Quite a few people drive it in: cargame.nl S2

I think its great. At first I could not handle the rear wheel drives at all but after a fair bit of practice they are very rewarding. LX4/6, FZ5 and the RAC are all awesome once you get the hang of them.

In fact it was a driver from IHR named NS who told me exactly that when I was moving up from the FXO. He said the RWDs are harder to driver but much more rewarding, and he was totally right

The main thing is throttle control I would say. You can't floor it out of the corner or you will oversteer and destroy the tyres very quickly. It feels like you are slow in the corners compared to the FWDs but you have more power going down. And once you are in a straight line you feel the power!

I thought I would post my experience with LFS since I have not had it that long. This might be a good insight for everyone.

I bought S2 about 12 months ago. I had a G25 and was looking for games that had realistic clutch implementation. After much searching and forum reading I got pointed towards Live For Speed and downloaded the demo. After only a few laps around Blackwood I was amazed at how realistic it felt compared to games like GTR2.

I bought it more or lease straight away and have found it one of the most rewarding and entertaining SIMs I have ever played. I have a pretty good setup with a room dedicated to it, 27" LCD and a pair of 8" Studio Monitors for sound.

I have made a habit of getting friends and family to take the 'Blackwood Challenge' - 10 laps around Blackwood in the FBM and we record their best time on the wall. Much like the Top Gear Hotlap. This has been a hilarious and addictive experience for all involved. Some of my mates' wives and girlfriends are surprisingly fast!

As for my own online racing experience, admittedly there are not as many active drivers as I would like. Perhaps it is just because I am in the Australian Time Zone but I find it almost impossible to find an open wheel server apart from FBM/Blackwood GP. As a big Formula 1 fan I am amazed that there are no F1 servers, full to the brim. Maybe its because the cars are just too hard to drive. Fox Junkies seemed popular when I joined but I rarely see any cars in there now.

I believe the league racing experience is different but I am yet to sign up with any. They seem like quite closed communities so it is a little intimidating to just walk in.

That said though I am still really impressed with the game and have fun racing online fairly regularly. I see people complaining about the lack of new content but I really don't see what that has to do with anything. The game is about realistic racing with real people so it doesn't matter what cars you drive or what tracks you drive on. How does a new track or car affect your ability yo have a good, close race with someone of equal ability? Do you think F1 drivers complain about the lack of new tracks?

There is a very broad range of cars as well. They already have most types covered eg, fwd 4s, awd 4s, rwd 6s, rwd 8s, open wheelers etc. What is the sirocco supposed to add apart from eye candy?

If LFS has a weakness I would say it is a lack of marketing effort. This is an incredible simulator, with a realistic F1 car no less, and I only found out about it after a long time searching and reading on forums. For me as a professional marketer and sales person I think Scawen could do a lot more in this regard.

I believe there is a video of Nick Heifeld training with it on YouTube isn't there? Why isn't that plastered all over the site? And the tyre and suspension physics are said to be the best there is. Why aren't they promoting the strengths of this great product rather than letting people find out for themselves...

Anyway those are just my thoughts. The game certainly isn't dead because people like me are still buying it. 3 or 4 of my mates are going to buy it now after going through the hotlap experience. I think the developers just need someone dedicated to promoting the game.

Quote from TAYLOR-MANIA :Ok, having re-read my previous post now i see that I should have made it clearer i was talking about the Obutto, as you did mention the Hyperdrive as well. But anyway i'll just say that apart from the Hypderflight having armrests, i'd say the Obutto trumps it in every other way, and costs less.

As for the weight of the Obutto, from the website itself:
"shipping weight: 52kg actual weight"

No worries dude I meant the Obutto. Wow ok that is heavy. Not quite sure how and where to get it delivered

How much would you say it weighs in the box?

That's right, SV should have checked his mirrors.

I get the feeling from the Fuel comments, the team comments, and Vettel's reaction that the team had told Mark to let him pass.

Why else would they react the way they did. The team orders are alive and well. Martin Brundle aludes to it all the time actually. He said the same thing about barichello taking hulkenburg.

They told the guy leading the championship, with 3 consecutive poles, 2 consecutive wins, and leading the race...to pull over.

And they expected him to pull over. Now he's pissed, Vettel is pissed, and the team is pissed.

RBR is in self destruct mode and mclaren are laughing all the way to the championship. Funny since they are the ones who went through the same thing two years ago. RBR should read a history book.

This is a very clear cut case in my opinion. It is Alguesuari/Chandok all over again.

The incar view from Vettel at 1:22 clearly shows that he moved to the right too early:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiIc-A--iNU

He thought he was all the way past and he didn't check his mirrors. It was a noob, rookie mistake, and as punishment he got hugged by the team.

Quote from Intrepid :

Vettel's gestures are incomprehensible. To literally say to millions of viewers through hand gestures "Webber is a dick head" is indefensible.

Maybe after this race he will improve.

How will Vettel improve when the entire senior management team tells him that is was Webber's fault!?

Red Bull are teaching Vettel that his bad behaviour is ok and they are telling Mark that he is nothing in their eyes compared to the golden boy.

This is all very bad for Mark. His only chance to win the championship now is to completely dominate Vettel from start to finish. If Vettel is anywhere near him the team will make him pull over.

He'll probably be out of the team next year and won't get another competitive drive.

Mark has to win now. On the bright side he has nothing to lose!

Your work is much appreciated Lynce. It is the time and effort from people like you who make LFS what it is.

Quote from TAYLOR-MANIA :http://www.hyperdrive.com.au/

The Hyperflight (with addons) costs about £650 including delivery. That's what i was quoted, but that's an approximate price for a release date of April-May.

I'm either gonna buy that or the Obutto, i think it'll be the latter.

I was looking at the HyperDrive as well, but that Obutto looks good too.

Let me know if you get it and how it is!

ok so yes i fill the grid, pause with cars in shot and it goes from 100+ down to about 30.

So I take the settings on post 1 are simply too much for my GTS 250?

I'm running the settings on the first post with the following:

Intel E8400
4GB PC2-6400
Geforce GTS 250 (196.21 Drivers) + OnBoard Geforce 9300 in Hybrid SLI
1680 x 1080 @ 60hz

My LFS looks great but when I get a full grid the frames drop to 25 and its not really playable.

I would have thought this system is more than capable. Is there one particular setting from page 1 that would be eating the frames?

Help! Destroying my tyres!

Attached setup is the one I have been using for the FXO on Iron Horse Racing.

It suits my driving style for the most part but on the longer tracks (such as aston and fern bay variants) my front tyres are barely lasting 2 laps.

It seems to slide a lot in faster corners as well which obvously isn't good.

My question is: is the problem the setup or my driving style?

If anyone can get 5 laps out of this without the tyres going red on fern bay black then i'll know its me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Does anyone have any experience with the Sim Racer 4000?

http://www.myhomesimulator.com ... llery/sim_racer_4000.html

I am considering either this or 'The Works' from Gamers Cockpit:

http://www.gamerscockpit.com.au/

My question is how much does the vibrating seat of the 4000 add to the experience?

I have a fairly good ergonomic setup already and I think perhaps a racing seat alone won't be that much of an upgrade.

Ahh you're right, thanks!

With the view, I was actually thinking of the open wheelers where of course you are in the middle and there is no windscreen but I see your point about the in car view.

I just can't stand having two wheels in front of me as you say.

Cheers!
Side mirrors for any view

Forgive me if this can be done as I am new but the major improvement I feel that is needed is to have side mirrors on any camera angle.

I like my view to be of the car bonnet, which if you have a G25 wheel or equivilant would be the most realistic view. The problem is that if you move the camera forward like this you lose the side mirrors.
