Hi.....

Advantages of saving replays are that you might for example notice that

A. the other driver did it on purpose.

B. the other driver made a mistake and did not make it on purpose.

C. both or all drivers involved behaved 'subotimal' and should have known better.

D. you made a mistake yourself.

E. you made a really stupid mistake that made you look like you did it on purpose.

There have been quite some situations where I had a gut feeling that my opponent wanted to take me out, just to notice (while watching the replay) that I forced him into an unfortunate position where he had no other choice than to make contact.....

Replays can be great tools to improve your own racing skills

Quote from AndRand :Ive never been in one of these but i always have an impression that such loud whine sound in recordings is due to mikes that are likely to present hi and midtone range (voice range) more than lowend sound. So i would have to hear coverage from some driver if these recorded sounds are the same as the one live.

I've seen Mini Coopers (the real thing.....not today's 'Fat-Mini') racing on the Nürburgring and I can tell you that the most noticable sound (from the outside) was the gear whine.....and they were impressively loud

CU, Sebastian

PS: Don't get me wrong.....I actually like the new Mini (not as much as I loved the old one though ) and had a chance to test-drive the latest Cooper S last week.....this thing is almost scary.....175hp and FWD but still lots of traction.....I think it would be a cool car to take to the Nordschleife on the weekend, but I was searching for an everyday-car so I took a boring BMW

What do you want to achieve by posting this?

The so called 'noobs' are the fresh blood that LFS urgently needs!

Take care of them instead of accusing them of being 'noobs'.....

How can you expect them to be anything else than 'noobs'?

.....well everybody is perfectly entitled to his own opinion.....you don't have to agree with me in any way

Mahlzeit.....

Aren't we all nice drivers? No one would ever do such things.....but then again.....it happens to every single one of us.....don't say it does not

Seriously I very, very rarely met an, so called, 'Alien' that goes around wrecking like described in the first post. And guys that do are usually well known for their 'racing-incompetence'.....

Just try to remember that everyone, and that of course even includes all those Aliens, 'F**KS UP' every now and then.

Will I shoot a backmarker on purpose? Nope.....never did, never will.....I give them a little hug (never trying to gain an advantage by this though) if they really block me bad, but forcing them off track or into a wall is not my cup of tea......but at the same time I have been into accidents that had an unfortunate outcome for my opponent and if watched from the outside must have looked as if I just wanted to shoot him.....but I did not.....I just made a mistake.....

Racing between experienced racers sometimes incorporates even more little nudges than beginner's racin' and still stays on the fair side.....and this is part of what I love about LFS.....a 10 lap thriller of door-to-door action in little hatchbacks, touching your opponent and being touched by your opponent in every second corner just to read the 'Lord, now THAT was fun!' chat messages after the race.....

Wrecking is BAD.....'Touchy'-Racing can be great, though

Quote from Scawen :Every one got a crash report, but no-one wrote down the crash address?

It's really a terrible pity to willingly throw away that fantastic opportunity that the windows crash report gives you. It has the information in there that shows me the exact line it crashed on.

But now, all we know is there is a crash there, that no-one can reproduce. If you had noted the crash address, I would be fixing it this minute.

Never checked it but maybe there is an entry in the Windows Event Viewer that contains the address?!

.....just an idea though

Well, I love Shift+F4 and sometimes accidentially press Alt+F4 when I want to press Shift+F4 so I am not sure that I want Alt+F4 to be enabled.....

26.300,- €?

I would get me a nice used Caterham with a spare set of slick tires for trackdays for that kind of money.....

The video looks incredibly real though.....the vibrations remind me of the Champ Car race last weekend.....

Quote :Fundamentals, lets get the fundamentals right before we crib about these little unrealistic things.

Ah....okay.....now you are making more sense

But I am pretty sure that the Devs are working on these fundamentals.....don't you?

.....and the addition of even more 'little unrealistic things' would still make the sim more unrealistic

Quote from danowat :Why?, because there are fundamental flaws, like the starting system, that IMO let the whole realism of the sim down.

Ah.....okay.....so we shouldn't aim for more realism as long as there are unrealistic features, or parts within the sim?

.....actually the DTM (which is more of a prototype series, that touring car) uses a combination of a carbon fibre monocoque and a seating position which is moved pretty far into the center of the car.....

Okay, could everyone besides Speed Soro who really wants this feature please speak up?

.....by now I just saw two posts of two people who said that they don't see this as 'a terrible idea' or that they 'would not complain', but Speed Soro seems to be backed up by a large amount of drivers.....now where are they?

It´s not everyone, just the vast vast majority.

.....again you are speaking for thousands of people that you do not even KNOW!

What makes you so sure about your point of view, except for the fact that you are not able to imagine anything else for yourself?

Quote from TagForce : Don´t get me wrong... Motorsports would be fun to watch if there is no danger... But not half as exciting as it is now to most ´fans´.

Try to speak for yourself.....not for 'most'.....

Quote from TagForce :Soccer and Football have the aspect of danger (not lethal, but serious bodily damage)...

[Clarkson type of voice]OH.....PEHLEASE[/Clarkson type of voice]

I was not talking about American Football but about Football!

The danger in this sport for serious injuries is much lower than for example in cycling or boxing, but which is more popular?

You seriously want to tell me that Football is so popular because of the danger of injuries being present? illepall

You do not offer any proof of your point.....just this boring 'Believe it - I am right'

Quote from TagForce :Snooker, darts and other ´bar sports´ have their charm. But the ´bar sports´ variety never has, and never will attract the amount of viewers that the more dangerous sports do.

I did not say they are popular.....I just said they can be exciting even though they are not dangerous.....

Quote from TagForce :Right.. Instead of simply disagreeing with my statement that motorracing without any danger to anybody involved whatsoever is like watching a marathon, why don't you come up with a reason why it is not so?

I can win any discussion by simply saying "You can either agree with me, or be wrong" and run away, or I can try to make the other person see things my way... It's like religion really, except I won't start killing you for not seeing things my way (no offense to any christians, muslims, hindus, judeans, scientologists, or any other religious people out there).

It's called discussing... Which is what we do here, because these are called discussion forums.

Eh.....in my first post I gave you a hint (wasn't even very subtle) that I myself am no motorsports fan because of the 'possible danger of someone being killed', which was in itself enough to prove your point of 'nobody would watch motorsport if it wasn't dangerous' wrong.....

Instead of asking WHY I would still watch motorsports without danger being involved you then told me 'Deny it all you want, but every motorsports fan likes the danger aspect of it, and every racecar driver would be bored if it weren´t dangerous.'

Thats a bit like the following conversation:
You: 'All swans are white!'
Me: 'Sorry, but I am a black swan...'
You: 'You can deny it all you want, but you are white!'

illepall

Sorry.....didn't look to me as if you were interested in my point of view, as you simply denied it being possible.....

Danger is not necessarily needed to make any sport exciting.....Football, Tennis......even Snooker can be pretty thrilling to watch.....its the competition.....not any danger.....

To me there is also a huge difference between taking risks and accepting that something is dangerous.....a risk might very well be if Schumacher tries to make the decisive pass against Alonso in his final F1 race ever.....even if it happened in a really slow corner without ANY danger.....it would be an absolute thrill.....at least to me.....

.....or to give you an even more 'non-dangerous' example.....Steve Davis trying a risky long red which would open the chance to win his first final in years.....I would probably pee my pants.....

Of course there are people that like watching motorsports because it is dangerous.....just like there are people that slow down on the highway when they see that there was an accident.....but I am simply none of that kind.....and you tried to deny that this is possible.....

Because without danger that is exactly what racing becomes.

Deny it all you want, but every motorsports fan likes the danger aspect of it, and every racecar driver would be bored if it weren´t dangerous.

Ah.....sorry.....didn't know you were the one speaking for all motorsport fans and racecar drivers.....

Seriously.....what you say is pure bullshit!

Racing without danger becomes a marathon? Yeah.....right.....

Quote from RSchumacher :I don't think the sounds is the most important to be updatet at the moment.
I want the things with the wings, which Biggie said in another thread (you know, 0,25° or something to change).

Really strange priorities I would say.....especially as the majority of the LFS-Racers would probably not really benefit from it.....

Edit - Not that I do not like the idea, but seriously.....the Sounds are very, very, VERY (!) important!
You've got to remember, that the engine sounds of GTR are one of its major selling points.....and GTR really was a major hit
