Stint 1:
Mike Waltz
Started P12, up to P9 after 1 lap.
A few laps in I hit the chat button without thinking. FDB Racing is proud to be the first team to commit a penalty in MoE history. Drive-Thru, didn't lose a spot.
After this I blew tires three times, due to lack of testing. I'm used to LRF where you change tires when you get fuel. I tried R3 instead of R2 but still blew those up too. Finally figured out that 10-12 laps is the max between stops.
Got rear ended at one point. I unlapped myself and the guy tried to pass me back, outbraked himself into the very tight double-apex left hander before the S/F straight. Minor damage, no problem.
Made 39 laps and handed the car over to Felipe Catalan in P12. Good luck Felipe!
Didn't get to test it, so the first time was in the race. Worked perfectly.
Swaps were very difficult in NR2003 so I'm happy to see this feature working so smoothly.
Could we get one of the qualifying sessions moved to a North-America-friendly time slot or to a weekend day? 2100 CET Monday and Friday is right in the middle of my work day. For Mon. or Fri. I would need it about 6 hours later. For a weekend the 2100 CET time is fine.
I've just never cared for any of the ISI/Simbin stuff. Graphics look funny, sounds not quite right, odd FFB, weird bobbing motions, etc. I bought F1 2002, F1C, played the GTR mod and the GTR and GTL demos. All seems like the same game. Just can't get into it. I'll probably keep racing LFS and wait for the next big thing from Kaemmer (Papyrus founder)
I have run 6 and 12 hour events with the Trans Am and GTP mods for NR2003. It was definitely the high point of my sim racing career. 1st in class in Camel Lights at the 12 Hours of Spa with Don Shields. We had much bigger (40 car) fields but even 15 cars should be fun. If anyone is interested in forming a team with me, send a PM.
Dirt Oval
Could be sprint cars / midgets / late model or we could just run with the rallycross cars.
Would be a real easy track to design. Maybe 1/4 mile, slight banking. Great close racing and sideways fun.
All I can find is a isplay#F9_F10_F11_F12" target="_blank">reference in the Wiki, which seems to be out of date as it does not correspond to what I see when I hit F9.
What does each part of the display mean?
This is a screen shot of the right rear tire F9 display.
From the Wiki article it's clear that the bars on top are inner/middle/outer (I/M/O) vertical tire loads.
The numbers below the bars are I/M/O tread surface temps.
Below this there are three sections which change color. These don't change size like the Wiki says. Do these indicate tire wear or what? What colors correspond to what degree of wear (or whatever the heck is being measured)?
Then we have two colored sections that seem to indicate some properties of the inner and outer sidewalls? Again, what properties, and what colors correspond to which values (high or low)?
Finally there are two solid areas, again changing in color, which appear to tell us about something inside the tire. Could it be air temperature or pressure? Why are there two areas inside? And again, which colors correspond to which values (high or low).
