Quote from Clownpaint :Yeah, I was thinking that when I wrote it, I don't really know enough about drifting to judge it. I do find it reasonably easy to do a generic drift and slide around a corner, but I'm not consistent with it, I put that down to lack of practice. I don't know what the pro's do, maybe a few spins then drift or something.

In essence what a good pro drifter does, is go around an entire track, never moving in a straight line, you could say keeping the one drift going the whole way around the track. Now no-one can ever say that that doesn't take skill surely?

richy, really man, come on, you got your replies to the question, and now your getting upset about a bit of banter? Two things dude:

1.) It's a bit of banter, people having a laugh. Just laugh with them! Don't take it so bloody personally!
2.) It's the internet! It's not as if these people are knocking on your front door and arguing with you in the street now is it?

So come on man, lighten up, enjoy the forum, accept a bit of fun messing about, and ya never know, you may even start to dish out your own friendly abuse!

Very good post TRISTANCLIFFE. I agree with you to a certain extent, about the minority of people who say they can "drift" because they slide around a few corners before hopelessly losing control of the car, then blame it on the tyre wear, which they "didn't get in Need For Speed: Underground", but the fact is, tyre wear happens! You have to live with it! Now I am by no means a skilled drifter (in LFS, I absolutely suck in real life), but I do think I at least know the basics of it, and appreciate those who are good.

Also, I believe if someone drifts a track properly, there is NO WAY they can get it round a track faster than someone in the same type of car racing it.

Thanks for that StanleyCarter, I have registered on that site and will check it out in more detail!

And yes, i suppose you're right, there is a lot of immature people who have watched too much Initial D, and think they are Ken Nomura, who post in topics who are asking to be flamed!!

Another quick thing, I bloody hate "txt spk" and "1337 speak". For Christ's sake, you're given a full QWERTY keyboard for a feckin' reason!!

There has been some great replies on this topic, so I must simply add my two cents.

In LFS I would call myself more of a drifter than a racer, but in absolutely no circumstance would I go to a racing server and start drifting, its just rude in my opinion. However, circumstances will change if there are say, only a few on the server, and they agree to let you drift. But mainly, I would only drift on drift servers, and I would race on race servers.

I'm interested in joining this, but it says your a Demo Racer, how can you operate a proper LFS drift team if you're using the demo version?

Cheers BALL BEARING TURBO, well, I was raised on the stuff!

And don't get me wrong lad, I understood your humour in your post, I'm Irish remember lol. But I just see a lot on this forum people who are posting in drifting topics who are solely posting to piss off drifters. You at least said you respect the sport!

I have had the pleasure of attending some real life drift events over the past year or so, and have enjoyed watching the amateurs drift more than watching Formula 1, to be honest.

How about getting a drift team started out, and you can be taught BALL BEARING TURBO :P.

I really don't understand why people are so hostile towards drifting anyway. It takes just as much skill as any other type of motor racing, it seems that just because its not shown every day on ESPN/Sky Sports/Eurosport/Any sports TV channel that its not a "real sport".

I say to those people, if you don't like it, at least give a reason for critisising it, instead of posting rubbish such as "How about NOT having drifting events."

Anyway, yes, I myself would also love to see about getting a kind of "beginner" drifting event organised, as I have only been playing LFS for a short while!
