First for the records: I want the cars to be closer together in competition (I am avoiding the word SPEED on purpose).....I just do not want to be able to predict which car will win any championship.....
@Hoellsen - You are right in saying that weight penalties are not the way to take when trying to bring the cars closer together in competition, but at the same time I think it would not do any harm to add this OPTION now.
It might come in Handy for leagues and server admins and as long as it is an option I do not see a real problem.....
Fortunately the driver, it was Peter Dumbreck, was not hurt.....even Mark Webber who flipped the CLR twice before the race was not hurt, if I remember correctly.....but Mercedes was
I have seen (and heard) those beautiful Group C cars and the LMPs of the LMES last year at the Nürburgring and have to say.....I always loved the Group C cars for their looks and performance.....now I also love them for their sound.....just wonderful race cars.....even better than the LMPs in my opinion.....
The most beauftiful sound a race car can make? To me the Porsche 956/962.....simply amazing!
.....the number of german native speakers who could not write a propper 2-line Mail in german without making numerous mistakes is rising day by day.....and then these guys wonder why they can not find a job illepall
Usually that would be true but as Simbin did not develop the engine themselves they will take no pride in it.....if they feel the engine is not sufficient, swapping it would not be like giving away a baby.....
On the other hand the consideration alone would express quite some unhappiness of SimBin with ISI and/or their engine.....SimBin knows the ISI-Engine and is by far the best developer when it comes to exploiting it to the limit.....swapping the engine would cost lots of money and time as they would not only have to buy the engine, but also take their time to get used to it.....
But I have to admitt.....as an owner of GTR, GTL and rFactor.....I can fully understand the wish to swap the engine.....
.....amazing stuff.....really.....especially when you watch these guys starting bump-drafting like mad.....somehow I am not sure if I had the nuts to do something like that in real life
About the FXR being competitiv in endurance racing.....take a look at the results of the Masters of Endurance.
The FXR is NOT gentle with its tyres.....we almost always had to pit due to tyre wear and only once due to fuel consumption. And whoever said it is near impossible to spin the FXR has never driven it fast enough over long enough stints.....trust me
Talking about physics and facts might be careless.....even though we tend to forget this - physics is a natural science and thus never can be absolutely accurate.
We must not forget, that we use models to describe reality as close as possible.....that does NOT mean these models match reality
I also often saw people using 'laws' developed for physics of rigid bodies when talking about tyres.....seems 'a little' strange to me
This whole topic is highly interesting and I think many of the things said might be as much 'on spot' as possible
I highly enjoyed the read about tyre wall heights.....no one should ever stop learning.....THANKS
.....and I think this thread does not mention Moby who races Formula Renault, GPunkt who is the German Rally Cross Champion and Mark Striper who got his cockpit in a Porsche for a 2006 endurance championship by racing GTR (but he also races LFS).....
There seem to be quite a few at least semi-professional race drivers
