Due to some communication issues between the GT Series and the46 network we were unable to provide the community with the broadcast that was promised. We hope to have this restored in time for round 2.
M.Daszkiewicz of the Conquest Racing team managed to grab pole with a blistering time of 1:43.360. Followed closely by H.Jaakkola of the spdoRacing team who did a 1:43.380. The third spot on the grid, with a time of 1:43.620, went to the Latino CoRe driver A.Chiodini.
In the 9 lap sprint race R.Osza, who races for DISCoRe, secured the top spot with a superb last lap move on the Sim Racing Lithuania driver T.Ostgaard. Tommy had a very consistent race but had to settle for 2nd place. He finished only +0:00.290 behind the leader. B.Keough took the last spot on the podium with a well deserved 3rd place, working hard from his 9th place qualifying position.
The last race of the evening was the 18lap feature race, this race would test the drivers consistency and ability to take care of the tyres. This race also features a full reverse grid. A.Pavars of the 4 Stroke Racing Team was very unfortunate. On the 16th lap his right front tyre punctured costing him his 5th place, thankfully he was still able to bring the car home in a points scoring 10th position. H.Jaakkola won the feature race comfortably. Having started on 20th position due to the reverse grid system, he managed to fight all the way to the front, he also managed to set the lap record (1:43.240) and gain a +0:07.670 margin over the 2nd place driver, L.Malecki of DISCoRe. M.Daszkiewicz of Conquest Racing grabbed the 3rd spot.
Driver of the day award goes to H.Jaakkola. His amazing pace and the margin of which he won the feature race with was astounding. He also set the fastest lap in the sprint race and the fastest lap in the feature. The Finnish driver is firmly in the running for the championship if he can replicate that calibre of driving in the next rounds.
Team of the day award goes to DISCoRe. A sprint race victory and 2nd place in the feature race confirms a fantastic first outing. They go into round 2 with a 18point lead over their nearest rivals spdoRacing.
