I see what you mean but I have already gone over my budget. I could wait and save some more, but what would you recommend spending more money on? Motherboard and CPU?

I'm having problems trying to find what thermal paste to use, as there are so many :S

Would I use the first one out of these? http://www.arcticsilver.com/instructions.htm

True, I think right now I'll skip the card and buy it another time when I have some more money

Hmm ok, I'll wait for any replies incase someone has any ideas. Thanks for the help

It all comes to £614 with OS and Soundcard too, suppose that isn't too bad.

Is this soundcard decent? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129740

They cost quite a bit more though don't they? Especially the i7's and the mobos to go with them. I wouldn't need anything that powerful anyway, let alone have the money.
Help - Building New PC

Hey,

My current PC is getting fairly out of date now and I have been looking into parts to build a new one. I haven't been keeping up to date with the latest and best components so I'm not sure what I've picked out is the best or not.

I already have a Graphics Card (Nvidia GTS640MB) so I'm fine on that, it's just basically everything else I need. My budget would be around £550ish but I could extend it to £600

Motherboard: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145748

Hard Drive: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146252

RAM: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/119190 x2

CPU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139971

Case + PSU: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177749

This all adds up to £538 and I haven't even added a sound card yet and OS (W7 64bit, likely Home Premium).

I don't play many games now, but that's down to the fact my PC won't run them well. So when I get this I'll be playing games like BC2, etc.

If any of you could help me in finding components to fit within my budget it would be appreciated

Thanks

Quote from kamkorPL :Game is pretty awesome. Sometimes the experience can get frustrating though, depends mostly on what people are in team or squad. Wanted to buy it, but it's too addicting so I decided not to.

And what will hiding in one place help you with? The guy who you killed will know where you are soon enough anyway. This assault class idiot is probably one of those that might destroy the objective and help you win the match.

For a start I spot everyone I see? Obviously I don't stay there ALL the time I move around. Very rarely do I get them come after me anyway...

Also, if he's firing away next to me then he isn't doing anything helpful then is he.

One thing I hate is when you're Sniping and you're quite well hidden, and some idiot with an assault class comes next to you and opens fire on anything that moves!

Quote from adamlfs :Yeah Sniper is sick, but doesn't work when the whole team plays em

Yeah true. I usually just sit there and spot everyone :P

Google comes up with loads of other people having the same issue, search through them and there's bound to be a fix.

The Popcorn tool Troy posted seems to have worked, the audio now shows as AC3. Just need to test it on the TV

Quote from bunder9999 :tried ffmpeg?

mkv is just a container, like avi is.

Nope, I cant even find a decent program to convert anything.

Quote from vari :Avidemux should do the trick

edit: Not sure if it can downmix multichannel Dolby Digital/DTS though if that's what you need.

I've installed it and it seems to have messed up my video codecs, avi movies are playing as visualisations on WMP and my MKV video wont open anymore =/

How exactly do I go about converting the audio using this? I'm not to sure on what to do :P
Converting MKV. Files

Hi,

My TV is able to play MKV files through a USB Hub, but it only supports these audio types: AC3, MP3, AAC, AAC HC. How do I convert the audio in the MKV file to one of these? I've tried various converters but they seems to just convert it all into audio and leave out the actual video. The current audio type in the file is DTS, which isn't supported by the TV, any help would be appreciated

Thanks.
