Quote from MINIz guy :You don't HAVE to press F1 everytime you start your computer...in the BIOS of your Asus mobo, it should have a option to "Press F1 if error" - Enabled or Diabled. Check it to disabled....at least that's what I did on my P5W when I switched to water cooling....

thanks man

Quote from garph :Buy some zip ties for the cables, you can also get really good cable management packs as well which would sort all that out. You could also try routing some cables behind/underneath the motherboard, that’s what I have done with some audio and USB cables.

If you've feeling braver and you have the space in between the side panel and motherboard mounting plate you could cut holes for more cable routing, mainly the power cables.

Could also try vibration damping products as well to try and cut some of the noise as well as quieter fans and finally a file would sort out the sharpe edges of the case.

i have another panel on the side of my case for cables, i've put a few, but i don't want to take the motherboard out again for cables underneath the motherbaord....maybe i will do that when i get my P182

Quote from tristancliffe :If I recall correctly, superglue was originally developed for just this reason - sticking skin together! It sticks skin really well (because of the slight hydration of the skin, combined with pressing it together to get rid of air (it's anaerobic with water as a catalyst), it degrades in a non-toxic fashion, and won't leave as much of a scar.

Stitches nearly always leave scars, and on your chin they would be very noticable, so they tend to glue visible wounds where possible.

Incidentally, I also went ice skating last night Dan (at the Forum, from 8 - 9), and I've come away with huge blisters on my feet - because I have size 11 feet, with collapsed arches (flat-feet), and they are wide, so rental-shoes NEVER fit comfortably. I can barely walk this morning!

my brother has flat feet You actually remind me SO much about my brother. How old are you...cause my brothers 23

Quote from ajp71 :Why were you fiddling again and if it produced smoke it suggests that you were cleaning the CPU fan whilst the computer was running which is special to say the least. Unfortunatley you don't seem to have learnt from your laptop that if it ain't broke don't fix it

yes i am buying a new case because there a cables everywhere, and the case is £15, really bad build quality, stupidly loud....it cuts me every time i put my hand in it...and there are cables everywhere....its annoying that i have to press F1 everytime i start up the computer...but oh well.

Quote from garph :For some reason.....you ****ed around with it, broke something you mean!

Obviously you can use another plug on the MB if it has one, but as it's not the CPU fan it will mean certain things might not work or bail you out as they used to.

...but anyway, you know more about computers than me and more about overclocking than most so what do I know, you work it out.

ok, ill try work it out

Quote from ajp71 :I thought you only had a crappy E2140 @ 3ghz that obviously needed upgrading?

...and I thought you were selling the computer to 'fund' your next little toy.

E2140...i've put it back to 2Ghz, i don't support overclocking poor little Dual core chips...wait till i get my QX6850 for christmas....and some immense watercooling for my BIrthday in May, then i'll come back to overclocking. BUt wait till some new games come out next year, then i'll talk about a new graphics card.

my dad's a pharmacist...so when i get a small cut, he seals it back together with superglue, and eventually the glue wears off...and my skins back to normal...but i'm not sure about a bloody humungeous cut in your chin

basically...the RAM should be at a 1:1 Ratio with the FSB...as your RAM is DDR2...example

380FSB should be at 760 Mhz on the RAM

But i'm not sure, what sticks do you have as your 3 Gb of RAM...3 1Gbs?

I'm not really sure how that works.

By the way, what cooler you using for your CPU
CPU Fan error!

For some reason, since yesterday i've been getting a CPU Fan Error when i start up...from the BIOS i would think, before it boots into Windows. Then it says press F1 to continue. The CPU Fan IS plugged into the right bit...where it says CPU Fan on the motherboard...although yesterday i was just tidying up my PC...and when i plugged the cable into the CPU FAN bit...only 3 of the cable went into the 4 pins on the motherboard (i think its 4)...then a bit of smoke started coming from the little bits of metal near the CPU FAN pins...so i quickly took it off...and carefully put it in again. But everythings fine now...did a quick check on everything...so any ideas about this CPU FAN error, also on speedfan....it shows the Fan spinning at 0 RPM...when its normally around 3000...

So i think i've broken the pins on the motherboard or something, even though everythings spinning. Can't i just plug it into one of the other Fan connectors on the motherboard?

Thanks

your PC is very similart to mine...i don't see the need of upgrading it...do you? It runs vista stupidly smooth, unlike my laptop, never jams, runs all games, you cant really complain.

Quote from Jakg :'kin ell!

I've only ever ordered two things "on the spur of the moment", one was an 8800GTS 640 for £131 (mis-price on Amazon when they came out), and the second was a 7950GX2 for £91 a few weeks ago.

If only i hadn't just got a new GFX card (8800GTX. WOO! If only i had a working PC to use it in...) i'd buy it, GX2's were plagued with problems, and the 7900 version was quite rare (the 7950GX2 was much more common). DAMNIT!

Jakg...no offence or anything... but your CPU is really bad...at load temps it does 63 Celcius...with watercooling...and yet only 16 seconds in Super pi...Not to boast or anything, but my £50 CPU is at 3Ghz aswell, on a stock cooler with the same load temps as yours, and does 17 seconds in super pi.... i think for £100, you could have got a LOT LOT better cpu

No offence or anything...

Usually use ebuyer though. The best deal was when I ordered the bits for my PC using Google Checkout - £10 off each item

yeh right... ARE YOU JOKING?!?!?!?!?1 So i could have taken around...£100 of my whole PC..?

yes, also, is there anyway to stop the noise? I'm also going to be using my other pedals from my old wheel as a clutch
