On Friday, a friend of my girlfriends family was involved in an accident on his bike (involving a 4x4) and died. He was a top guy, not a single enemy out there. He leaves behind a widow and 2 children, 2 days before fathers day. No mention on the news or Facebook.
Some guy none of you have ever met dies (through what looks like his own stupidity) and there's threads on every forum, and ~80 of my Facebook "friends" are sending messages of condolence.
I wanted to, but I don't know of anyone who supplies an upgraded clutch. I've heard of one member on another forum who went for a new organic clutch + new IC + a remap and the bill came to £3.5k (although he never said any more info so maybe it's BS), and the bill was crippling enough as it is.
At some point I have to properly scope my system, but because it changes so much I just haven't got round to it yet.
Yes - I hate analogue clocks, and I thought a boost gauge might give me a little more useful information.
My car is in no way standard (although the engine isn't mega modded), but I just thought it would be interesting to see when the turbo kicked in, especially from an economy perspective.
No, i'm quite gentle on the clutch (in fact, in the last 5-10k pretty much all my downshifts are clutchless), and I don't ride it etc (i'm not pretending i'm easy on the car, but I am on the clutch at least).
HOWEVER I can't speak for the other 80k of the cars life. Remember the car also has a little more power than original (the clutch was designed for ~115 BHP and the car has maybe 150-160 now).
Yes, but being a softer compound they'll wear out even quicker (I get through the FK452's in ~10-12k).
Got them fitted to the back atm (simply because I didn't want to mess the tyre fitters around too much after asking them to swap tyres round on the spare etc), although in hindsight this is probably a waste of a good tyre as it doesn't really do anything there (the Federals were fine tbh!)
This is because some firewalls detected a changed exe (i.e. after patching), and then ignore your previous "allow" setting - this means if you get a popup, you'll be able to see it to allow LFS to connect to the internet.
This is probably not 0.6xx at fault - it's a bug when a server dies, but does not tell the master server you've left. It's been in LFS for as long as I remember.
It's a rather large hole (screw / bolt sort of size), and the tyres are coming up to the end of their life anyway. I might as well put the £20 I'd pay for a repair into mounting my new tyres, especially as the tyres on the back are some budget Federals.
If I get cash in my pocket I can either pay for a repair myself, or buy another bumper. The garage are quite small and don't have any bodyshop stuff in house so would have to bring in someone from outside anyway.
Turns out the "slow puncture" is actually a nail in the tyre and so it's flat again, so my first proper voyage on my new clutch shall be down to a garage (again) to get them put on.
Not sure if I want to put the Sessanta's up front or not though... more grip up front never hurt, however I get through tyres quick so maybe I should put the softest rubber at the back...
(up front is a pair of month-old FK452's)
They turned up today, even still got the bobbles on them. Look brand new, one slight depression on one edge where the tyre was leaning on something... most impressed!
EDIT - And they look shit. If they were asymmetric, it'd be awesome, but they just look weird being right-offset on both sides...
EDIT 2 - I'm a monumental retard. But this still doesn't look "right":
