@niall09: Yup checked the replay on that, could have been that Karolis moved too early after passing you and resulting in us both been taken out. Atleast it seemed that way in my replay.
Well what to say from the races.
Quali:
Decided to start later to avoid most of the traffic and wasn't going to carry that much fuel. Was a bit of a bother that admins thought i had come late to the server and i had to stop for a while from semi deasent lap. Well no biggie got a good lap just before the time run out, but run out of fuel just 5m before the finishline so lost some hundreds there.
Sprint:
Like every round so far very good race. Got past Moose in the start. Then slipped to the sand slightly on some lap and he passed me. Managed to catch up again and passed on the backstraight. Good fight. Near the end started to gain on nial but just not enough laps.
Feature:
Really good start like before. On lap 6 had allready gone up to 9th. Was just ahead of Moose who later won the race . Then when trying to pass danowat, braked just a tad too late and missed my line so he hit me in the rear and we both went wide. Dropped to 17th there. Then when behind Karolis & Nial battling in the backstraight weird crash there. Well after recovering from that managed to continue quite nicely. Only minor damage to the back right, affected slightly the corner exits. In the end 7th deasent result after those crashes.
Not so bad after taste then last time. Still hoping for a spin free race so better luck next time.
So the penalties are in. Nice job calling them i think. Not entirely content about those, but i'm biased as i was involved. Mainly about the first one, as i'm sure Karolis saw the chaos ahead so he could have started slowing down much earlier and not hit the throttle in mid corner. I mean the yellow came early for him and i'm sure he knew the no passing rule and he had a big gap for the cars ahead. But now that i've said that i'll admit i'm biased and was really pissed about that as i was slowing down more then i usually would.
And while i'm at it might as well say sorry to wimpie for hitting him before he spun me. The bumb there was an accident, but i made the pass eventhough i shouldn't have. Was somewhat unhappy about the earlier try where i felt i was driven to the inside grass in T1. After checking the replay there was enough room in T1.
Good to know now for the future rounds what kinda penalties are in store for these kinda incidents.
Forgot to mention in my first post that all the incidents took place in the second race.
This is the first series that i've been in where there is this yellow flag rule. Sounds like a good one. Just not sure about all the situations it should be applied to. For future reference i'm posting this complaint to know where the line goes. Well i wasn't part of this, but seemed like a close call(kinda hoping for more points )
Race 2
Lap 2 - before 2nd split. DaveWS overtakes Blackout under yellow flags.
PS: Not sure about the forum post conduct, but i think all the explanations and apologies should go to a different thread or PM:d. Much easier read if we just see the complaints and then the judgements for those as the thread title says.
Lap 1 - after 1st split. Karolis[LT] passing under yellow. Just not considering the yellow flags and ramming through a punch of cars resulting in me + Davews to spin. First thought that it was lococost who did it but after looking at the replay it's a domino effect caused by Karolis[LT].
Lap 13 - before 1st split. Wimpie drives to my rear resulting in a spin.
(Laps 9&17 - both before 2nd split. Hugoluis didn't leave enough room resulting in crashes both time. Not sure about these due to lag that he had, so it might have been that he just didn't see my car both times.)
Kinda the same comments as others have said. First was great fun then the second one full of contact + some lag. Well anyway gonrats to Hugo and Dave for the wins.
Like others have said really good quality racing. Close and clean.
Sprint
Had a deasent quali near my pb ended up 7th. Then battled through the race gaining couple of positions. Went wide once and lost a position there to Makriyiannis. Then drove behind him to the end. We got really lucky on the last lap in the last corner as three of the guys ahead of us had collided. So we gained 3 free place's there.
Feature
Starting all the way from the back. Took the first corners really easy and lost some place's there. Then started overtaking and it went well for about 6 laps. Was tailing Hugoluis at the time and i managed to keep up to him somewhat. As we gained on Cherkashyn we had tight fights for a lap or so. But then i ended up doing a mistake in the last corner hitting the tires. Hit the wall on the right and did a 180 there so was facing the wrong way. Had just managed to get ahead this long line of cars so had to wait for everyone to go before i had the change to get back to the road. So again in the end of the back and 10 laps to go. Well just patiently started trying to get my pace back. Had another close call with the tires closer to the end. One tire was loose in the middle of the line and just couldn't avoid, no big damage there just lost some time. Starting to really hate those tires . In the end managed to get to 9th place.
I agree, the T1 is nearly like real life traffic. You never know when the driver infront of you is going to start braking . So like in actual traffic keep your safe distance .
Nice guide, good points there and some that i hadn't thought of also like braking force.
Would like to add that there could be mention about what lines to take in T1. The usual optimum line for hotlapping is out of question. So what lines to take? I think you have two choices depending on your starting position in the grid either the inside or the outside. If you get a good start you may be able to change your track position for T1 and you can choose freely wich one to take. I think most of the drivers are favoring the inside lane as they hope gaining positions in T1. So i've started to favor the outside lane whenever i have the change in T1. Usually the outside is less growded and you can brake later then others as there isn't so many cars infront of you. When taking the outside lane you should leave as much room as possible, even if it feels a bit too much, this way you are increasing your changes not be bunted by a driver who was going for the inside and missed the braking point slightly.
When you are taking the inside lane, i think the options are limited. You'll have to brake quite early as you are turning in tighter then you usually need to take the corner. Also the inside tends to be a lot more crowded and cause of this going in a really slow pace.
I've also noticed that it is good to leave a bit extra room for the car infront of you before the braking of the corner. When doing this there is a little more reaction time when the car ahead starts braking.
There might also be some differences when thinking about the starting position. In the front of the grid you just need to push full on and try to take the corner as fast as it is safely possible. In the middle of the pack it is all about avoiding others and trying to be in the same speed as the cars around you. Easiest place to be is in the back there you can safely observe from a distance and take a good line for T2.
These were some points i felt could be added to the list or i've noticed to work well.
" Q: But an amazing first few laps when you were trying to get past Heikki.
LH: Yeah, that was some close racing. I got a great start at the beginning, but to be honest, I lifted too early into turn one. Heikki had the outside line, so he had the grip but unfortunately I was on the inside and I was just sliding, sliding across. There was nothing I could do to avoid him, I think we tapped or we touched and I think it was no problem for him. Then I had another opportunity on the exit of the last corner but that’s not a place to overtake really. We were almost side-by-side and I had an oversteer moment and the last thing I wanted to do was take my team-mate out, so I just tried to keep it on the track. "
Lewis was good i'll give you that but the best driver of the british gp was without a doubt Barrichello. At his age still able to give the young guys good old beating with a totally inferior car. I mean the guy started all the way from the back and took the 3rd place with 1min 22s difference, even with the wet tires somebody still needs to drive the car . Flawless performance in my opinion by Rubens. Good solid drive by Lewis and then third Heidfeld with his great manouvers.
I've had S2 now for 1,5 year. Was a demo driver for ages, tried the early versions of the game and then came back to it after couple of years and felt better so decide to buy it. Was invited to FLP/r after few months of racing and allways liked pie. Mmm pie .
Would like to point out that the info about Lewis buing $400 000 plate seems to be inaccurate. Atleast according to a finnish news, where i usually get my F1 news. They quote him saing "Ridiculous story. I wouldn't pay 100£ for a plate, unless i had to. I can assure you , that this 'info' isn't true at all." (Not sure about the actual saings just trying to translate from a finnish translation what he said in english )
Didn't read all the posts so if it was a double post, then sorry .
edit: Ok rolled the page little bit upwards this was allready said, sorry.
You are probably spectating at that moment and not in a car. So the screen shows the same thing as the drivers whos view/car you are in at that moment.
Made a short clip of me and fapex going at it in world series round 2. My first go with movie making. I think i got the action, but there is improvement to be made in the editing part.
I think pretty nice for a first try. 452 points and five guestions right. Very nice start Trulli and Sutil pulled through, Toyota chassis might be best race for them so far then Force india engines and williams fuel everyone to the finnish nice.
