Thanks Daniel!

I restarted the router
Do i need to do something else? Install the dedicated server file from the lfs main site? or changing anythink else besides the windows firewall or the router?
I checked my firewalll again and a lfs is allowed in all ports and adresses ... is that ok or must i specifie the 6393 ports?

All the help is wellcome since i am new and have no experience on this
I just want to compete online with UFR since i cant find no servers for that available

Hi guys!
I purchased S2 today and i must say im a little dissapointed

From all the cars i tryed i loved the UFR ... driving it with the G27 and H-shifter is just amazing but ... i just cant find any servers for the UFR available ... only are servers that allow driving UFR and a lot of other cars at the same time in the same race ... this doesnt seem very atractive

Do you guys know any servers only for UFR?

I dont say that i just throw my money away buying S2 cause just driving the UFR in practice it whorts the money but when i was in demo i had great times just competing online in FBMW and now i cant do the same with UFR

For 5 euros i also purchased the Race 07 game and of course i also fall in love driving the mini and there are a lot of good races and racers just for minis online ... in consequence im playing much more Race 07 then LFS

I was expecting much more online competition for UFR online ... do i need to search special hidden servers to find them or this is the way it is?

Its rolling baby!

Just got him
I love it already

So ... here it goes my first impressions after 1 hour playing in BMW Formula practice

The wheel is much bigger than the older one i have (probably twice the size) ... i can say every thing is big ... i was not expecting such a big and strong hardware ... i mounted pretty easy and fast to my desk ... fits just perfect!

Downloaded windows 7 64 bits software from logitech site and installed ... configured the profile has Meanie posted (thanks Meanie!) and configured the wheel in FLS options and everithing works perfectly

Ok ... now ... practice
I started with sequential padlle shifters and automatic clunch and 55 ffb ... mama mia ... i just coulddnt play at all ... i crashed all the corners ... MAN! WHAT THE F IS THIS?

Disabled FFB to see how it will goes ... much much better! I played like 20 minutes and i was driving almost like normal

So lets put a little FFB on this ... i turn FFB on to 15 and i must say i did 1.14.78 after 15 minutes (my record with the old wheel is 1.14.58) ... i will stay with FFB in 15-20 for now cause i can feel every corner and every curb on the wheel (its just amazing) and it push pretty strong on the fast corners ... i just can feel it when im pushing to hard or doing it to slow (much easier to turn like this)

The paddles are much more harder (what makes it feel real) and they are longer so i can control the brakes much better ...

I just tryied the h-shifter for 5 minutes on a GTI car cause i couldnt make it work on BMW Formula (i think its normal cause real formula cars dont have h-shifter ... can you guys just confirm this ?) ... in GTI cars it works really good ... and using the clunch make it a completly different driving ... much more fun and real

So i must say that besides the first 2 minutes driving with the FFB on 55 it's starting pretty promissing ... I spend all my saves on this wheel so i will have to wait until next month to buy the S2 License so i can drive fast cars with the H-Shifter (im getting addicted to it and just play it for 5 minutes in a very slow car) ... until i buy it i guess will give dirt2 another chance with this wheel and h-shifter

Well ... i must say thank you guys for pushing me and encourage me to buy this wheel

Please just tell me if its normal h-shifter not working in BMW Formula car

Thanks again!

Quote from Ingolf :Congrats algumista!

Hope you get it soon. It will change your world of LFS (if you like driving cars).

Let us know what your first impressions are and then 2 months later.

Im hoping to get it tomorow ... they say they deliver in 24H but it comes from Spain ... so if not tomorow in monday for sure

And i hope you guys are wrong about me taking so long to get used to it ... i like difficult challenges but i dont want to wait 2 months to do the lap times i do now ... on other way if that happens it means the wheel is completed different from the one i have and it will have a lot of details that i must learn to control ... and that is also good

So ... whatever ... im reallly loooking to get my hands on it:eclipsee_

Quote from NumberTwo :doesnt have to be.

when i bought my wheel i went into heavy depression trying to get a good laptime

i already play with a wheel, a cheap one without ffb
i got no problems to get use to him
do you think the change will be so dramatic?

hummm ... i'm getting tempted to buy a logitech

it seems that maybe will not improve my times so much but will improvve the fun of driving ... and is also important

the problem now is that its so hard to choose without trying before buy

i can buy a 2nd hand momo for 40 euros but then will i feel the need to go for a H-shifter?
or maybe i buy the g27 and then i find out that the momo would be ok for my driving needs?

i dont have much money but i can get the money for the g27 ... but will it payout the investment?

i only play fls bmw ... i like speed and adrenalina
i tryed dirt2 ... i enjoyed but i get bored after some time (too much arcade stuff i guess)
the other cars in lfs like in gti racing are very slow and bored to me ...

so if a buy a new wheel will be mainly for lfs-bmw or other faster cars (after buying s2 license) ... do you think the H-shift will be appropriate for those kind of racings? It feels to me that a wheel with shift paddles on the wheel will be more realistic (like formula 1) ... am i wrong?

Quote from hp999 :My skills for example tend to increase slowly, so it took me about a year and a half to get into low 1:13's.

And no, you won't necessarily need a new wheel as long as the wheel you've got feels somewhat realistic. Keyword being 'somewhat', trollz.

This wheel is pretty cheap,, doesnt have FFB. I read a lot of reviews from real drivers and they say that G25 and G27 are not realistic. But the ones who never drive racing cars but play a lot o racing sim say they are.

I have fun with this wheel (maybe because i never tryed a logitech) and i think i will stay with it for now and just kkeep practicing ... if you took a 1 year andd a half to 1.13 i think im going ok cause a play for about 1 month and did 1.14.92 (improve more then 1 second in 1 week)

should i buy a new wheel?

Hi guys!

i started playing LFS about 1 month with a Thrusmaster Universal Challenge 5 in 1 ... my best lap in BMW-Blackwood is 1.14.92 and i see a lot of people easly making 1.13.00 or better ... can i improve my time laps if a get a better wheel or is it just that i have to keep practicing ... to me it seems impossible to do better that this ... i will buy a better whell if that improves my time laps

can you guys tell me your opinion please

Quote from E.Reiljans :New Sempron CPUs have same cores as Phenom II (and Athlon II).
And with UCC-capable board, they can become dualcores, too.

Yes ... thank you ... i realized that but ... in Phenom II x2 555 3.2ghz black edition i can unlock very easly the 4 hidden cores with the asus motherboad (i think this can only be donne on the black edition) ... after finnishing the overclock i will have a stable AMD PHENOM II X4 955 3.6ghz ... i read a lot in the internet about it in the last 2 days and its very easy and safe

i must say right now i dont really need a processor like this ... but in the future you never know ... i spend a little more money then i wanted but i get a good machine that i guess it will be ok to play fls with a good performance for many years ... and is allways nice to have a faster computer to run common software

Ha! Fixe!
I will stay with Phenom!
And i will go for the Saphire HD5670 512MMB DDR5

The budget is getting high (425 euros) but ... I'm really loving this game and i really want to have fun and win some races

How many fps do you think i will get with this?

. AMD Phenom II x2 555 3.2Ghz Black Edition
. ASUS M4A87TD/USB3 AMD870G SKAM3
. CORSAIR 2X2048MB DDR3 1333MHZ XMS3 CL9 NEW CLASSIC.
. SAMSUNG 500GB SATA II 16MB F3
. SAPPHIRE ATI HD5670 512MB DDR5 PCI-E
. ARCTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO REV.2
. Chassis mid-tower Nox Zen
. LCPOWER SUPERSILENT V2 550W LC6550 V2.2

I Increased the Ram to 4GB ... replace the seagate for the samsung F3 ... the motherboard doesnt have integrated v-card ... low noise psu and low noise coller (for overclock)

Tell me what you think

Quote from de Souza :If I was building this just for LFS (which you said you are), then I'd go for the one you posted first. I don't check those things for ages so I hope I'm not talking rubbish, but I'm positive the difference between the Phenom II and Sempron will be greater than the difference between the HD4250 and the GeForce 6600. For LFS, that is.

Or I'd slightly change it:
Going with an AMD Athlon II x2 would still be pretty fast and save you some euros. Probably not enough for a discrete video card but maybe enough for a motherboard with more dedicated video memory.

Ok ... now i'm also confused about the processor

if lfs is single cored and the AMD Phenom II x2 555 3.2Ghz Black Edition is dual-core this means only 1.6Ghz will be used in lfs ... right?
the sempron is single-core and will use 2.7Ghz on lfs ...

Is the technology in the phenom so good that it will perform much better then the semprom in lfs?

the only games i play is lfs and football manager 2011 ... i really dont want to play any other games ... i dont have time for it

all i want is to get 20fps in full starting grid and spend the less money possible ... will the semprom give me that?

Quote from Psysim :Correct me if I am wrong but LFS only uses 1 core, so 'at least' is irrelevent, you would be better of not worrying about dual or quad core, if its purely for lfs you are better off 3.2ghz than 1.6 ghz

2gig of ram that you currently have, with a good processor and reasonable v-card should be more than enough, that being said, your integrated v-card obviously isn't cutting the mustard. As Inouva said, a 128 should be enough, you don't need to rob the bank!

Until you get your new computer, it would be advised to go into your lfs options and 'down tune' your graphics. You have to choose between eye candy and fps.

Shift + O > Graphics >
then reduce 'car draw distance', ALL LOD (level of detail), turn off haze, sky, shadow, trees, flags, rubber, Full screen AA as 'None'.

Sometimes (strangly) high res textures pull better performance than compressed so thats worth a try. And finally, moving all the Mip bias sliders to the RIGHT may also help.

I can understand a LFS dedicated computer and the need for it, I have done it myself.

No individual component will 'fix' fps, as it is down to a number of parts.... cpu, ram and v-card are the componants that make a major difference.

Don't forget though, with LFS using one core, a dual 3ghz will probably deliver better performance than a quad 1.6

Ok ... so ... will this be ok for the 20fps full starting grid?

AMD Sempron Single-Core 140 AM3
Operating Frequency: 2.7GHz
L2 1 MB
Manufacturing Tech: 45 nm
Hyper Transports: 4000 MHz
Thermal Power: 45W

About the v-card i'm getting a little confused because i'm comparing the benchmarks ratings and i get this:

Nvidia 6200 - 57
Nvidia 6600 - 304
HD 4250 - 218

so ... the onboard hd4250 is between the 6200 and the 6800 ... shouldn't i givit it a try? or do you guys really think it will not do?

You are being a great help! Thank you!

So now i will have 2 graphic cards ... the HD 4250 integrated in the motherboard and the SAPPHIRE ATI HD5670 512MB DDR5

Can i take any advantage on that? Or it will be wiser to buy a cheaper motherboard without integrated video card?
alquimista

Ok!
So i can see i need to buy a graphic card
80 euros is the maximum price for my budget

I have been looking for the best price/quality and i found this two:
. SAPPHIRE ATI HD5670 512MB DDR5 - 78,90 euros
. Xpert Vision GT240 512MB GDDR3 - 73,50 euros

i dont now so much about graphic cards but the saphire is DDR5
which one do you think will perform better in fls?
will this be ok for the 20fps full grid?

Quote from MadCatX :Internet connection has nothing to do with your framerate...

Anyway, HD 4250 is going to be a bottleneck, but if you can live without AA/AF and resolutions higher than say 1280x1024, you should be pretty much OK.

Im not sure what bottleneck means (my english is not so good) ... but what do you think will be the cheapest graphic card so i can run AA/AF and higher resolutions with no problems and 20fps at full starting grid? is the AMD Phenom II x2 555 3.2Ghz ok?

I'm going to buy a new desktop specially for playing lfs ...
right now i'm using a toshiba nb100, 1.6Ghz, 2GB ram, intel gma950
so i get really low fps specially on starting grid with more then 2 cars (between 2 and 8 fps)

I dont play other games, just lfs
and i want to have at least 20 fps on a full starting grid

what does lfs demands more? cpu or graphic cards?
is it multithreaded?
is it going to be multithreaded?

i dont have much money so i'm thinking making this with 260 euros:
. AMD Phenom II x2 555 3.2Ghz Black Edition (i will do overclock if needed)
. Asus M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 AMD 880G (with Integrated ATI Radeon™ HD 4250 GPU)
. Kingston DDR3 2GB 1333Mhz
. Seagate 500GB Sata II 16MB (Single Plate)

do you think a can get 20fps on a full starting grid with this?

tell me your opinions please
thank you
