I rarely agree with anything a Kingsbury posts, but I've always subscribed to the view that if you've got any overlap on the car ahead, it's up to that guy not to run over you. But that's probably because I'm an American and I grew up watching NASCAR/ovals in general, where that's the standard operating procedure. (Also, you know, logic. It's racing—you go for any gap you can get to.)

Anyway, those fps numbers I quoted were offline and while I wasn't getting any freezing I'm definitely not getting the fps I want to get with the graphics I want to run. So what's a good mid-to-high-end GPU these days under $300 USD?

Ok, deleted all mod apps. Still pegged at 30fps (roughly) when running your settings at 1080p.

Just did some more testing (Lotus Evora GTC + Mugello). Framerate seemed pegged at 30fps except in the last sector of the track, where it often dipped to about 20fps. Again, this is with Boris's settings and all apps off (except render stats).

edit: Tried 720p output and could peg it at 54fps except in the last sector where it sometimes dipped below 50fps.

I only use OV1 and the F1 HUD. Turned them both off and it didn't seem to make much difference.

Tried Boris's settings and the difference wasn't as big as I thought it'd be (with one car on track, anyway), but it was still a slideshow vs. what I had before (when it wasn't stuttering).

Boris, I hadn't been using a framerate limiter, but I set it to 60 fps and it didn't seem to make any difference.

So I'm currently running a Core i5 2500K processor and an AMD HD 6950 video card. In AC, I'm getting occasional brief freezes and framerate fluctuations, even on original Kunos tracks and cars. I'm running with 2X AF/AA, very high detail, low shadow res, normal mirror res, normal smoke, and effects turned off.

So I think it's time for an upgrade.

Anyone got any tips as to which upgrade would offer the most bang for the buck? (I'm assuming GPU, but you never know.) I'd like to keep my overall upgrade budget under US $300.

Both my previous and current cars. Yay!

Could be the Celia GT-Four, too. Who knows?

It's pretty clear Rosberg was at fault, especially given it was with his teammate. But Lewis isn't exactly blameless, either. They both could have given more room on lap 2.

I'd stick with a known quantity if you're dead set on equality, though. Or just go with a single car choice.

Had an interesting race last night on a server that pitted the X-Bow against the E30 DTM.

Great race. I think this is my favorite F1 season in years.

PS - I know what the problem is, as seen it before, so need to determin how many pit boxes he has done for Croft. I know limit at Donny was 19, and Brands is 24, but thought Croft would be safe when I set server to 19, and I know Silverstone is fine....guess not....Sorry guys, that was so much fun and great racing

The tires just feel all kinds of wrong. Or at least the ones Fordie provided do. When you're cornering hard, they go from all grip to no grip in a split second, like they fell over on their side.

Lotterer is every bit as qualified, if not as experienced in F1 machinery. I'm a big Koba fan, and I'm sad to see him get the boot again, but Lotterer could do well (or as well as a Caterham can do).
