One more race in GPSeries and one more race in which Mullog showed his very high level when having to drive the FO8. This time wasn't an easy race, Mullog was running in what was, until this time, Schumi's track, although things were going to change. Since the first minute of Q1, the French driver proved to be one level above everyone, reaching Q3 and taking the Pole Position. Following were Manu and Samu about 1 second slower.
The race started and lot of nervousness was felt, nobody wanted the time spent training to be ruined in the first corner. Thus, the start was quite clean in comparison with what was foreseen, which showed the great behaviour of GPSeries' people. There was only one accident between Raikko and Tippmann, but the SLOT driver didn't hesitate for a second to wait for his crashed mate Raikko. That wasn't a good start for the SLOT team and this was just the beginning as Nando, in the last corner, didn't calculate well the distance to MrAlex and provoqued him to climb the wall, pity for him as he had to give up. From this moment begins Mullog's recital. Only the strategy of pit stops made him lose the lead, virtually letting it to Ariky. Everyone's eyes was on Schumi, we all knew he was not going to give up so easily. But some problems with his Internet connection made him retire. The race didn't cover any more crash until then. It was felt that, due to the the difference of laptimes between all drivers, lots of passing were going to happen, and that was the case. This mostly worried fastest drivers, but after finishing the race, everyone pointed out how good did blue flagged drivers. The final of the race was enclosing. Mullog, inflexible, was leading quite clearly, but the surprise came from the next positions. A spectacular Samu was running 2nd after a historical and impressive race. Remained to know who would be the third robber of the podium. 4 laps away to finish, 4 drivers were fighting for it : Ariky, Alvariño, Sturm and Chema. Unfortunately, with suspension problems, Sturm couldn't follow the pace. Alvariño, who experienced grip issues, was losing time lap after lap, but we all know what a great driver he is and how hard was it going to be to overtake him. In lap 47 was going to be decided the third position. Ariky came out of the pits just in front of Alvariño and Chema, who just passed Alvariño in the straight. Only 3 laps remaining and all 3 drivers were 20 meters from one another, but the struggle between Ariky and Alvariño was going to let Chema escape and reach his first podium in GPSeries. Ariky finished 4th and Alvariño fifth.
Ettore Messina said last week : "If the favourite always wins, then we wouldn't need to play the game". In a certain way, Samu and Chema showed how true was that sentence.
