When you steal a skin from the skin_x folder, it's a .dds file. Now why not let LFS only read .JPG files from the "skins" folder and nothing else (like .dds files).

Nice skins you got there PedraumF. But how did you make those screenshots? They look so much better than mine.

Was planning on using a small block of MDF

After some searching I found the right info to be able to make a CAD file of the cars and this is what the FZ5 looks like in SolidWorks.
