I would like to correct some points that you guys made. IMO you are going at a good speed in the corners. Atleast in a higher speed then Tomba in his replay, if i'd had to guess your setups problem it would be you have too much downforce. That track is mainly straight so you don't need the downforce, if you compare these two replays you can see that you are clearly losing in straight speeds. In the main straight about 20km/h and in the uphill section 15km/h and that is hurting your time. Your braking point for the first corner is also later then the usual braking point. Cornering was fine so the problem is straights.
I also think he was only trying to tear the visor off. No point in celebrating when you are just accelerating to the main straight. And he did make mistakes in the last years GP so i think he was trying to be extra careful for this one, so i don't see the possibility of him celebrating at that point.
Then about Mclarens pitlimiter gotta wonder how its setup. Quoting Marc Gene "I was surprised by Kovalainen's mistake. It's unbelievable that Mclaren haven't made any changes after the mistakes that happened to Hamilton in Brazil in 2007" (Taken from finnish article quating Gene from El mundo magazine so the translation might not be so accurate.) So he thinks that the loss for speed in the last GP last season was due to similar pressing of the pitlimiter. Again quoting "Ferrari's pitlimiter only goes on in low speeds, never when the car is doing topspeeds."
So i might partly blame Mclaren about the functionality of the speedlimiter. Whats the point keeping it so that it can be pressed on in high speeds...
Heh yeah, also about the lag i don't think there was any more then usual. Like i said we had really close fights in the race so i think others would have had problems sticking near me.
Did a 6 lap race on CTRA single seater 2 server last night. Decided to save it and watch the start again as we had 3 cars side by side and no collisions. Then later on when i watched the replay it just says in the beginning that i'm in the pits. Then on last lap on lap 6 i magically reappear to the final straight and the game is saing that i have left the pits.
I think that everybody in the race could see me. It can be seen as i had a tight fight with -willi- halfway trough the first lap and on the final lap with ehnico.
Then i thought that the problem was only in my end and downloaded the replay from the server. But it turns out that also in that replay i am missing.
So what could be the reason, might be that before the start of the replay i actually was in the pits and entered just when the race was about to start.
Here are both of the replays, first one from my point of view and the second from the server.
- Lap 68 car No.104 leaves a cap before the safety car pits in and starts an overtaking manouver before the green flag. IMO you clearly overtake two or three cars before the flag is green.
But anyway checked the second half replay out of interest and that is admins nigtmare, if it were the actual race.
Aa it was lag then its ok. Was a bit pissed off i mean i had just climped up from 19th to 9th or something. I was slowing down quite suddenly though cause the cars ahead of me had a collision and i wanted to avoid them, but i guess you couldn't see that incident from behind me. Then again was in the back of the field.
Well the whole race was a bit like lottery and the most dangerous situations were under SC. I think there needs to be rereading of the rules alot.
I have some problems with the IGTC_Plate_Kit.psd. I'm using Gimp, just downloaded the latest version of it 2.4.4. I can locate the layers just fine black and grey, but the grey also appears to be black. Anybody else having any issues with this or is it just me?
This all sounds nice and everything. My question is how does one know that the other one has been rolled over/stucked to the sand or just decided to spectate cause he couldn't be bothered. I mean usually in insident's like this the "guilty" party is ahead of the "victim". IMO usually these are unfortunate racing incidents and it's just tought luck that the other got stuck in sand or on hes roof. So atleast the other should continue racing.
How about with the newer cars today, they tend to have the system that when you touch the indicator once it flashes three times.
I used to signal somebody if they wanted to pass, but not anymore just because of this.
Seen this happen here in finland also, a bit funny when first the guy ahead indicates to the right (its ok to pass), then the other car passes using indicators to switch lanes and after returning to the correct lane he indicates once to the left saing "thanks" and the other responds with the hazards "your welcome".
Have to agree with you there. Now that i have been driving the new patch a bit more imo it feels better then the old one. With the new clutch a bit more challenging and with the improved physics it has more feeling.
So thanks to the developers/testers and everyone who has been working hard for the new patch.
Tricky car to handle. Haven't driven much this combo and gave it a go.
The setup seems to work for race. The tires seem to take some time to get their heat up. The gearing seems just fine but i'm not much of a mechanic .
My time with your setup 1.19.94 after 11 laps run out of fuel and this was my first go. So getting used to the track/setup after 6 laps so after that the times are ok.
Hope this helps
Ps. Checked your replay. Couple of pointers if you may. T1 braking too late, T2(after the long straight) turning in a bit too early -> turn becomes a bit too sharp try to make it smoother and maybe T5(second to last corner, downhill braking) i think in this one too you might be turning in a bit too early. Other then these seemed fine.
