Pit stops should be exiting...

Quote :Pit stop will involve a change of car: when the battery runs out, the driver will make a pit stop, then will run 100 metres to climb into a recharged car

Quote from Cornys :NASCAR announced on Monday that it was changing the direction of the sport (behind the scenes mostly). Many of these changes I see being in a very positive direction, but I'm rather open minded, so I'm sure many others will disagree. . These are planned to be in place by the 2015 Daytona 500

Marussia to use Ferrari engines from 2014.

Quote from formula1.com :Marussia have announced a new technical partnership with Ferrari that will see their cars powered by the Italian firm’s engines from next season. The team have used Cosworth engines since they joined the grid in 2010.

As a Ferrari customer team, under the new 2014 regulations Marussia will be supplied with the Scuderia’s new 1.6-litre, V6 engine, plus their Energy Recovery System, full transmission and all related ancillary systems.

“The importance of this development to our team cannot be overstated,” said Marussia CEO Andy Webb. “Not only will we benefit from a customer supply from the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One’s history, but this also provides further confirmation, if it were needed, of our commitment to the sport and determination to maintain our progression towards our long-term ambitions.

“The new powertrain regulations being introduced next year represent the most substantial engine development within the sport since the introduction of the V8 formula and are all the more significant for the increased contribution of the Energy Recovery System. We look forward to working with Scuderia Ferrari during this exciting new era of Formula One competition.”

Marussia’s announcement means 2014 is expected to feature three Ferrari-powered teams (the other customer squad being Sauber), while 2013 will be Cosworth’s last season as an F1 engine supplier for the foreseeable future.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cosworth, with whom we have partnered since our debut season in 2010,” added Webb. “We have shared an important part of our team’s journey together and Cosworth have been an integral part of our clear progression. We will continue to work together during the latter half of the season to ensure we all achieve our combined objectives before Cosworth leave the sport.”

Marussia are currently 10th in the constructors’ standings, with Jules Bianchi’s 13th place in Malaysia their best 2013 result to date.

Quote from grand-am.com :Steering - and peering - into the future of DTM-style touring car competition in North America, GRAND-AM founder Jim France and GRAND-AM President/CEO Ed Bennett joined executives from the European DTM series and the Japanese Super GT series over the weekend at the DTM event at the Norisring in Nuremburg, Germany.

Collectively, the executives form a steering committee aimed at developing the technical specifications for the future of touring car racing on three continents. During the weekend, the committee announced that all three series - DTM, Super GT and the North American series - will have identical specifications beginning in 2017.

In March, GRAND-AM Road Racing and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced an agreement with Internationale Tourenwagen-Rennen (ITR e.V.), which administers DTM racing, to create a North American version of the popular German touring car series. The North American series is targeted to launch in 2015 or 2016.

In this type of racing platform, prerequisites are competitive grids and related manufacturer marketing support; this platform is designed for manufacturers to showcase their brand to fans and potential customers.

The new North American series is expected to often run in conjunction with United SportsCar Racing events. In fact, the next committee meeting will be held at the inaugural United SportsCar event, the 2014 Rolex 24 At Daytona in January.

"In the new United SportsCar Racing series, we have some great tracks like Daytona and Sebring," Bennett said. "We have planned to have a rotation between our three regions. The next [committee] meeting will be held in the USA at the end of January in Daytona."

A committee meeting also is planned for the summer of 2014 at the 1,000-kilometer Super GT race at Japan's Suzuka circuit.

"This is a manufacturer-based platform," Bennett emphasized, "and we hope to receive manufacturer commitments to ensure a proper field of cars - and the related marketing support to make the series a reality. Along those lines, we held our initial presentation with the Japanese manufacturers Nissan, Toyota and Honda at Norisring over the weekend.

"This is an exciting concept, but there is much more work remaining on the horizon."

Quote from Rappa Z :It's not that exciting. They literally just line up on the grid for a few seconds, then the starter waved the yellow flags and everyone pulled away except Newgarden.

No, they said that it was waved off before they started.

Quote from IsaacPrice :Webber doesn't really have significantly worse luck than Vettel. Webber maybe has worse luck with pitstops, but then everyone forgets how many times Vettel has had car failures compared to Webber in the last 3-4 years. Vettel has had some issues in pitstops, Silverstone 2011 springs to mind.

Look at how many times Webber has had KERS failure VS how many times Vettel has had KERS failure.
