WOW, They're joining faster than Marsh can keep up!

Welcome New guys!

I setup the server "[LOTF] Practise 5" up and running. It is setup for the big three GTR cars on FE green@10 laps. I'm new to this so if you have problems send me an email or PM.

I hate to say it but some professor had to wait 5 mili-seconds longer than he thought he should so they did that to slow down online BF2 players.

Seriously, I don't know what the heck I'm talking about but a friendly bump of the post so someone might help you.

Quote from Theafro :Audi R10 drivers Allan McNish, Rinaldo Capello, and Tom Kristensen brought home the first ever win for a diesel engined car in a sports car event, at the sebring 12 hours.

Audi are looking good for yet another win a Le-mans this season, and although i'm not an Audi fan, I've got to give it to 'em - the boys did well!

I'm just wondering how long it'll be before we start seeing diesel F1 cars

I saw several hours of the race and the TDI was VERY impressive. From the telecast I learned that the car has a very narrow power band compared to the R8 but very large amounts of torque. It is also so quiet that the driver cannot hear the engine after third gear speeds. When the car left the pits the quiet sound was very nice and mellow.
I would imagine it is much more fun to drive than the 11,000LB Mack Truck I recently sold.

Not to bring up a dog subject but there are other LFS racing series that allow pitting on the first lap for such instances as complained about here.

S.C.O.R.E. has adopted this and I have seen another but I haven't participated with them.

This helps keep the number of racers on the track in cars that do not cause others to lose time every time they would lap that damaged car. (Guess How I know about that one)
The LFS Simulator already penalizes the car pitting in any multiplayer race buy starting them on LAP ONE no matter how many laps and time passed that the leaders have run.

I like this rule OLFSL has: We don't have a lot of rules, it's mostly common sense and fair play.

Here's some good NAL rules:
>Race restarts will only take place if three or more cars are damaged before the entire field has completed the first lap.
>Intentional collisions seeking a restart for any reason will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification.
>Drivers who do not finish the race will be credited in order of number of laps completed.
>If the race distance is completed after a disconnection, the driver will be placed accordingly.

The last one seems to indicate you can come back and finish after a disconnect. I may be wrong on that?? Once the leaders cross the finish everyone crossing is scored.

I would like for damaged cars to be allowed to pit NO MATTER where they are in a race as LFS already penalizes them. Much better than the time I lost in this event trying to get around a damaged car cleanly.

I think the alowance made by the staff (reset) was a very good decesion based on the track and type vehicle. It followed their very good rule. We don't have a lot of rules, it's mostly common sense and fair play.

Great racing and very exciting at the end as I came up on the top three fighting for the win. Maybe one less spin on my part and it would have been a little more interesting.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs Fiendi as well as their staff for helping me get in my first event of this series.
I shall do a actual hotlap to send in the future instead of qualifier laps.

I'm very happy. I did not understand. I try to keep in mind that LFS is a world wide group of people.

Those series are real race series or events and since they have much money involved and large expense to compete they must distribute the money and points thru the field of racers to keep them and their sponsors competing.
Thankfully our hobby "LFS" is much more affordable.

Quote from varjsa-9 :That would be good for Kimi, let's send this as an improvement suggestion. Give points also to racers & team that don't finish the race. What racing series are you talking about, by the way? I don't have knowledge about such...

Yes, there's a pit lane. No you can't pit in it. So it's no good for pitting right? It doesn't matter whatever you call it, if one can't get fuel / damage fixed there. And there are far more safer places to park your vehicle on that track than the main straight.

About the lag.. first thing is to separate lag issues (severe delays in connection) and low fps issues (frames per second). I don't know how much lag the parking could cause, but ppl with a bit older hardware could suffer from low fps. Have you ever tried playing LFS (or any other game in that matter) with rates as low as 10-16? If your answer is yes, you know that it really affect your performance - especially in fast paced city track like this and fast & small car like MRT. And that will cause danger to other racers too.

Therefore, in my opinion, it is justified to keep the track clear from wrecked vehicles.

It's great to hear that you think it like this. However we are all individuals with opinions sometimes differering greatly from others. What I'm after here is that what is not end of the world for you, might be just it for someone else. We at OLFSL try our best to deliver fun for all, and that means we have to be open for all opinions.

Are you saying that I don't have the right to dissagree with you with out you getting upset. I sure hope not because that not my intentions.

I should have not said this "I have to dissagree with you on this and post #57." I should have said I dissagree with the staff decision. Please accept my apology for my incorret statment. I did not mean and would not mean to insult you or anyones opinion as long as they do the same for mine.

I said
Quote :Many real racing series give the drivers/teams the points for their placing no matter if they finish or not.

NASCAR (all series of this), World Rally, IMSA GTP/GT, World Sports car, Indy 500. There are many and I totally understand the decesion as it has been explained in you last post.
I also agree that you should run the event as your staff agree's. I just voiced my opinion. I can live with yours, no problem.

Quote from Mrs FienDi :Would you want to race a full race and finish with style and then get exactly the same points as the guy who raced only 30-50% of the race? I wouldn't. I don't see the point in racing a full race if you can get the points by parking and waiting as long as you remember to cross the finish line after everyone else.. If I'm missing something here, please explain?

The car itself doesn't disturb the race, unless there are many of them: then we might see some serious lag problems.
This event is in no way normal, and this matter had not been discussed before so when you asked this, I had to go talk to other staff members and ask their opinion about this. We had a long talk and this is what we agreed to do.

I have to dissagree with you on this and post #57. It happens in real life and it should happen here without penalty also.
Many real racing series give the drivers/teams the points for their placing no matter if they finish or not.

There is a pit lane that you start from on this track and if you parked there you will not get work or fuel but you are out of the way of others racing. People who's systems cause lag will cause lag no matter where they are on the track.

Remember this is a simulator and game and the main goal is for pleasure. That said, it is also not the end of the world if it is just a bad race for someone and they get no points.

Thanks [LOTF] MARSH.
And thank you to all those who have made nice post about any of us. I have been on track with most of you and feel the same about you.

Thanks to [LOTF]BDSHAN for the hard work on the website and also for the compliment from you Clownpaint.

[LOTF]BDSHAN also has our current server and despite some minor bugs (random booting off) it will be ready for all soon.

Come visit us on and off the track.

I have both the DFP and the Momo Red. There are things I like about both, Buttons on DFP and overall feel and the peddles of the Red. I use the Red only in online races as I'm partial to paddle shifting and Red is way better there. The wheel shape and feel is nicer on the Red also. In my opinion, anyone that uses over 360 deg of rotation is just over working their shoulders and arms on most cars in LFS.
Yes, there is a Force motor stop on the DFP that is very noticable.

If your motherboard is SATA capable it could just be a driver issue. If you using a SATA card it may just be your version of windows needing to reconize it. If windows does not see it I wouldn't try to format it, YET.

What does your BIOS say when you look at the drives?
