New Driver Announced at Concept Racing

Concept Racing is proud to announce a truly Great Driver to its line up.

Stuart Baker, aka Bean0 has agreed terms and will be driving for the boys in Green and White. Please join us in welcoming CR|S.Baker to our line up.

S.Baker (username Bean0) is a fast racer of known pedigree. Stuart is a STCC Racer and can make the claim of being the first ever CTRA Titanium license holder. The following extract is taken from the CTRA 2007 Awards

"Stu successfully rose through the CTRA system faster than anyone else and was first to achieve the target CTRA licence status known to all as 'Titanium'. Stu's rise was positively ballistic, and confirmed him as one of the most exceptional and dedicated drivers to be involved in this, the public Live For Speed multiplayer racing community"
CTRA 2007 Awards

Quote from LordBlaster :i don´t want so sound arrogant, but this happend a lot to me...

i do a mid-race join and try to set up a good lap for the next
race. i catch some slower drivers, they see me, pull over and
let me pass them...

but first i look at the position of the driver ahead and if he´s
fighting for the win or the podium i stay way behind him,
independent from his speed. some drivers get nervous if you
are big in the their rearview mirror, so i try to avoid this.

and when you stay behind, leave a larger gab, you can easily drive
a fast lap, next lap

Like most things in life, there are always more than one option

I tend to do the same LB, sometimes the guy infront wants you to go past and sometimes although you are much quicker you just slow down and not interfere with his race.

Quote from The Moose :I haven't seen a blue flag spammer in CTRA since i started playing again.
Obviously the message is getting through at last

how many time have you actually had someone behind you close enough to lap you? no wonder you ain't seen the messeges

Seriously thou....I have not seen any Blug Flag Spammers since leaving Race 1 back before the X system was launched...

or is it that I just don't go on the non-CTRA server where all the Blug Flag Spammers seem to drive

Congratulations Teamie

I won't say anything about what I think about you, everyone has said it already... and besides, if your head gets any bigger, those antlers will start causing drag rather than the desire mid corner downforce

Quote from CR1972 :

My questions is, at what stage should I be seriously thinking about a team, and what are the benefits? I dont want to be an embarrasement to a team, or myself, by jumping in too soon

I await your thoughts

If you are thinking like this ie, you don't know what the benefits are and you are not feeling like you are missing out on them, then there is no need too try and join a team at this stage

There is nothing in LFS that says you must be in a team, and there is nothing to say that you don't need to be in a team.

So people are happy playing on their own and some are happier playing in groups.... at the end of the day its completely personal preference.

IF you did want to join a team, then you have to look at whether or not you want to try and enter a team with little or no experience or it is to practice and practice and try going to another team.

But at the end of the day, it is about the people that are in the team that makes it enjoyable.

Its the same as being in a server where it is enjoyable to drive.... thats more enjoyable than driving around in a bunch of skins with people you don't know or can not relate too or have a social bonding just because you like the idea of being in a team.

Basically its horses for courses and there is no real right or wrong answer....... expect for stay away from drift and cruise teams

Quote from LordBlaster :i´m interested in taking part on this one

is there any more information availabe, like day/time, length,
tracks etc?

Its all in the 'concept' stage at the mo (bad pun i know :razz

The discussion thread is here to see if last seasons format worked and whether things need to be changed or updated, or continue in the same manner.

In a nut shell, it is likely to be on Thursday Evenings about 20.00 GMT

Qualiy and Racing totally about an hour (maybe 3 x 15 minute races or 2 x 25 or 1 x 60) that sort of thing as we did last season.

Tracks used last season were

FE2R
SO1
AS1R
FE1
SO4R
AS2R
SO5

Also we might need some addition help runnning the series and looking after the races, admin, results, media etc etc....... any takers?

Regards and thanks for the interest,

Dru.

Now what would be cool would be if the cars were not in the default skins.

How about loading up skins from the top 5 CTRA Teams

Real quick answer,

If you are driving in car and you use the look left or right button (to turn the full 90 degrees and you see half of your opponents car that is approximately over lap.

Of course this only counts if the guy is on the inside of the corner, if he is on the outside it's likely that you will be quicker around the corner, just make sure you leave enoough room for the pair of you to drive 2 wide.

Quote from niels1 :Ooooops got that wrong.

Well if its for a position. Well I would say that the GTR has to overtake. But with the caution mention below. When I am driven GT2 I do let the GTR past me. There normaly way to quick and you cant have a battle with them due to the much higher speed.

I indeed gave them room, no need to get ran of track while there 2 different classes. But if people are holding there position and defending there line they are not wrong either. So still no answer.

I say do it poilte and give the GTR the room to overtake.

Niels is an excellent example of how a GT1 Driver should be with the GT2 cars

My only critism is with some GT1 cars (which ultimately are passing becuase they joined late or have been off the road - rather than lapping) is that they dive past you in the braking zone at the end of the straight and then come to an almost stand still as ultimately on most mid to speed corners the GT2's have the edge on cornering speed
