For a first skin, I guess it's pretty good!

Not going to make a totally new post, but there we go, finalized the first skin for Team Egamespoint that will be participating in the German ESL Season IV. it's actually the base color scheme of DTM Red Bull Audi racing team, but it definately looks nice like this.

Since they are team skins, I won't post em here to use. And there are more to come, now I need to do the XRR and XFR versions. Then, further down the road, pretty much all teh cars...

When I want to get a track in mind with a particular car, I'll hop in single player and do ten or so laps. Then I go online, hop on a server, and watch one of the race leaders from the in-car view. I get a good idea of what lines to follow, braking points, curve speeds. Then, I return offline and try to duplicate that. Of course, I still suck, but that's a pretty good way to learn cars/tracks.

Yeah, but then again, I always send a preparation message like: "Hey, <insert random name here> after the race, would you mind sharing your set?"


This usually gives me a set at the end of the race. Sometimes, I have to remind the guy, or he may not have seen the message in race, but what happens too much, is even before I can ask again, boom he's disconnected. :mad:

The thing about the FZ50 is that it's so damn heavy, it takes a full landing strip to get it to stop. I just hate that car. On the other hand, the GTR version of the FZ50 is a charm to drive. I still suck and get it to spin for really small mistakes I make, but that car is the best drive around.

I drive with a Logitech MOMO Racing wheel. Cost me 125$ CAD. Only thing I have against it is that after having it for only three months, it already starts to feel like it's grinding or something.

Haha, it does indeed bring back memories of comics in my father's collection. Only thing I didn't like about that series was how each damn character was either a superb woman or a Mr. Universe...

Maaaagnificent. In Westhill, the little farmland/village whatever it is up the mountainside even looks like it's 3D generated, quality of that scenery is amazing!

It may not appear that way, but that's the sky reflecting on the windshield. What I found out working on photorealistic renders is that sometimes, even if a reflection or shadow looks inexact or flawed to our eyes, it's still correctly rendered. I guess we get too suspicious of artificial images.

Yeah, I'm coming out from practicing Aston Historic with the FZR, and somehow, I can't make anything better than 1:38. I think I know why I have more fun skinning now, I suck at driving and I always curse at myself for missing turns and spinning out of control.



BTW, as it's coming out, I might be going to university in graphical arts this fall...
