end. The Austrians again had a bad start, dropping from 3rd into 10th but charged back into fourth at the end of the 500km long race. The race saw many position changes especially in the highly competitive mid-field.
When K.Takahashi (FasTLT) exited the pit lane on Lap 64 after Akagi Red Suns' final pit stop he was overtaken by the #75 before the braking zone into Turn 1. Different strategies concerning the UFR's minimum pit stop time and a bit of luck with the traffic gave the other red and white UFR an advantage. The #1 was never able to fight back for the lead.
A 400% increase in starters also resulted in an interesting race in the LRF class, which saw the pit stop time balancing greatly in effect as there were many position changes. Daniel Lukastik (D4NO) took the lead of the race after Lacko86's first pit stop, as the #11 decided to use their minimum standing time on their second one completely while the #99 spread it equally. However unlike in the NGTR class, LFS.HU reclaimed the lead on track from the car on the different strategy on lap 48 as Regen Motorsports was not able to match the pace of neither LFS.HU nor the RAC of E-Z Rollers in this phase of the race.
The Akagi Red Suns stay in the lead of the overall Open Endurance Cup standings while LFS.HU, helped by the increased number of starters in their class, climbs into the third position.
The complete results and standings can be found in the Open Endurace Cup subsection.
