Hey Ric, i guess it was just a comunication problem of mine.

Anyways, i see your point on the meshsmooth, it does round up everything!! But inside meshsmooth you have a tool called "crease", and if you know how to use that you can make some nice detailed stuff!!
I love to use that tool, i dont care if takes ages to render, or if it takes ages to crease all the right edges , the end result is worth it!!

Meshsmooth is kinda "cheating", as you get into the habits of high-poly-modelling, and this aint good, trust me.

Hey Ric, im not entirely sure what is your point here. Are you trying to be helpfull or are you just patronising me??

I dont understand why you need to explain me that 3 vertice poly is a triangle, and 4 vertice a quad......in my last posts i make reference to TRIANGLES ans SQUARES. Plus im not 3 years old.

Next, i dont understand why you say the poly count is the same.... because it just isnt. You have Poly's and you have Faces. If they where the same thing, you wouldnt have that distinction in the software. Yes its true that 2 triangles have 2 faces, and a square have also 2 faces, but the poly count is not the same.

Last but not least, i really dont understand why is meshsmooth cheating? I mean, im not trying to do a playable model, im trying to make a very nice PICTURE ( or render , whatever you prefer ), and in my opinion, you cant do a realistic scene with the current RB4 lines ( like many have said, its just too bumpy!! ). If you take a closer look, those renders from philthy have some kind of mesh smooth ( and by the way, they look fantastic ).

So, in a nut shell, i really dont understand your words towards me, specially if you took the time to awnser positively to everyone last posts exept mine. If you dont like my work, its perfectly fine, just come out an say it . I dont mind the critics at all, good or bad, i just dont like to be patronised without a reason.

John5200 , you confused things there . With 2 triangles attached you have 4 vertex's, 5 edges, 2 faces and 2 poly's . With 1 square you have 4 vertex's , 4 edges , 2 faces and 1 poly.

Hey Ric, first off all, you have all the reasons to think this have more polys then the original, and it does!! Thats because of the MeshSmooth . But maybe i can explain what i mean with 1/3 of the polys .

LFS cars usualy are made with triangular polys, and im used to work 4 side polys ( i think the word is trapezoids, not sure :P ).

Now, If you cut a diagonal in a square, you get 2 identic triangles. And thats how the polys where originaly done. All i did was replace 2 triangles for a square, only in the plarts that really mattered , wich turned out to be more then i expected :P . Anyways, you get the picture now, replace 2 polys for 1

I ended up with the exactly the same model as the original, but with about 1/3 of the polys less. After that comes the MeshSmooth, with only 1 iteration, but doubles all the polys in the car

Anyways, heres some pics in the 3dsmax. Im still working on it

Hi guys, after seeing these latest custom RB4, i got inspired to work on an RB4 too!! Its still a WIP, has some bugs, but it already has alot of work in it! I re-did the hole car ( poly wise ) and ended up with almost 1/3 less poly's then the original. I made a bunch of costum pieces for this one, but im planing in doing alot more!

I was going for a GT Racing kind of tunning on this one, but after starting, the hole thing started to look more like an Touring car!! So i went on and try to explore a more quiet aproach to body work.

Anyways, enjoy, critic, whatever you feel like!! Im open to any tips on good V-ray materials for windows!! ( ok......im desperate for any tips on that...please )

Hi guys, this is my first render post, ( my team skin ) I have done a few so far, but recently i discovered V-Ray, and im loving it!! Dunno much about it though , but ill learn.

I have seen many renders here that put this one into a litle corner!! Theres alot of talented ppl out there!! I hope i can that good someday!!

These are good news!!! I get home from xmas with family and this little gift is waiting on forum!!!

I did took the time to read the whole 5 paged thread so far, and i can understand some folks point of view. They complain and with some reason....i mean, its been more then 2 years.....but i dont focus on that( well at least not for a some months now )....i choose to focus on the what LFS brought to me over these years!!!! LFS is probably the only "game" that has never left my hard drive in almost 5 years!! And it only costed 24£.....if u crunch the numbers thats REALLY good value for an investment!

Not speaking about the money, LFS also brought me hours and hours of endless fun! I also made a few friends in this game, friends i met in races that later lead to personal meetings that lead to good friendships!!

Think about it.....in the end, i must say LFS is a little part of me and my way of life!! So hearing that Scawen Vic and Eric did not abandon the ship, and also that theyr still working hard to bring us a PROPER update to an already very advanced simulator is nothin less then good news!!

Scawen, Vic, Eric, thank you for the report!!! and have a good christmas!!

The same goes to all folks in here, lovers and haters, have a good christmas!!!

This league as so much potential, but some folks in track just dont have any respect for others....and that ruins it
Even in a test race, some folks where just insanly agressive!

Defending a position is one thing, very diferent then beeing a pig!!

If i may make a sugestion, when ITCC comes back next year, aplly very hard penaltiies to those who cant race properly....maybe that way they think twice before acting like greedy jerks!!

Other then this, ITCC is always a rush, one of my favorite leagues in LFS!! It would be nº1 if races where cleaner.

Get your racing gear , set it up, log in to LFS, join a server, and have some fun!!!

After all, this still is a great game (simulator) !!!!!!! The cars and tracks may be the same as always, but the guys you race against are always changing!!

I though good things come to those who work hard....not sit and wait . In this particular case, waiting never made me happier or less bored. On the contrary, since i stoped waiting, i was able to enjoy LFS again...

I dont even want to think about the patch cause i would only be bothering and eluding myself...now i just focus on what i have and try to have fun with it.

A month ago i woulded picked 3......and mainly because i was so frustrated with the patch not coming out. But then i just got tired of waiting and simply stoped... tryed to find a new team to get to the old LFS fun days, meet some new ppl, race in some leagues, get a few laughs in servers and the result really shows! I now vote for nº1 and i feel like playing every day again . In the end its all about your attitude.

Hey guys, il just give short version of my history in LFS :

-First team i was in was Karma, we participated in alot of leagues ( OLSFL, ITCC,IGTC,Desire of Patience Tour where we won 24 hours NGT, and a few others maybe not so known to the comunity ) ; I was racer and skinner of team.

-Second team was Fluid, and only lasted for a few months, cause theyr were portuguese and friends of ours, so we decided to all leave karma and merge with fluid ( because both teams were becoming a bit stalled ). Didnt work, we were all good friends but we had diferent management ideas...plus, some of the members just wherent playing anymore.

-Third team was, and still is BlackBullRacing . This team has exactly the same players that where in Karma. I was racer and designer of team ( logo, colors, skinns ). We didnt go back to karma because its a multigame clan, and some members got out in bad terms.Plus, a fresh start alwyas give some motivation. Dued to LFS lack of development, almost all of the members stoped playing. Nothing went wrong really, they just got bored. Only one team m8 plays it regularly, Roscas, and me too not that often.

Now the thing is that i miss all the races and trainings, i miss the competitive challenges, i miss playing LFS in a more competitive and respectull enviroment then the very few racing servers that are out there...
BlackBullRacing is still a project i wont leave, beacuse all the members in there are my friends, but im pretty sure its over in the LFS racing department.

Well now im looking for a new team where i can get back to the old competition and training days. Maybe contribute with some designs and skinns also, cause its really a passion of mine.

bbman - i dont thinks tyre physics are easy.......but i do think 2 years is more then time to develop them. I see complete games beeing made in 2 years, some of them very complex....but i also know that you cant compare a simulation game with a strategy game for exemple.
The big problem here is that LFS has a very small developers team.....and if that wasnt the only problem, they only take LFS as a "2nd job"....so yes im still disapointed. Im disapointed cause this is the best simulator out there and its in this situation.

AcesHigh - Im not whining man, its more like a confession....and i already participated in some champs, i raced in ITCC, GTAL, Masters of Endurance, OLFSL, IGTC, and the Desire of Patiente Tour ( wich btw, our team won the 24 hours in NGT ) , so i know what you mean . But have you noticed these leagues aren´t what they used to be? I just think something is missing from LFS nowadays .
About the track not beeing a part of the new upcoming patch, my bad, i thought it was( so it even worst the terrible wait )......

And when the patch comes out ( if it does at all ) i think it will not bring any more then what scawen anouced ( tyre phisics, VW and the Rock track ). It can, maybe, bring just a litle perk here and there, but nothing big like another car or track or night time and rain.

Like i said a few weeks ago, i already gave up on the waiting....LFS disapointed me and alot of fans out there, because 2 years and a few months for 1 track, 1 car and some new phisics its not something worth waiting for that long.

But even in this situation, I still play LFS now and then, due to the crapy sims that are out there...none can satisfy me like LFS does and i dont have that much money to waste in Iracing. The only problem is that theres very litle good servers to race on these days.....all i see is cruise , drift, and demo servers.......very few like cargame S2.........i also miss CTRA badly!!

Well...its a shame...realy

But no no we the hardcore simmers are still waiting patiently,moving to 3 years waiting for....for 1 car and 1 track with some better physics....

I actualy agree with this. Im a big fan of LFS. Played it for years, loved it for years. These last months haven't even raced once...i guess im just tired of the same old tracks and same old cars.

I have been coming to LFS forum regularly to check on the patch , but this "quoted" fella makes a good point....what the hell for?? one car and one track?? It will be awsome...for 2 or 3 months, then its back to the waiting part for about 2 or 3 more years....

Im not critisizing the game or the developers, I RESPECT whatever time is necessary to make the proper adjustments to the game, i just think its time for me to move on...and say goodbye to the best racing simulator i ever played! im really tired of waiting........maybe i should just start gathering some money to buy a PS3 with GT5 and give that one a try, or rfactor 2....who knows...wont be the same thats for sure

Hey guys, i tryed to read some of the last pages of this thread, searching for some information regarding the patch but all i saw was lots of spam :P .

Im not critisizing anyone, i just wanted to know how's the progress. Should we expect something soon or will we have to wait another year?

Its a shame that the best racing simulator is so still in development... I know its just a few guys working on it, but as i recall, the Scirroco and the tyre physics are being anounced since august of 2008! And by that time, the Scirroco model was already designed and prety much perfect.

Lots of people i know that where regular on LFS for years just dont play anymore because they got bored. Some (not so knowned) teams simply vanished from the map...and for me, its realy sad to see this. Even i am strugling to stay true to LFS, wich is by far my favorite car sim, but also by far the worst in new content or updates.

I wont loose hope, but sadly, litle by litle, im loosing interest

BTW, risking to sound like a noob , how does this HR skins system works? cause i can only upload skins with max res 1024. Does the name of the HR skins has to be the same we use on the uploaded/normal ones? Can anyone clarify this for me ?

Just wanted to say that Yann Laprevotte, nº3, was correct when he said i passed him after SC come in, in the 3rd race. I didnt noticed at the time, but i still let him pass after giving it some thinking, and after realizing that i wasnt paying attencion to the SC.I though maybe he was right, so i let him trough.
