what I found funny listening to news reports on the BBC in particular was they had some senior medical guy on the other day saying the whole Swine Flu thing has been exaggerated massively by the media, it's had an unneccessary amount of scaremongering and it's distracting public attention from all the other flu-like viruses that are a lot more deadly....and then the BBC promplty ignore everything he says and continue to run it as their top story
meh...DnB is OK if you can wade through the overwhelming amount of shit that is out there. IDM is where it's at (so far only the brief mentions of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin have gone as far as IDM).

going to cram a lot of reading into the next ten days whilst on holiday, already got Stephen Fry's The Liar on the go and have just bought Iain Banks's book Dead Air and also taking his book Complicity which I will be reading for about the fourth time it's that bloody good
I see this is the old 'electronic music isn't proper music' debate all over again.
May I just say that whilst what we get trance/dance wise pumping out of the mainstream radio stations and whatnot is frankly utter rubbish, there are a lot of very talented guys out there who use computers and stuff to create their music. The mainstream stuff, in particular the godawful Eurotrance crap all follows the same basis, has no particular finesse or soul and usually includes pounding repetitive beats with a sample of some warbling blonde bird layered over the top. Look past the mainstream wankery and endless compilations of the same rubbish of which the only purprose is to make money and you can find some incredibly talented people out there who never receive a mainstream breakthrough
