Quote from arco :Doesn't it sync both ways? Like if somethings missing on the PC side, it syncs from the phone, and when somethings missing on the phone side, it syncs from the PC? Obviously, anyone with half a brain but Apple, would expect that's how it should work.

You'd think so... but no. Music syncs one way, and if you plug it into a new PC your only option is to wipe the device and create a new relationship.

On Friday, a friend of my girlfriends family was involved in an accident on his bike (involving a 4x4) and died. He was a top guy, not a single enemy out there. He leaves behind a widow and 2 children, 2 days before fathers day. No mention on the news or Facebook.

Some guy none of you have ever met dies (through what looks like his own stupidity) and there's threads on every forum, and ~80 of my Facebook "friends" are sending messages of condolence.

Sometimes I hate people.

Quote from flymike91 :In the US the pumps don't dispense gas until you've already paid with a card or with cash inside the little market they all have

The UK is the opposite, i.e. you fill then pay, which is why there is more security.

Pumps also stop dispensing at 100L to stop them losing too much.

In the UK, every single time. Perhaps drive-offs are more common over here?

Quote from senn :Clutch like that here would run about $600 AUD, or around 300 pound, installed. Do Exedy retail where you are?

I think the clutch / hydraulics came to ~£300... the DMF was £400 + the labour as well.

Quote from Shotglass :presumably an elan one which suffer from either shitty hardware or shitty drivers or more likely both
either way the current standard elan trackpads you find on most laptops these days are pretty useless

Out of interest, whats an elan touchpad? I thought most use Synaptics pads?

Quote from senn :Put a heavy duty pressure plate and a heavier duty organic clutch in it. Better performance without losing drivability (ie no leg cramps when navigating peak hour/heavy traffic) no shuddering etc. Race clutches are a whore in traffic.

I wanted to, but I don't know of anyone who supplies an upgraded clutch. I've heard of one member on another forum who went for a new organic clutch + new IC + a remap and the bill came to £3.5k (although he never said any more info so maybe it's BS), and the bill was crippling enough as it is.

Quote from dadge :(in response to the link you posted)to tune your sound to its best, get some bass test audio and tweak the gains until you get the clearest sound. bass will travel through your car but mids and tops just bounce of objects.
turn your stereo to a volume that you would most use and set the bass to such an extent that it isn't the most dominant sound coming from the speaker. because bass is omnidirectional, you don't need much of it to get the rich sounds you are looking for. you don't want to hear any vibrations from the car other than the bass. once you get vibrations from the car, your sound will be distorted and spending all that cash for better quality sound will be nothing but a waste.

At some point I have to properly scope my system, but because it changes so much I just haven't got round to it yet.
Quote from mcgas001 :Jakg...Is that a boost gauge?

Yes - I hate analogue clocks, and I thought a boost gauge might give me a little more useful information.
Quote from mcgas001 :but on a standard derv...?

My car is in no way standard (although the engine isn't mega modded), but I just thought it would be interesting to see when the turbo kicked in, especially from an economy perspective.

Quote from mcgas001 :Have you been caining that car about? Or riding the clutch?

No, i'm quite gentle on the clutch (in fact, in the last 5-10k pretty much all my downshifts are clutchless), and I don't ride it etc (i'm not pretending i'm easy on the car, but I am on the clutch at least).

HOWEVER I can't speak for the other 80k of the cars life. Remember the car also has a little more power than original (the clutch was designed for ~115 BHP and the car has maybe 150-160 now).

Quote from Jakg :Not have an analogue clock you could replace? It's what i'll be doing...

(mine turned up broken )

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Don't have an analouge clock, this is the 21st century baby! To be honest having one built into part of the original dials, perhaps in with the time etc would be really cool but way, way too much hassle.

Necro-reply, but finally got round to doing it (amongst a million other jobs for today)

Quote from tinvek :build quality

torch - feels solid and a bit special, can't really describe how but it feels expensive.*

iphone - feels solid but whilst better than most android phones and equal to any i've held it doesn't feel as quality as the torch

Really? I found the exact opposite - the Torch feels cheap and plasticky.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Sessantas on the front you want the most grip at the front for cornering and braking ty.

Yes, but being a softer compound they'll wear out even quicker (I get through the FK452's in ~10-12k).

Got them fitted to the back atm (simply because I didn't want to mess the tyre fitters around too much after asking them to swap tyres round on the spare etc), although in hindsight this is probably a waste of a good tyre as it doesn't really do anything there (the Federals were fine tbh!)

Multi-touch on Windows has always been horrible, simply because it's a poor implementation (like circle scroll) on an OS not designed for it.

Apple (to their credit) have made it work really well (although i'm not a fan of gestures).

Quote from SJB :Why do you reset the option "window while connecting" to "yes" at every patch? Its now the 6th time I set it back to "no"

This is because some firewalls detected a changed exe (i.e. after patching), and then ignore your previous "allow" setting - this means if you get a popup, you'll be able to see it to allow LFS to connect to the internet.
Quote from ghostrider83 :hmm for some reason when I left a server yesturday it left me online and now it says that my user name is online when I'm not on LFS. This is the first time it done this to me and it happened after I got the test patch.

This is probably not 0.6xx at fault - it's a bug when a server dies, but does not tell the master server you've left. It's been in LFS for as long as I remember.

Quote from tristancliffe :DRM, essentially. Using a commercial mp3 as a ringtone is *technically* agains the terms of use.

Not really... there are many MP3's you could use perfectly legitimately with no DRM.

More than likely the real reason is that they'd rather you bought them via iTunes, and gave some money to Apple.

workshops are dodgy ****s, the lot of them. theres only 2 places i trust here in perth and thats because i sat there and watched them do there work lol

What I meant was that I would imagine THEIR insurance excess would be so high they wouldn't claim, instead they'd just sort it out themselves.

Quote from e2mustang :why dont u just plug the tyre? if they are not worn,i wouldnt buy new ones.
plug it . i use it almost everyday in the shop

It's a rather large hole (screw / bolt sort of size), and the tyres are coming up to the end of their life anyway. I might as well put the £20 I'd pay for a repair into mounting my new tyres, especially as the tyres on the back are some budget Federals.

Quote from Klutch :i'd have made them fix it

they make an error, you get the company to deal with it, garages are dodgy ****s and most will rip you off if you just ask for cash. Chances are you'll fork out for it yourself.

If I get cash in my pocket I can either pay for a repair myself, or buy another bumper. The garage are quite small and don't have any bodyshop stuff in house so would have to bring in someone from outside anyway.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Wtf you had them both for £110? I'M GONNA KILL YOU. They're like my most wanted tyres ever they are apparently bloody fantastic and they look AWESOME.

8D

Turns out the "slow puncture" is actually a nail in the tyre and so it's flat again, so my first proper voyage on my new clutch shall be down to a garage (again) to get them put on.

Not sure if I want to put the Sessanta's up front or not though... more grip up front never hurt, however I get through tyres quick so maybe I should put the softest rubber at the back...

(up front is a pair of month-old FK452's)

They turned up today, even still got the bobbles on them. Look brand new, one slight depression on one edge where the tyre was leaning on something... most impressed!

EDIT - And they look shit. If they were asymmetric, it'd be awesome, but they just look weird being right-offset on both sides...

EDIT 2 - I'm a monumental retard. But this still doesn't look "right":
