The long bending turns, and the long high-speed straightaways of Kyoto GP Long Reversed are poised and ready to host the first round of Realistic NASCAR's World TBO Championship Series.
"We're hoping for around a 20 car field this Sunday barring some more entries." Event organizer Cameron Corns said Monday. "A few have contacted me letting me know that they will be unable to attend, and they will be eligible for provisionals, but I'll be really disappointed if we don't have a turn out nearing twenty cars for the Japanese 250."
The field of entries includes some pretty stiff competitors in the XRT (1% restriction) including two Tiger Express Motor Sports entries in Karl Raudsepp (#3) and Andris Pavars (#16), two My3id Gaming entries in Nikifor Dakovic (#2) and Joe Holmes (#36) along with the only spdoRacing entry Morgan Trollé in the #12, Pierre Peron in the #51 Team Vires entry, and Elton Chong in the #76 LAG team entry just to name a few.
The 5% restricted FXO has a few less entries than the XRT (7 currently verses the 11 in XRT), but this group of drivers should not be over looked, and it includes Antti Terho in the #83 Master Team Drivers Zero X-treme entry, Maris Znotins in the #99 STO Racing Team entry, and Ronalds Kronpušs (#96 of TheReality Racing Team) just to name a few there.
The unrestricted RB4 has racked up only two drivers. These drivers are Ergin Karakus (#62 Team RED entry), and Joni Säynätmäki (#69 rForce™ entry). Having a different car than the rest of the field they too will be entries to watch throughout the course of the afternoon come Sunday.
Pit stops will not be required, but it will be possible that some will need to pit for tires before the checkered flag waves. Tire wear will need to be kept to a minimum in order to win as the fuel will allow the drivers to make it without stopping to the finish regardless of which car they are driving.
"It's the most excited I've ever been about a race." Cameron Corns said, "I'm going to do everything within my power to make it the fairest, and most exciting race that it can be. With the level of competition as high as it is, I'm sure we'll see a blistering pace set this weekend, and that's exactly how it should be. Hopefully we'll be able to run caution free, and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't on a track this size, but you just never know about things like that. As a race director all I can do is sit back and call the race as best I can. Everything else is up to the competitors."
Qualifying for the Japanese 250 starts at 15:30 GMT this Sunday afternoon, and will last for 25 minutes. Directly following this the green flag will drop on the World TBO Championship Series at 16:05 and the 34 lap Japanese 250 will be underway.
