My wife gave me the best present: 4 X 10 minutes karting rides. It's my first, so it was awesome.... I kicked my work buddies ass, so I guess simracing helped a bit...

All sarcasm aside, I think the LFS community has LOTS of patience with the development.
Full stop of development is at the time the best aproximation of what's happening.

"I saw the Devil"... If you have the stomach for such movies. A Korean movie borrowing alot from Hollywood, but pushing it a bit further.

Quote from Bob Smith :Don't let iRacing hear you say that.

They are not quite there yet. Maybe after the next (3.0) revolution.

Don't really have alot of photos that I'm happy about. But might start to post a little more here

"73871-F.jpg" <- is a photo a friend took with my cam and lens when he was in Gothenburg/Göteborg here in Sweden with his workmates.

Nice miniature world impression.

Here is a foggy morning from my window:

Quote from Hyperactive :Is there a demo without steam?

None that I know of. I had already a Steam account, and 10 EUR I'm happy to pay to an indie developer.

Just wanted to share the find. This game has gorgeous graphics, unique mood and smart enough puzzles to feel rewarded.

Highly recommended gem!

Frailty, pretty old (2001) and low budget, but thought provoking...

The Crazies (2010), better than expected.

Devil (2010), nice cinematogaphy

Hi everybody,

Thanks for the nice discussion.

Could be www.xmotorracing.com a useful tool here? One can see there in real time the use of these models and functions. It's pretty nice from that point of view. On the other hand it's away from LFS (or iRacing) in terms of handling and feel.

I have another issue, a more philosphical one: isn't it possible that even if you manage to nail the model that best replicates the empirical data, the actual feel during the play is not good? Is it necessary that the best feel of the game overlaps with the best fitted tyre physics model?

Thanks.

Quote from RasmusL :Very bad game, bad physics, bad graphics, bad input control and user interface.. I don't think I have anything positive to say about it
Sorry, but it just doesn't do anything for me

c'mon man that's a bit harsh...it has better physics than all that arcade bling on the market...

I bought it, to support the guy, guess he needs more money now then when things will start working for them.

Anyways, I confirm that without the aids, driving is veeery difficult even in the low powered cars. Either other sims are cheating, or things have to be adjusted in that game.

Otherwise, there are some nice ideas there, but there's still lots of work.

A very good boost for them getting feedback from the LFS community.

Quote from NightShift :Most of the points you listed are just plain realism improvements that have been planned for some time already, and that iRacing hasn't really 'invented' per se.

So it wouldn't be correct to say LFS has borrowed them from iRacing.

E.g. if LFS added shadows to the car interiors, you would have a hard time proving that iRacing has 'invented shadows' and LFS borrowed from them. OTOH if LFS would introduced a league/pickup racing hybrid then you would be right to say iRacing had inspired LFS.

NightShift you're right, if tou take it literally. But I didn't mean LFS has to copy anything, my suggestion was that at some chapters iRacing seemed more real. But as i didn't drive on a real track, I wasn't sure what is closer to reality in those aspects, therefore I posted the thread.That's all.

Anyway thanks everybody for your views.

LFS <--> iRacing ...what should LFS borrow?

Hello everybody,

I tried iRacing for a short while (only the Pontiac) and I have to admit there is smth that makes if feel different than LFS. LFS is more complex I guess with respect to engine physics, but:
- FF seems more real in iRacing. It never releases totally when you lose grip, and it's not that ...elastic;
- you feel better the balancing of the car, and you can use it more to your advantage;
- less forgiving than LFS if you get even slightly off the tarmac;
- damage somewhat nicer, but not too much;

Can you add smth else?

Anyway the pricing is ridiculous, even if it were miles ahead LFS(which is not) it wouldn't be worth it.
