Realistic NASCAR has been preparing for the Kyoto 400 for the greater part of a month, and this Saturday (February 10) the green flag will fly over Kyoto 400 Qualifying Day. Out of the 44 drivers registered for the Realistic NASCAR Cup Series only 21 have obtained session credit thus far. Out of those 21 only 15 have already obtained the two credits required to participate. There is only one practice session remaining on Saturday, just before the Kyoto 400 qualifying day.

Sadly, following the IndyCar 250 it became apparent that we had made it too easy to participate in the series, so we required practice session attendance for the Kyoto 400. We hope to continue this moving forward with the Fern Bay 150 before taking a break to allow the Kyoto 250 of New Dimensions Racing to run without competition. We will only require one practice session credit in all future series events due to the lesser amount of time between series rounds.
Controversy has surrounded the series so far. Competitors bringing feuds into the series which asks for close quarters racing at high speeds was a recipe for disaster, and this is exactly what has transpired. The IndyCar 250 discussion thread had to be locked, and five drivers lost points following the IndyCar 250, including race winner #52 Tomas Koreny who is now second place in series points standings just five points behind #64 Martin Kapal. Third place in series points after winning the pole for the IndyCar 250 as well as running the fastest lap and finishing third is #69 Sami Huovinen.

Kyoto 400 practice sessions started off with a great number of drivers and a poor quality of racing, but as the sessions went on the quality of racing greatly improved. At the same time, the number of drivers at each session dropped. This was mostly because of the GT1 World Series and the 24 hour race which was held last weekend, but this was not the only factor.
We hope that most of the argument and controversy has dissolved following the long break since the IndyCar 250. If not we will likely be finding more penalties, and sadly we might even have to issue suspensions (a part of running an organization that I most hate). We will do what we must in order to make these oval events run smoothly, fairly, and effectively however.
