Advantages of saving replays are that you might for example notice that
A. the other driver did it on purpose.
B. the other driver made a mistake and did not make it on purpose.
C. both or all drivers involved behaved 'subotimal' and should have known better.
D. you made a mistake yourself.
E. you made a really stupid mistake that made you look like you did it on purpose.
There have been quite some situations where I had a gut feeling that my opponent wanted to take me out, just to notice (while watching the replay) that I forced him into an unfortunate position where he had no other choice than to make contact.....
Replays can be great tools to improve your own racing skills
I've seen Mini Coopers (the real thing.....not today's 'Fat-Mini') racing on the Nürburgring and I can tell you that the most noticable sound (from the outside) was the gear whine.....and they were impressively loud
CU, Sebastian
PS: Don't get me wrong.....I actually like the new Mini (not as much as I loved the old one though ) and had a chance to test-drive the latest Cooper S last week.....this thing is almost scary.....175hp and FWD but still lots of traction.....I think it would be a cool car to take to the Nordschleife on the weekend, but I was searching for an everyday-car so I took a boring BMW
Aren't we all nice drivers? No one would ever do such things.....but then again.....it happens to every single one of us.....don't say it does not
Seriously I very, very rarely met an, so called, 'Alien' that goes around wrecking like described in the first post. And guys that do are usually well known for their 'racing-incompetence'.....
Just try to remember that everyone, and that of course even includes all those Aliens, 'F**KS UP' every now and then.
Will I shoot a backmarker on purpose? Nope.....never did, never will.....I give them a little hug (never trying to gain an advantage by this though) if they really block me bad, but forcing them off track or into a wall is not my cup of tea......but at the same time I have been into accidents that had an unfortunate outcome for my opponent and if watched from the outside must have looked as if I just wanted to shoot him.....but I did not.....I just made a mistake.....
Racing between experienced racers sometimes incorporates even more little nudges than beginner's racin' and still stays on the fair side.....and this is part of what I love about LFS.....a 10 lap thriller of door-to-door action in little hatchbacks, touching your opponent and being touched by your opponent in every second corner just to read the 'Lord, now THAT was fun!' chat messages after the race.....
Wrecking is BAD.....'Touchy'-Racing can be great, though
....but still I have to admitt he is right.....the best racing-memories I have are still from Demo or early S1 days when I had a whole evening of fun batteling it our with BiKES on Fern Bay Club with GTi and GT.....the racing was simply breathtaking
.....actually the DTM (which is more of a prototype series, that touring car) uses a combination of a carbon fibre monocoque and a seating position which is moved pretty far into the center of the car.....
The attached picture shows the seating position of Heinz-Harald Frentzen in his Audi.....
Okay, could everyone besides Speed Soro who really wants this feature please speak up?
.....by now I just saw two posts of two people who said that they don't see this as 'a terrible idea' or that they 'would not complain', but Speed Soro seems to be backed up by a large amount of drivers.....now where are they?
CU, Sebastian
PS: I am all for options, and if a 'AllowedController' Server-Option was added sometimes in the future I would not complain too.....but there are many options that I personally consider to be more important.....
Eh.....in my first post I gave you a hint (wasn't even very subtle) that I myself am no motorsports fan because of the 'possible danger of someone being killed', which was in itself enough to prove your point of 'nobody would watch motorsport if it wasn't dangerous' wrong.....
Instead of asking WHY I would still watch motorsports without danger being involved you then told me 'Deny it all you want, but every motorsports fan likes the danger aspect of it, and every racecar driver would be bored if it weren´t dangerous.'
Thats a bit like the following conversation:
You: 'All swans are white!'
Me: 'Sorry, but I am a black swan...'
You: 'You can deny it all you want, but you are white!'
illepall
Sorry.....didn't look to me as if you were interested in my point of view, as you simply denied it being possible.....
Danger is not necessarily needed to make any sport exciting.....Football, Tennis......even Snooker can be pretty thrilling to watch.....its the competition.....not any danger.....
To me there is also a huge difference between taking risks and accepting that something is dangerous.....a risk might very well be if Schumacher tries to make the decisive pass against Alonso in his final F1 race ever.....even if it happened in a really slow corner without ANY danger.....it would be an absolute thrill.....at least to me.....
.....or to give you an even more 'non-dangerous' example.....Steve Davis trying a risky long red which would open the chance to win his first final in years.....I would probably pee my pants.....
Of course there are people that like watching motorsports because it is dangerous.....just like there are people that slow down on the highway when they see that there was an accident.....but I am simply none of that kind.....and you tried to deny that this is possible.....
The track wasn't the interesting thing about this Pic when it was released.....it was the sexy rear of that FZ50 that drove us mad.....If I am not totally wrong that was its first public appearance.....
Really strange priorities I would say.....especially as the majority of the LFS-Racers would probably not really benefit from it.....
Edit - Not that I do not like the idea, but seriously.....the Sounds are very, very, VERY (!) important!
You've got to remember, that the engine sounds of GTR are one of its major selling points.....and GTR really was a major hit
@haisupeppu - Just stop it! Your posts are getting more and more embarrassing.....
I can only applaud to TeamCCUK for their work as it seems to be done in a responsible way, so people are not in danger to be banned when they are innocent.....perhaps I should chat with Vykos about this.....
