The reason why there are so many modern shooters is that most of the fps games used to be ww2- or sci-fi shooters, when COD 4 came out, it was like a breath of fresh air.

They are supposed to be using Frostbite 3 instead of 2, but all I see is a bit improved textures, bump maps and materials.
