I'd just like to be able to set a specific fuel value that is set in the setup, not in general.

The oval, in my mind, is boring. If, by any chance, the developers could give us a NASCAR style stock racer, it would make the oval a lot more interesting, for sure.

While I personally support all manner of cars in LFS, although I do think that if you get too many different cars you fragment your user base a lot, but really if you want NASCAR cars on the ovals, your best bet is to pick up a copy of NASCAR Racing 2003. This is still the absolute best that I am aware of (although I have not tried the latest incarnation of EA's game either) for stock car racing. As noted by others, there are some specific setup options that those cars use to deal with the ovals which are generally not available on most other racing cars.

Speaking of, I don't think that there is a solid rear-axle in LFS yet is there?
Wheel OFF and no dashboard.

If you turn the wheel OFF so that it is not rendered, in the F08 and BF1 cars you get no "real" dashboard even if the clock option is set to "real". I realize this is because the dashboard is on the wheel, but there should be an option for this to be static like the FOX for those of us who choose not to use the rendered wheel (I find it majorily distracting) but want that same information. If its static I realize it might be a slight advantage to not use the wheel, but perhaps it can be rotated too (which goes back to needing to be able to set the wheel turn settings properly) so that there is no advantage to not having the wheel ON.
Wheel turn issue...

The wheel turn settings start at 180 degrees which is a problem when a lot of older wheels lock-to-lock (such as the Momo black) only turn 120 degrees.

I had never noticed this before because I don't race with the wheel on as I don't realy need two of them . But did try it with the open wheel cars to get the "real dash" back. Messing around with the Wheel turn and Wheel turn compensation did not allow the rendered wheel to move in synch with the real wheel so it was rather disconcerting.

Quote from Dygear :Think of joining SimFIA ... We currently have an F1 league running, GP2, and DTM will come soon.

Dygear, I appreciate the offer, but 2pm CST on Sundays is really inconvient, especially during spring, summer and fall months.
Formula LFS

Guys,

I am looking at starting a Formula LFS league that will run at 9am CST (-6 GMT) Sunday mornings or 8:30pm CST Monday nights. Yes, this pretty much means its the western hemisphere but its open to anyone really.

Rules have not been finalized, but the series will be using the Forumla XR chassis. It will also be, at least to start with, a developmental series more akin to Formula BMW or towards the higher end Atlantics or GP2. In other words, if you are an ace, this series probably isn't for you! If however you are a intermediate driver, or even an advanced beginer who has mastered the basics of car control, who will be looking for a F1/ChampCar/IndyCar style series then this will be for you.

So to recap:

F1/ChampCar/IndyCar style series using the Formula XR chassis.

Will run Sunday mornings or Monday nights.

Rules not yet defined, but more than likely 2 heats per event ala GP2 so a short and then a long run. Qualifying will give setup for short and then short will give inverted order for long which will have a mandantory pitstop.

It'll run for 6 to 8 races, every other week with a practice session/fun-run in the off week.

Anyone who has mastered the basics of car control and is looking for a clean and fun racing environment is welcome.

Aces, i.e. anyone that can race against the upper crust of the series this probably isn't for you.

The series will concentrate on racing development such as lines, setups, and tactics. You must be willing to share setups, information, tips, etc. with fellow competitors.

Drivers will be required to submit a critique of themselves and one competitor (choosen by staff) after the event.

What am I looking for?
I'd like to see between 8 and 12 drivers.
Drivers who have hosting abilities and website expertise are especially welcome (I can do it quite well, but would prefer not to .

Lastly, while I did say that the series isn't really going to be aimed at ace drivers, those that are willing to hang around, hand out tips, give constructive advice, etc. are more than welcome.

In the future, I'd like to expand to use the Formula V8s as a graduation avenue for drivers who skills are getting better.

Thanks.

Quote from Becky Rose :I'm not saying the iMac is better, I think they look far too ugly (designed by a 7 year old) to be put anywhere near my home office. I'm just saying it is a serious contender on spec and price when I compare it to my PC.

That's because Apple is no more than a PC anymore. About the only truly nice thing about the new Aptel machines are the fact they boot with EFI. Otherwise, Apple is just a fancier Dell with a different OS.

But as to the topic of this discussion, now that Bootcamp is out (or will be fairly shortly) all you have to do is fork out the cash for a version Windows XP and you can run any PC game on your Mac hardware and use MacOSX for whatever it the user does with the computer.
